prominent writer of Kannada
and English literature

4. According to Karl Marx society is in a state of
perpetual
conflict because of competition for limited
recourses . It holds that social order is maintained
by domination and power rather than consensus
and conformity

7. There were main four casts or class in early time
but when “The Purpose” was published India
was divided into caste-sub casts
Lower class is the victim of fake rules and
regulation
They have no Fundamental Rights

8. Play “The Purpose” is based on Mahabharata
Eklavya and Arjun are the main characters
Class conflict is one of the major themes in “The
Purpose”

Arjuna saw Eklavya’s archery skill
and Arjuna get angry on Drona
Arjuna says that Drona has not kept
his promise and taught archery to
Eklavya
And to kept the promise of Guru
Drona Eklavya cuts his thumb
as Guru Dakshina

13. Thus we can see class conflict and Dominance
of power and how it becomes the reason for
injustice with Eklavya in play “The Purpose” by
