Indie folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s, influenced by 1950s-1970s folk music and singer-songwriters. Notable indie folk artists include Of Monsters and Men, Gabrielle Aplin, and Ben Howard. These newer bands have emerged prominently in the last decade, gaining popularity through festivals and online platforms. Key characteristics of indie folk include the use of guitars and natural, understated aesthetics in both music and appearance.
