The students of St. Karen's Montessori School in Patna organized activities to help underprivileged children in an orphanage and village school. They held a fundraiser to buy toys and gifts, and put together activity bags with school supplies. The students visited the orphanage on two occasions, playing games, doing magic shows and distributing gifts which brought smiles and joy. They also visited a village school, performing skits and giving the children school bags filled with materials as well as larger gifts like games. A little performance of skits on personal hygiene and cleanliness, drew smiles and little snickers! Confusion ensued when we started distributing their school bags but very soon they settled down to their colouring and dot-to-dot activities.Really not prepared fpr another onslaught of gifts,the little ones were wide eyed when they saw the common gifts for their school—2 big, colourful Carrom/Ludo boards,6 snakes and ladders boards,cricket sets(for boys), toy kitchen sets( for girls), balls and rackets…it was more than they could imagine!! Giving came easily when we worked together - we decided we could and would do the same on our own as well. We realised that it wasn’t difficult to SPREAD SMILES AND MULTIPLY JOYS—we just had to WANT to make the change!
