The document discusses options for distributing an independent film. It notes that until recently, film distribution options were limited and expensive. While an independent distributor like See-saw Films could work well given the unique nature of the film, a larger company like Columbia Pictures may be needed to access production facilities, equipment, and ensure financial success. Online distribution is also proposed to make the film widely accessible without the need to go to theaters. YouTube and social media are suggested for advertising clips and trailers to generate buzz and allow word-of-mouth promotion.

Impact of Strong Rupee on Indian EconomyNirav Desai
This document discusses business opportunities for the IT industry in India with a stronger rupee. It notes that a stronger rupee would lower costs for imported oil, coal, and other goods. The government could then invest this freed up cash in projects like smart grids, biometric databases, and IT sector initiatives to enhance the economy. A stronger rupee would also allow IT companies to focus more on the growing domestic market in areas like telecom, education, healthcare and manufacturing.
The document discusses the process of developing an opening sequence for a thriller film. It describes researching techniques used in films like Vertigo to establish tension. Test shots were taken from different angles to see which most clearly showed the main character running without camera shake. The opening sequence aims to create mystery around the identity of a man under a bag and keep the audience wondering if he is the antagonist or protagonist, following thriller conventions while also breaking some rules to intrigue viewers.

1) The document discusses making IT costs transparent to business managers by creating an inventory of all IT assets, determining the total cost of supporting each asset, and providing managers with reports on how much their business unit spends on different IT resources and products.
2) Once managers understand exactly what they are paying for IT, they can make better decisions about managing demand and focusing spending on higher-value investments. They may reduce consumption of certain costly resources.
3) Implementing an IT cost transparency program requires effort but can result in annual IT cost savings of 5-10% through both reduced consumption from the business side and improved cost controls on the IT side.

India has been able to produce enough wheat and rice to feed a population of more than 1 billion people with a low co-efficient of variation of 10 for more than 20 years. That is a great achievement. Higher risks in certain states is due to lower availability of water. Alternatives to wheat and rice in high risk states can be identified by correlation analysis as shown here.
The document describes the design of a 16-bit Brent Kung adder. It includes:
1. The gate-level diagram of the Brent Kung adder showing the input, intermediate, and output blocks.
2. The transistor-level design of the gates used in the adder like the XOR gate. Optimization of inverter sizes is also discussed.
3. Layout of the full adder occupying an area of 49.5um by 48.6um in 45nm technology.
The document provides details of the adder design from the circuit architecture and gate-level implementation to the transistor-level design and layout.

Does India need an Infrastructure Budget?Nirav Desai
The document discusses factors that could promote industrial growth through a national infrastructure budget. It argues that replacing VAT with a Goods and Services Tax (GST) would avoid cascading taxation effects. It also stresses the importance of a strong, stable currency to reduce costs for manufacturers, as well as well-developed transportation infrastructure like ports, railways, and roads. The document recommends investing in research and development to identify areas of core competence, and provides semiconductors as an example of a lucrative industry India could pursue with the right patents and a fabrication facility.
This document discusses strategies for analyzing and negotiating network equipment service and maintenance contracts to reduce operating expenses. The key points are:
1. Performing an analysis of existing service contracts can reveal opportunities to lower costs by aligning support levels with business needs and negotiating more favorable terms. Savings of 5-10% are typical from negotiations alone, but analysis can enable reductions of up to 90%.
2. The analysis involves categorizing spending, verifying cost calculations, determining the optimal support mix, and preparing negotiating metrics like cost per incident. This data is used to negotiate new contract terms with suppliers.
3. Timing negotiations strategically, such as coordinating with planned purchases, and establishing a tiered vendor strategy
This document summarizes Porter's value chain analysis for food retail in India. It outlines the key components of the value chain including inbound logistics of procuring fruits and vegetables from farmers, operations like sorting and packing produce, outbound logistics of distribution to stores and customers, marketing and sales through retail stores and online channels, services provided to customers, firm infrastructure like collection centers and refrigerated warehouses, human resource management training farmers, use of technology in supply chain and inventory management, and procurement of indirect purchases from third parties. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
1.
2. Firstly the main way in
which our media products
use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of
real media products is the
way in which we use the
conventions of a normal
trailer. For example, right
at the beginning of our
trailer, we had a shot of
information from the
MPAA. We wanted to use
the BBFC but it was too
difficult to find the
information, therefore we
had to settle for the next
best.
3. Our next shot was
information on our
production company.
Production company
information often appears at
the beginning of film trailers,
this is one of the
conventions that we
purposely followed when
creating our trailer. We also
put a well-known production
company at the beginning of
our trailer in order to get the
audience attention, and for
them to recognise the
producers of the film.
4. Another way in which our
main media product
follows the conventions of
real media products is the
typography that we use in
our trailer. In real horror
trailers, we often see the
conventional dark
background with white
writing in this type of
genre and this is
something that we used in
our trailer.
5. In terms of conventional costumes, we felt that
we would like our film to be more naturalistic to
make it appeal to our audience even more. We
felt that it was vitally important to have quick
cut and editing in our trailer. We did this in
order to meet the conventions of a trailer.
6. In addition to that, another element that we added to
our horror trailer as part of the traditional codes and
conventions is that that we added conventional
sound to our trailer. In order for our trailer to look
like a horror, we had to make it sound like one. In
our horror trailer we tried to make traditional horror
music, in the sense that it created a sense of
anxiety and tension.
7. In terms of our
magazine, we
took ideas from
the leading film
magazine
company called
“Empire.” We took
vital parts of the
magazine and
ensured that we
had them in our
magazine.
Examples of this
are the use of the
barcode and the
title colours etc.
8. In terms of our poster, we
used the conventional
colours of the horror
genre. For example, we
had a dark background
with white bold writing.
This already shows that
we are following the
codes and the
conventions of the genre.
