The National Preparedness System is the instrument the Nation employs to build, sustain, and deliver the core capabilities outlined in the National Preparedness Goal. There are six mission area components in the National Preparedness System: identifying and assessing risk, estimating capability requirements, building and sustaining capabilities, planning to deliver capabilities, validating capabilities, and reviewing and updating.
