E1.You got the moves
• The X movement was significant peasant agitation, initiated in Bengal by the
Kisan Sabha (peasant front of the Communist Party of India) in 1946–47.
During the early nineteen century a new class of rich peasants known
as jotedars emerged in the Bengal region.The large agricultural areas under
the jotedars were cultivated through sharecroppers (also known as
bhagadars), who handed over half of the crop after the harvest to the
jotedars.
• The demand of the X (lit. sharing by thirds) movement was to reduce the
landlord share to one third. In many areas the agitations turned violent, and
landlords fled, leaving parts of the countryside in the hands of Kisan Sabha. In
1946, sharecroppers began to assert that they would pay only one-third and
that before division the crop would stay in their godowns and not that of the
Jotedars.Though an act was launched in their favour, after subduing the
violence, it would not come to fruition until 1950.

• This highly skilled art form is more than 500 years old and is
traditionally done by local artisans on the Eastern shores of Odisha.
Presently, the workers are largely from the district of Cuttack,
where the art flourishes. According to sources, the art may have

• This is a pilgrimage centre located at the PeriyarTiger Reserve in Kerala.
