INTRODUCTION
The Institute are spread across the country through its 46
Regional Centres and more than 181 Student Chapters. The
Regional Centres promote and complement the activities
and objectives of the Institute within their respective
territorial limits by organizing meetings, conferences and
seminars; arranging workshops, refresher courses and
counselling sessions; promoting research; guiding
chemical engineering students in career planning.
Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) was made on
18 May 1947 at a room in Jadavpur University, Kolkata, with
30 members, little fund and nominal infrastructure. IIChE
has come a long way since. Today, with around 30,000
members .

4. Benefits of IIChE Membership
IIChE is the recognized forum of chemical engineers in India,
membership of the Institute itself is considered as a professional
accomplishment of a person.
1. A member can join numerous seminars, workshops,
training programmes, special lectures, industry visits and
other professional activities. Participation in such
programme is either free or may involve a subsidized
fee.
2. IIChE has an active consultancy programme. An
interested member may seek and get help from the
Institute in his endeavour to offer consultancy services
to potential industrial customers and recommendation
also.

seminars specifically meant for them and can
participate in a number of competitions like essay
competition, quiz competition, best paper award,
etc. One of such popular seminar is SCHEMCON
which is organized by one of the IIChE Student
Chapters every year
.

Professional Meet called CHEMCON on a
subsidized fee.

11. CHEMCON 2022 – THEME
Sustainability in Chemical Processes through Digitalization, Artificial intelligence,
and Green Chemistry.
Digitalization transforms the Chemical Industry rapidly across its entire value chain through
predictive maintenance and process automation.Similarly, there are applications of Artificial
Intelligence in the Chemical Engineering field, such as modeling, optimization, process control,
reaction engineering, fault detection and diagnosis.
Sustainability Chemistry also called as Green Chemistry is an area of Chemistry & Chemical
Engineering focused on the design of products and processes that eliminate the use and generation
of hazardous substances and make the global environment clean and safe

CHEMCON 2022 covers themes relevant to the Chemical Engineering and allied profession through plenary, invited lecture, and poster
