This document discusses similarities between mythical creatures in Indian and Western mythology. It provides Indian counterparts for common Western mythical creatures like griffins, sphinxes, and dragons. The griffin is compared to the Indian sharabha, described as a lion with eagle wings and sometimes an elephant face. The two-headed eagle of European coats of arms is mirrored by the Indian gandaberunda. Indian sphinxes are said to guard Hindu temples similarly to their Egyptian counterparts. Vrita, a demon killed by Indra, is suggested as a counterpart to dragons in other mythologies.
