 H&H (Bangladesh) Ltd. is a public limited marketing company.
It has head office at Chittagong and business throughout the
country. The company was nationalized after Liberation and
became a subsidiary company of R.T. Corporation in 1976.
Since then, the General Manager has been appointed by the
    R.T. Corporation.

 In 1984,the General Manager Mr. X died by a massive heart
attack staying at the company's rest house away from his
family. At the same time Mr. Y a senior executive of the R.T.
Corporation was with Mr. X at the rest house. When Mr. X
died, immediately the R.T. Corporation appointed Mr. Y as the
    General Manager of the company.
 When Mr. Y went to assume his assignment as General
Manager of the company, the employees at the instigation of
the union, would not let him take office. They assaulted and
removed him from the office, also alleged that he was
responsible for Mr. X death. Further, they claimed, no
"outsider" can be the General Manager; he must be from the
    company's senior executives.

 The corporation makes three member Department OF Inquiry
to testify the assault on Mr. Y but it adjourns for lack of
evidence. Then they again institute a criminal case against the
union leaders but this also dismiss for lack of witness.
1. The employees of H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. wants the top level
management is controlled by their own people.
2. The employees of H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. not allow the
outsider to take the post of general manager.
3. H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. protest, because the R.T.
Corporation breaks the low after nine year. That the chief
executive/ general manager appointed by the R.T.
Corporation for the H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. among the
senior executives of the H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd.
4. H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. recognize that, R.T. Corporation
waits for the perfect situation to plant their executives in this
company. After sudden death of Mr. X’s R.T. Corporation got
the opportunity to implement their plan.
5. H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. want to know about the proper
reason for Mr. X’s death. Death of Mr. X’s containing lots of
ambiguity among the employees of H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd.
It create more suspense, because at that time Mr. Y’s is stay
with Mr. X’s in company’s rest house & Mr. Y is the senior
     executive of R.T. Corporation.
6. The employees and the trade union of H & H (Bangladesh)
Ltd. company want proper investigation of this matter. But
R.T. Corporation is not interested toward investigation.
7. After death, postmortem is only one way to find out the
reason of death. That’s why the employees and the trade
union want to testify the reason for Mr. X’s death by doing
     postmortem of dead body.
8. When R.T. Corporation expressed indifference to investigate
the cause of Mr. X’s death. By the instigation of the trade
union employees of H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. Became violate
and assault their new general manager who is from R.T.
     Corporation.
Answer
From the beginning of the case, we find out that H & H
(Bnagladesh) Ltd. is operating their business from very before
liberation. After liberation it became a subsidiary company of
R.T. Corporation. But the existing employees of the
organization are not taking it positively. For this reason many
   problems arises.
 Those problems are given below:-
1. When R.T. Corporation immediately appointed Mr. Y as the
general manager of the company. Against the decision of
    trade union.

2. Employees of H & H (Bnagladesh) Ltd. are arises question
about Mr. X’s death and they think Mr. Y is responsible for
     his death.
3. They also claimed that, there is a connection between the
sudden death of Mr. X and immediately charge hand over to
     Mr. Y.

4. Employees of H & H (Bnagladesh) Ltd. not allowed any
outsider to take charge of general manager.

5. R.T. Corporation wants to take over the H & H (Bnagladesh)
Ltd., to rule as per their autocratic phenomenon.

6. Destroy the fundamental rights of the employees of H & H
     (Bnagladesh) Ltd.
7. R.T. Corporation wants to take control over the managerial
positions or line authority. But it is hard to implement the
plan against the aware employees of H & H (Bnagladesh) Ltd.

8. It is a matter of prestige, when employees of H & H
(Bnagladesh) Ltd. Assaulted and remove the senior executive
     of R.T. Corporation.

9. Against trade union leadership of H & H (Bnagladesh) Ltd.,
R.T. Corporation files criminal case. But, no evidence is
found to testify the real matter and identify those who are
     involved with the occurrence.
Answer
 The R.T. Corporation does some mistakes. These mistakes
can be held intentionally or unintentionally .For
the inappropriate managerial capacity of R.T. Corporation.

 The R.T. Corporation tries to establish autocratic power.
They don’t give any preference to the union representatives
as well as the employees. Employees are the vital part of the
organization. If they feel any deprivation from the
organization, they create chaos and raise their voice. The R.T.
Corporation cannot handle this situation appropriately. They
don’t understand the overall situation. As well as they try to
exercise their power. So they don’t bother the employees, as
a result they face this type of grievances.
 Again the employees claimed that they would not allow any outsider
to hold the office General Manager. That means the person must be
from the H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. The R.T. Corporation also
inaugurated a three member Department of inquiry. But they were
unable to find anyone to testify the assault on Mr. Y because for lack
    of evidence it is adjourn.

 Besides this the R.T. Corporation instituted a criminal case against
the union leaders who were responsible for the incident. But this
case also dismissed for lack of a witness willing to testify.

 Work place conflict is a natural phenomenon, it is inevitable. The
conflict is common problem, but when conflict is poorly managed
    that is the problem.

 Now the situation is very much chaotic and out of control. Many
conflicts are arising. So it is very much important to resolve the
conflict otherwise H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd can be closed.
So here some suggestions are given below, that should now be
   taken by the
corporation which helps to minimize the conflicting situation.

1. The present General Manager Mr. Y can be removed from the
post because for him the conflict started and union demand
     also that.

2. A conversation or discuss can be taken place between union
     representatives and management though collective
bargaining they can reach in a peaceful solution.

3. If Mr. Y is not responsible for the death of Mr. X then they
can try to prove it and management has to suspend Mr. Y
for the time being. After that management can appoint him
     again if they right.
4. Try to negotiate in this way that every party will be in a Win –
     Win situation.

4. Appoint another general manager from the H & H (Bangladesh).

5. If this possible then transfer the present General Manager in
     another Location.

6. Conflict occurs due to poor communication, lack of openness
and trust between employees and failure of manager to be open
to their employees. So these must be avoided.

7. Establish sound industrial environment and democracy.

8. Find out the real causes of disputes and make solutions.

9. Avoiding strike, lock out, Gharao etc as well as labor unrest.
At first to insure the situation or acceptable work place
  for everyone
their maintaining the following steps:-
 The authority should be fair trustable and give the equal
opportunities for everyone and must be co-operative.

 If they want to gain more profit or needed healthy environment then
must maintain good relation with each other.

 The R.T. Corporation relay and respect for H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd.
They can appoint the General Manager from H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd.

 They must arrange the monthly meeting, where they have to listen
the employees demand and provide a peaceful solution by collective
    bargaining.
From the above discussion case study we can see that if in an
organization they have coordination between employees and
management, obviously they can ignore conflicting situation.
Management must have the knowledge of handling the whole
organization and demand of employees that help the
organization to run in long survival. Because sometimes
conflicting situation are more unfavorable. So management
has to take care of the interest of employees as well as the
objective of employers. In this way the organization runs
  smoothly.
Thank
 You

  • 11. Answer  The R.T. Corporation does some mistakes. These mistakes can be held intentionally or unintentionally .For the inappropriate managerial capacity of R.T. Corporation.  The R.T. Corporation tries to establish autocratic power. They don’t give any preference to the union representatives as well as the employees. Employees are the vital part of the organization. If they feel any deprivation from the organization, they create chaos and raise their voice. The R.T. Corporation cannot handle this situation appropriately. They don’t understand the overall situation. As well as they try to exercise their power. So they don’t bother the employees, as a result they face this type of grievances.
  • 12. Again the employees claimed that they would not allow any outsider to hold the office General Manager. That means the person must be from the H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. The R.T. Corporation also inaugurated a three member Department of inquiry. But they were unable to find anyone to testify the assault on Mr. Y because for lack of evidence it is adjourn.  Besides this the R.T. Corporation instituted a criminal case against the union leaders who were responsible for the incident. But this case also dismissed for lack of a witness willing to testify.  Work place conflict is a natural phenomenon, it is inevitable. The conflict is common problem, but when conflict is poorly managed that is the problem.  Now the situation is very much chaotic and out of control. Many conflicts are arising. So it is very much important to resolve the conflict otherwise H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd can be closed.
  • 13. So here some suggestions are given below, that should now be taken by the corporation which helps to minimize the conflicting situation. 1. The present General Manager Mr. Y can be removed from the post because for him the conflict started and union demand also that. 2. A conversation or discuss can be taken place between union representatives and management though collective bargaining they can reach in a peaceful solution. 3. If Mr. Y is not responsible for the death of Mr. X then they can try to prove it and management has to suspend Mr. Y for the time being. After that management can appoint him again if they right.
  • 14. 4. Try to negotiate in this way that every party will be in a Win – Win situation. 4. Appoint another general manager from the H & H (Bangladesh). 5. If this possible then transfer the present General Manager in another Location. 6. Conflict occurs due to poor communication, lack of openness and trust between employees and failure of manager to be open to their employees. So these must be avoided. 7. Establish sound industrial environment and democracy. 8. Find out the real causes of disputes and make solutions. 9. Avoiding strike, lock out, Gharao etc as well as labor unrest.

At first to insure the situation or acceptable work place for everyone their maintaining the following steps:-  The authority should be fair trustable and give the equal opportunities for everyone and must be co-operative.  If they want to gain more profit or needed healthy environment then must maintain good relation with each other.  The R.T. Corporation relay and respect for H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd. They can appoint the General Manager from H & H (Bangladesh) Ltd.  They must arrange the monthly meeting, where they have to listen the employees demand and provide a peaceful solution by collective bargaining.
  • 16. From the above discussion case study we can see that if in an organization they have coordination between employees and management, obviously they can ignore conflicting situation. Management must have the knowledge of handling the whole organization and demand of employees that help the organization to run in long survival. Because sometimes conflicting situation are more unfavorable. So management has to take care of the interest of employees as well as the objective of employers.
