1) A group of students at Loreto Day School in Sealdah noticed that some students were wasting food during lunch breaks, throwing uneaten food in the dustbins which created an unhygienic mess.
2) The students decided to create posters reminding others not to waste food and clean up the area around the dustbins.
3) They spoke to other students to raise awareness of the issue and those in need, asking students to only take the amount of food they would eat to prevent waste. They saw success in reducing wasted food and a cleaner eating area as a result.
This is an environmental based community issues solving project that requires effort from a team of university students to make changes to the small part of the society. Check out what we have done in this report!

Step 1- Feel:
• FOOD is precious but some children in the school during break
time waste food .
• uneaten food is thrown in the dustbins
• area around the dustbins becomes very dirty with food strewn all
around it .
• some of the school children are provided lunch they very often
waste and throw into the dustbin.
Step 2- Imagine: After group discussion we planned:
• to make posters and put around the kitchen and lunch area
• to clean the area around the dustbins to create a hygienic
ambience .
• to talk to the students and create awareness as well as remind them
of their responsibilities towards one another .
Step 3- Do:
• Made posters and created an awareness among the students that
there are many people who have no food to eat.
• Requested the students to take only that much food which they can have.
• Asked them not to waste food.
• Cleaned the area around the dustbin and pasted a tag onto it that read –
“DO NOT WASTE FOOD”
Step 4- Share:
• Text and illustrative document pictures and file.
2. • We ourselves were transformed while planning and executing this project.
• We too stopped wasting food not only in school but at home as well.
