presenting a compelling argument but also in strategically building and developing it to
effectively sway the reader's perspective. This task requires a deep understanding of the subject
matter, a keen awareness of the target audience, and the ability to construct a coherent and
logical progression of ideas.
One of the primary challenges is to strike the right balance between providing sufficient evidence

Brunner s Gland Hamartoma
Brunner s gland hamartoma is an uncommon benign lesion which is most commonly
found in the bulb of the duodenum. It is often a small lesion which is asymptomatic.
Most are found incidentally during upper gastrointestinal series or
esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Symptoms are often hemorrhage or duodenal
obstructive symptoms which are mainly due to ulceration of the lesions.
Histologically, Brunner s gland hamartoma consists of components of Brunner s
gland cells, containing glandular, adipose and muscle cells. In this study we report a
case of a 30 year old man presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and
obstructive symptoms due to a giant Brunner s gland hamartoma in the duodenal
bulb. The hamartoma was removed successfully by endoscopic resection without
significant complications. Microscopically, the lesion was found to be entirely
composed of variable Brunner s glands and adipocytes. Key Words: Brunner s gland,

was initially seen in a primary clinic and underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy
where a duodenal subepithelial lesion was found. He was diagnosed with lipoma by
endoscopic ultrasonography. He was treated conservatively and subsequent
abdominal ultrasound and colonoscopy findings were normal. The patient received
8 units of blood transfusion twice for iron deficiency anemia. However, the patient
did not improve over three months, and had ongoing dizziness and nausea. He was
then referred to this hospital for further investigation of gastrointestinal bleeding and

The Effect Of Peer Pressure On Children
Just take one sip, your half drunk best friend says. You know you do not want to,
but you are hesitant to say no, why? Children and teenagers everywhere are being
constantly pestered by their peers to do what is cool in order to fit in.
Unfortunately, some people will cave in to the enticing offer in order to keep their
friends and a popular reputation. This is known as peer pressure. Peer pressure is the
influence an individual feels from a personor group of people around his/her age to
do something he/she would not consider trying. In addition, peer pressure provides
a number of negative effects such as, tempting an individual to try bad activities,
causing him/her to rely too much on the group of people, and leading a person poor
choices. There are a surplus amount of negative effects peer pressure can provide for
adolescents around the world. One negative effectof peer pressure is it will tempt an
individual to try bad activities. To begin, by being with immature friends that
encourage wrong activities, they can influence he/she to make those bad decisions.
Most teenagers what to be popular or fit in, so they feel obligated to do what is
favored amongst their peers. Even though teenagers know it is the wrong decision,
they are still hesitant to say no. In addition, once an individual tried a bad activity, it
starts to become a habit. According to the Underage Research Drinking Initiative,

The Battle Against Grendel s Mother
Beowulf sets his sights towards Grendel s mother shortly after the second attack
on Heorot. Grendel s mother is similarly linked to Cain just as her son was.
According to the selection, it is said that after Cain was cast away by God, his mark
of murder followed him. Everywhere Cain walked, monsters and shadows arose from
the ground in which Grendel s mother is a result of. It is interesting to note that the
story of Beowulfeffortlessly contorted the Christian story of Cain by adding Pagan
influences such as monsters. Nonetheless, like previous battles, the fight against
Grendel s mother was a result of vengeance. Grendel s mother lived miserably in
dark, monster infested waters, but caused no harm until the death of her son whom
she was obligated to avenge. Soon after her introduction into the story, the reader is
informed that she injured many, but it was the murder of the king s closest advisor
that was most troubling . As one can imagine vengeance is necessary to bring justice
to the situation even though the Pagan principle of vengeance defies Christian
ideals. The characters in the story understand that this fiend is no weak one, and
they offer Beowulf gear in preparation for the battle. As Beowulf prepares to avenge
the death of the king s advisor, he is given Hrunting, a special sword. This once again
introduces another Pagan element. As the aforementioned, Paganism strongly
believed in magical entities; special swords are no exception. Hrunting was
Anne Bradstreet s Upon The Burning Of Our House
William Bradford was one of the main reasons that the Puritan movement got
rolling. He led puritans to the New World. When people wanted to give up he
pushed them to keep moving. Bradford believed in something, stood for it, and did
something about it. It was because of him that the Puritans could live and have
freedom of beliefs. His writings were historical narratives. He talked about the
lifestyle of Puritans. He wrote Of Plymouth Plantation, which was about the colony s
first years in America. Bradford gives a telling account of how the Pilgrims were
forced to flee to Holland in 1608, the immense suffering they underwent while there,
their manner of living in that alien land, and their eventual determination to sail to the
New World. Bradford... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was serious, plain, and to the point. They felt it needed to be practical. Religion
played a huge role in the lives of Puritans. They ate, slept, and breathed this. Through
each of the writings of William Bradford, Anne Bradstreet, and Jonathan Edwards
readers can see the essence of Puritanism. The three principles of Puritans (God s
grace, simplicity, and divine mission) can be mirrored through each author s
works. My personal favorite author of the three is Anne Bradstreet. I am an
emotional person and I admire that all of her writings are from the heart and
completely relatable on every level. There is something about the way that she
writes that makes you feel what she is feeling, because in some way in your own
personal life there is a similar situation. In her poem Upon the Burning of Our
House she talks about watching her house burn. Although I have not watched my
house burn, I have seen things so dear to me get caught in flames so to speak. God
has more than once tried to put things in perspective for me and remind me that this
world is temporal and not eternal, that my focus should be on Him. I can relate with
Bradstreet on the value of earthly and eternal treasures. Anne Bradstreet s poetry
spoke more than just in the colonial times. It is ever more present in today s time and

Christian Meta-Narrative In The Book Of Revelation
It is said that the basic Christian meta narrative of history is present throughout the
Book of Revelation. But, what does this mean? First one must understand simply
what a meta narrative is. A meta narrative is a narrative or story which claims to
explain something totally. The Christian meta narrative provides a theological
worldview centered on Jesusvictory at the cross and derives its understanding of the
world through the teachings of the Bible. The Book of Revelationprovides for its
readers images to coincide with the Christian meta narrative. These images can later
be used to relate the themes of Revelation to how they are held true in the past,
present, and future of the world.

Revelation 20:1 15 tells how the angel of God came down and chained up the
Dragon (Satan), and then all of the souls who had died for Jesus and the word of
God came to life and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The thousand
years referenced in this bible verse was symbolic of Christ s resurrection victory
over death and how the people of God were going to share in His glorious reign.
Examples of these events can be pulled from the world, Church, and even events of
history and the Bible. This image is a particularly true representation of a time of
unrest in a country. Many wars are started and fought long and hard, but long
before the wars officially ends there can be seen an evident and certain victor. This
is especially evident when looking back upon wars fought in history. Though it did
not seem so at the time, the victor was clearly when looking back upon them from
the future. The theme of the image is interpreted to mean that Jesus Christ, the
Lamb of God, has already died and saved us from our sins; however, Satan is still
present in the world seeking the ruins of souls. The work of Satan can easily be
contradicted thanks to the victory of Jesus Christ, opening up the gates of heaven for
us and offering us redemption from our
Battle Of Hastings Dbq
The Battle of Hastings happened on the 14th of October 1066 in East Sussex
which is outside of Hastings. The battle was between Harold Godwinson and
William, duke of Normandy. There are three main reasons why William won the
Battle of Hastings; this is because William had a head start and he also has cavalry.
The main reason he won was because during the battle William ordered his foot
soldiers to run away so that the English would go downhill after them.
One reason why William won the Battle of Hastings was because of his preparation
and readiness for the battle. His army were provided with cavalry that were trained to
kick, bite and head butt. This is shown in the Bayeux Tapestry and source 3 where
there are soldiers seen fighting on horses. I know that William s half brother
organised the creation of the tapestry so the information on it is likely to be accurate.
This meant William won the Battle of Hastings because he had an extra weapon that
the English didn t have therefore could surprise them, attack and leave more damage.

William ordered his foot soldiers to fake retreat. This is found in Source 5 because it
shows William and Harold s movements. My opinion is that doing this is very
intelligent because doing this tricks the opposing team. This meant that William won
the Battle of Hastings because it this meant that the English got confused so they
followed the Normans down the hill, therefore breaking the shield wall. When they
were at the bottom of the hill, the Normans killed the Bretons quickly so without
William making this decision, it would ve been less likely that the Saxons would ve
won the Battle of
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle ( Jltv )
Introduction
The joint light tactical vehicle (JLTV) is being destined to initiate a new era of the
U.S. military tactical vehicle that is designed to meet universal requirements for the
future warfare and in hostile environments. Thus, at the same time, Joint Light
Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) has been offering fruitful case study for the assessment on its
program management and procurement processes.
Therefore, this paper will briefly provide fundamental assessment on the JLTV
program from the requirement development through its current state including
budgeting, acquisition process and some challenges faced in the requirements. In
addition, it will also highlight some observations on best practices that might be
applicable for the future ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, enhanced survivability and both strategic and operational
transportability by sea and air are also crucial for the JLTV project requirements.
The primary mission of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) is to provide
protected, sustained, and networked light tactical mobility to the Joint forces, capable
of worldwide deployment across the full spectrum of military operations and mission
profiles under all weather and terrain conditions.
In addition, it has been designed that the JLTV would support C3 in both immobile
and mobile modes, various wider ranges in complex and dynamic operational
environments.
Nevertheless, initial concept composed of three variants based on different payload
capabilities, four passenger Combat Tactical Vehicle (CTV) and a two passenger
Combat Support Vehicle (CSV) variants were survived as a final choice. The Joint
Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) of the DoD that provides a close oversight
to joint acquisition programs and makes recommendations to the Defense Acquisition
Board has approved the JLTV program which would be led by the Army in November
2006.
It was notable that, even though, joint Army/Marine Corps had intended to issue a
Request for Proposal (RFP) for Technology Development Phase by October 2007, the
Pentagon s acquisition executive, John Young disapproved the issuance of the RFP
due to deep concern on funding adequacy, technical maturity, and shifting
requirements.

Descriptive Essay On The Park
I was walking towards the park my father always took me to do my project when I
was little, Let me go! I heard a girl scream.
I tried to see where it was coming from, as I looked across the green grass wondering
if it was my imagination or not. The grass had been recently mowed and the trees
had animals on them as if the whole city was perfect. I heard it again, Please let me
go!
I decided to put my textbooks and the designing journal down on the bench. In the
city we live in, there is no crime so nobody would steal my stuff. I tried to hear
where the scream came from. As I walked around the whole park, the sound grew
fainter. I found where the sound was coming from. I hid behind a big, green, and
growing tree. She looked tired but strong. The guards didn t look happy. It was rare
seeing them since there is no crime in Yasashi. They had her in handcuffs. She
scanned the park. We locked eyes. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of purple. Her
eyes were a like mine. Except my eyes were a little brown and slowly turned
purple. In Yasashi it was common for people to have brown eyes. So it was rare
seeing another person like me who had purple eyes. So it was rare seeing another

A growth stock is a stock of a company that produces tolerable and considerable
positive cash flow. A secondary issue is also known as a secondary market
offering, which is a registered offering of a huge block of security that has been
issued to the public beforehand. There are two basic types of stock, including
common stock and preferred stock. Both types have pros and cons, so before
buying a corporations stock, it is better to choose which one is most pleases. In
addition, a common stock is the basic stock that a corporation issues. For example,
it shows that people own a part or fraction of the company. Failures and successes
of the company are directly influenced by the common stocks. Common stocks are
more of a gamble. Since there is a greater chance of making profit, their dividends
or profits issue the common stock, after the preferred stock, (Whang Seunjgjin,
720). After all of the common stock has been issued, companies start to deal out
preferred stock. A preferred stock is an important equity security that has properties
as both equity and a debt instrument and is basically considered a hybrid instrument.
Before the common stock owners, the preferred stock owners supplied their
dividends. If the company ceases to do business, and liquidates, the preferred stock
owners are repaid the money, in which they invested before the stockholders are
balanced. The main disadvantages of preferred
Fate In Plutarch s Works
Parallel to objects that gleam brilliantly, stars are nothing more than a beacon; for
man has the power to illuminate the road towards his own destiny. Fate does not
shape one s destiny, but rather one should strive to define their own fate. Plutarch, a
Greek philosopher in Rome during the 2nd century A.D personifies the notion of fate
and destinywith his tales about Julius Caesar in a historical document titled Lives
of the Nobles:Julius Caesar. Likewise, William Shakespeare, an English poet,
embodies the same overall ideal of fate and destiny, but with some minor alterations
in his play, The Tragedy of Julius as it s based upon Plutarch s work. In both pieces
of literature, though, the account of Caesar s rise to power is illustrated. Shakespeare

Shakespeare made this change most likely to highlight Caesar s thirst for power to
the point where he would view himself as a God. Similarly, Shakespeare also
illustrates that Caesar is a sufferer of seizures and that the pressure from having to
reject the crown was too much for him, resulting in a seizure which also further
uncovers his lust for power. This arrogance is also illustrated by Caesar
disregarding the premonition from the Soothsayer. Further, other characters that
are transformed by Shakespeare include Brutus, who is actually the true main
character in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. I do fear for the people. Choose Caesar
for their king. Yet I love him as well (Shakespeare scene 2, line 78 82). The Tragedy
of Julius Caesar depicts mostly his inner conflict of choosing between his loyalty
to Caesar or his own endearment towards the citizens and country of Rome. Based
on Brutus s love for the people and the troubles he is willing to endure for them
reveals that he is a noble, yet easily manipulated character. Cassius, a character also
introduced in Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, attempts to manipulate
Brutus, who is lost and muddled in his inner conflict to murder Caesar. Cassius
attempts can be evidenced as he

Alcohol Consumption Among College Students
Abstract
Alcohol consumption is an important social concern for many people. This study
opted to analyze how gender affects the level of alcohol consumption among college
students. After conducting a survey with 30 participants, the results proved that H1
hypothesis Gender significantly affects the level of alcohol consumption was
validated with a p value of 0.026. Additionally, H2 hypothesis Men significantly
consume more alcohol than women do was also validated with a mean of 2.4 in terms
of consumption. H3 hypothesis Women significantly consume more alcohol than
men do was nullified because of the average mean being only 1.27. The p value of
significance provided insight on the level of alcohol consumption, further solidifying
the claim. It can be therefore concluded that gender played an important role as a
determiner of the impact on level of alcohol consumption and men tend to consume
more alcohol. The data are backed up by recent studies and similar assumptions and
conclusions.
Introduction Alcohol consumption among college students is steadily increasing due
to the nature of the environment inducing such behavior to alleviate stress, as a
form of recreation, or a means of establishing a lifestyle. According to Randolph et
al. (2009), the frequency of alcohol consumption is bound to increase in the decade
because of observed behavior and peer pressure. Additionally, according to Ceylan

Extend Your Understanding (Optional)
Engineers need to know what problems they are addressing. They must have an idea
about the degree to which the solution should be carried out, along with what the
solution should do to solve the problem. The engineer must also work within
constraints, such as time and budget. A design brief is a tool that is used to
concisely identify the problem, solution expectations, and project constraints. The
engineer will often return to the design brief throughout a design process to assess
the progress and validity of his or her creative work.
Imagine that you are part of that design team. The project leader has given you the
responsibility of creating a design brief that defines the problem, states the
expectations that the solution must meet, and identifies the project criteria and

the design process.

Roberto Assagioli s The Scarlet Letter
Without forgiveness life is governed by... an endless cycle of resentment and
retaliation, by Roberto Assagioli can be the essence of the theme vengeance and
forgiveness that Nathaniel Hawthorn weaves in throughout his novel, The Scarlet
Letter. Hawthorn weaves in the theme vengeance and forgiveness to encourage us to
forgive people more often to avoid resentment and retaliation as part of the many
lessons he tries to teach his readers. This theme is one of the major themes in the
novel and it has been developed in two different ways using the three main characters,
Hester, Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth. The first way Hawthorn uses to develop the
theme is through the Puritan community and Hester. The scarlet letter, a symbol of
the communities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take Chillingworth as an example, he made the very principle of his life to consist
in the pursuit and systematic exercise of revenge (Chapter 24, pg. 257) due to his
inability to forgive Dimmesdale. Hawthorn s perspective on the theme is extremely
relevant today, in twenty first century California, especially about how people can
go insane with vengeance. A perfect instance that supports Hawthorn s perspective
would be murder. Even though there are some cases that people would kill without
a motive, for money, for fun, etc... A majority of the cases have reasons behind it
and they are commonly associated with vengeance. People would commit murder as
a form of punishment, but none of this punishment would have been required if they
are willing to forgive. Hawthorn s perspective on the theme vengeance and
forgiveness still applies to our modern society because some people are still not
willing to forgive, just like
Second Earl Of Rochester Essay
The satirists shared a talent for making other individuals feel uncomfortable,
particularly by making them aware of their own moral inadequacies. They used
irony, derision, and wit to attack human vice or folly. One method the satirist utilized
to catch their readers attention, while also making them feel uncomfortable, was to
describe those things that were deemed inappropriate to discuss openly in society.
The classical example of a topic that was discussed behind closed doors, yet the
satirist used freely, was sex. Mention of such things as sex can always bring a
giggle, excite feelings of hidden passion, or make one s cheeks rosy from
embarrassment. John Wilmot, Second Earlof Rochester, and Jonathan Swift, were two

In Rochester s Upon His Drinking a Bowl, Rochester joins the aspect of alcohol with
that of sex:
Cupid, and Bacchus, my Saints are,
May drink, and Love, still reign,
With Wine, I wash away my cares,
And then to Cunt again.
This attitude of sex and drunkenness is often associated with the ancient Greeks and
Romans, who Rochester makes reference to through Cupid and Bacchus. The wine
serves as a tool to rid oneself of their grasp on reason. It often drives away the
feeling of anxiety that often exist between a man and women during times of
intimacy. It allows one to satisfy their bodily pleasure.
The graphic word quot;Cunt quot; not only serves as a symbol of sex and the
female genitalia but is also used to bring about the disgust of any moralist or any
rational individual. A reasonable man would like to think that men do not view sex
and women in such a derogatory manner. According to Rochester, this is not so. Men
are crude creatures that do think of sex and women in such a manner.

Research Paper On Selenium
Selenium as an additive to glass is its biggest use. Some selenium compounds
lighten the glass and other give it a deep red colour. It can also be used to lessen the
development of sunlight in architectural glass, giving it a tint of the color bronze.
Along with this, selenium is used to make paint, plastics, and pigments for ceramics.
Selenium has both photovoltaic action and photoconductive action, which means it s
also useful in photocells, solar cells, photocopiers, and can convert AC electricity to
DC electricity which means it s extensively used in rectifiers. Selenium is toxic

How Does Langston Hughes Write Mother To Son
In Mother to Son, Langston Hughes stresses the concern and affection parents extend
towards their children.
Most parents acquire a common desire, in which they want their kid to prosper
throughout their lifetime. This yearning causes them to devote a vast amount of time
and energy into reassuring their kids are following a path to success by working hard
and being determined. In this poem, the author deliberately chooses a mother to serve
as the primary speaker to create a dramatic scene as she powerfully expounds her
approach on life to her son, who also serves as the audience. She makes it her
responsibility to pass on wisdom to her son by alluding to the accomplishments and
failures she has experienced through the duration of her life.

Classification of Computer Users
The sound of the keyboard typing away and the clicking of the mouse throughout the
night has become a normal occurrence in every American household. Staying up until
two or three in the morning browsing the web has become a characteristic of many
computer users today. Since the personal computer has been invented life, work, and
pleasure have changed drastically. With the creation of the internet, the possibilities
with computers are all but endless. People now have the ability to communicate with
others from all over the world. With both of these technologies working together,
computers have become a necessity for homes and businesses ... Show more content

These are the people who leave their computers on all day and throughout the night
downloading music, movies, and anything else that is available. Torrents are very
popular due to the ease of access to the mass amounts of data made accessible to
anyone with internet access. The legality of these acts is questionable, but torrent
sites somehow manage to get around copyright infringements. Downloaders are
constantly working under the radar to get their hands on the newest software for no
charge. Downloaders are usually interested in computers with lots of hard drive space
to store their data on.

The workers are the people who use their computer for no other purpose than
making money. These are the people who are constantly checking if a client has
emailed them back, or making corrections to tomorrow s sales report. Workers
usually prefer to use laptop computers for the ease of transporting their data from
home to work. Many workers may actually own two computers, one for business
and one for pleasure. They usually have the newest and fastest computers, since
they can afford them. These people have no problem sitting in a chair typing for
eight hours a day if they are paid well to do so. Workers may be the most proficient
with a computer due to the fact that they are professionals.

Judicial Restraint Essay
Judicial restraint and judicial activism are two opposite approaches to the checks and
balances system found within the legal system of the United States. Although both
approaches are used to prevent the use of any fraudulent power within the
government, judicial activism is the interpretation of the Constitutionvia
contemporary traditions and values. Judicial restraint, on the other hand, limits the
power to strike down a law by faithfully applying precedent. This polarity may be
difficult to distinguish between, however three methods have been developed to
easier analyze which approach has been used. Based on the actions of the Supreme
Court, if the outcome of a case upholds laws and statues, upholds stare decisis, and
strictly adheres to the Constitution, the judge used judicial restraint. Moreover,
judicial activism would not necessarily uphold the laws and statues, stare decisis, or
adhere to the Constitution. Therefore, the most distinguishing factor that sets these
two apart is their ability to influence a change to public policy; judicial activism is a
direct form of public policy change.
The distinction between judicial activism and judicial restraint may seem very
prominent and clear cut now, yet the 2010 McDonald v. the city of Chicago case
arguably uses both approaches. On June 28th, 2010, the Supreme Court ruled (5 4),
that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right of
the people to keep and bear Arms, applies to state and local government as well as
to the federal government (BRITTANICA). The suit was filed to challenge the
provisions of a 1982 Chicago law that generally banned the new registration of
handguns and made registration a prerequisite to owning a firearm. This case is the
perfect example to showcase how judicial restraint and activism both act on the
outcome of a case.
The 2010 McDonald v. the city of Chicago case upheld precedents established on the
Duncan standard a more inclusive test based on the Duncan v Louisiana case
compelled the court to reject, on stare decisis, the main defendant s argument. The
Supreme Court adhered strictly to the Constitution, however, and based their outcome
on the fourteenth amendment. This amendment, focused on

Power And Ambition In Macbeth
Power is something one can find in all aspects of life. Whether in a relationship
between two people or over an entire country, many people hold power in their
lives. What is done with that power is up to the person who holds it and can be a
strong reflection of their character. Too many people in positions of power become
so wrapped up in wanting total control, that they lose sight of what is right and
wrong. In the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, power is demonstrated many
ways through many different characters. Power and ambition greatly affects the
choices people make everyday.
When used incorrectly, power can have harmful effects on the lives of many people,
and can lead to atrocious decisions. The term power hungry is used to ... Show more

This can be shown in the novel when it is said, At this there was a terrible baying
sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass studded collars came
bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from
his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws (Orwell 33). If the animals were
still living under normal conditions on the farm with Mr. Jones as the owner and
leader, Napoleon most likely would not have made this cruel decision. Overall, power
affects decisions of many famous literary characters.
Although a great majority of the time, power corrupts decisions, it also can have a
positive effect on choices. In the play Macbeth, one character who keeps in mind
what is best for the people is Malcolm. As the son of King Duncan, Malcolm has
virtuous morals and realizes that Macbeth is only in it for power instead of
thinking of what is best for the people of Scotland. Malcolm makes a choice to
fight back with the help of England. His choice to fight for power, although used
violence against Macbeth, was a positive decision because he was thinking of the
people and his father s legacy. His success is shown when he and Macduff defeat
Macbeth and Malcolm is named the new king. He exclaims to his people, [w]e shall

The Aeneid Betrayal
A major theme throughout book 4 of The Aeneid is the idea of love. This theme not
only deals with love, but the betrayal of love. Two sisters, Dido and Anna, both feel
betrayed respectively. Dido feels betrayed by the man she loves, Aeneas, when he
leaves her for Italy and also Anna by the untimely death of her sister. While these
sisters feel this betrayal by a person they loved, Anna is the more justified in her
feeling of betrayal because of the love she had for her sister and had right
reasoning for her betrayal. The bond that these two sisters had is one reason for
Anna s justification. The bond of siblings is a strong one. Like Paris was to Oenone,

While Dido was betrayed by the man she loved, she believed that they were married.
Dido and Aeneas did engage in the marital act while stuck in a cave one night, but
they never actually married. One of Dido s main reasons for feeling betrayed was
because she saw Aeneas leaving as her husband divorcing her when she asks Aeneas

My guest, since that s all that is left of me from the name husband (Aeneid 307 08,

feeling betrayed that her husband is leaving her, because they were never married.
Anna had right reasoning for her betrayal because she had been doing something
Dido wanted her to do, build a funeral pyre. Dido, however, did not tell Anna that
she would never see her sister again and also that she was assisting in her own

Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives
There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based
perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be
learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with
personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social
implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal
communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait
perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at
emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective.
Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of
intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being
defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several
subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research
is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is define as, the recognition and use
of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and regulate behavior,
(Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the field of
organizational communication.
Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves
and their colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals,

Alexander was grasping at the power he had heard Thebes kicked a Garrison of his

How Did W B Yeats Contribution To Irish Nationalism
The aim of this thesis is to concentrate on those poems of W.B. Yeats which deal with
Irish Nationalism. His poems intimately connect history and literature. The MLA 7th
edition format has been used in writing this thesis.
Nationalism is a doctrine invented in Europe in the beginning of the nineteenth
century. It pretends to supply the criterion for the determination of the unit of
population proper to enjoy a government exclusively of its own, for the legitimate
exercise of power in the state for the rights, organization, of a society, of states.
Briefly, the doctrine holds that humanity is naturally divided into nations, that nations
are known by certain characteristics which can be ascertained, and that the only
legitimate type of government is national self government. (Kedourie 9) The nation
state is the focus of nationalism. Nationalism is a sentiment and an ideology.
Nationalist sentiment means giving primacy to national interest above all interests.
Nationalist ideology may be defined as a desire of a group people living in a
particular geographical area to become an independent nation by evolving their own
language, symbol, flag and declaring national festivals, and people living in that area
following these rules. It is about loyalty towards the nation and if the nation is under

but through his writings he tried to revive a sense of pride among the people of Ireland

The End Of Feudalism In Europe
Many events in Europe lead to the decline of feudalism and the rise in democratic
thought. First, the Magna Carta and the Model Parliament helped to give everyone
more rights which created equality, and gave everyone a voice in government. Next,
the Hundred Years War also helped to push peasants to war who wanted to fight.
This then created a shortage of workers. Last, the Bubonic Plague also assisted in
creating a rise of democratic thought and the end of feudalism. In my opinion, the
Magna Carta, Model Parliament, the Hundred Years War, and the Bubonic Plague
were all contributing factors to the rise in democratic thought and the ending of
feudalism. To begin, the Hundred Years war largely affected Europe
and the feudal

Art Analysis Of Thomas P. Anshutz s A Rose
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in
oil on a canvas and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced
in Pennsylvania during 1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term
realism and then I narrowed down my search by selecting a filter to return paintings
as well as setting the geography filter to North America. The painting belongs to The
Metropolitan Museum of Art s collection and is on display in the American Wing in
the gallery of Images of Womanfrom 1880 to 1910.
I selected this painting because the colour contrast of the pink dress against the dark
background caught my eye. I also found the expression of the young woman to be
interesting.
The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background
is very dark but three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the
ground plane of the painting, an orange carpet can be seen covering the entire
floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens and blues. The cool toned colours
are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears to be a cabinet or a
desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with detailed
designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red
rose can be seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no
signs of withering in its petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to

Prompt 3: The central conflict of the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides is gender
identity which is shown through Calliope s struggle with determining and accepting
her true gender as a hermaphrodite. The conflict also affects other characters as it
causes grief, confusion, and leads to. Calliope s first encounter with her gender
identity crisis was when she develops feelings and sexual attraction to the Object
which is stated in Jerome knew what I was, as suddenly I did, too, for the first time
clearly understood that I wasn t a girl but something in between. I knew this from
how natural it had felt to enter Rex Reese s body, how right it felt, and I knew this
from the shocked expression on Jerome s face (375). The experience of having
intercourse with Jerome and fantasizing being in Rex s position shows that
Calliope isn t just a female but something in between and that adds more to her
suspicion and confusion of her actual gender. This also affects other characters as
it leads up to Calliope having a sexual relationship with the Object which reveals
the Object s true feelings towards Calliope and her actual sexuality. She also has
another encounter with her gender identity when she discovers that she s
biologically a boy who had been raised as a girl. In the file by Dr. Luce, it describes
Calliope s condition with the description As the girl s gender identity was firmly

Reaction Rate Of Reaction
Background: A clock reaction generally involves a mixture of solutions that, after a
certain amount of time, displays a sudden colour change. This process demonstrates
chemical kinetics in action, which is the study of chemical processes and rates of
reaction where the reaction rate is the speed at which the chemical reactionproceeds.
It is dependent on several factors that rely on one basic underlying principle called
collision theory. In order for a reaction to occur, the reactant molecules must collide
with each other with a certain minimum energy called the activation energy to break
and form the appropriate bonds as well as have the correct orientation when
colliding. If the favourable amount of collisions increase, then the rate of the reaction
would increase. However, if the reactant particles do not collide frequently or collide
with less energy than the activation energy, they bounce apart and the reaction would
then proceed slowly or not at all. Concentration is one of the factors that affects
reaction rate. Raising the concentration of the reactants, alters the number of particles
per unit volume. Thus the more molecules present in a given volume, the greater the
probability of them colliding. If they have energies equal to or greater than the
activation energy, a higher concentration would therefore result in an increase in the
reaction rate. The opposite is true if there is a lower concentration of reactant
molecules.

Persuasive Essay On Vaping
I get it; vaping is fun. I personally don t vape, but I get the appeal. It is a cleaner,
better smelling replacement for standard cigarettes, but sometimes they still make
smoke detectors go off. If you are in your own house, that is fine, but it gets to be a
problem when everyone in the entire dorm has to evacuate because your vapor set
off a fire alarm. You will have a long, stressful talk with the people that run
Langdale and maybe a cop or two. The worst case scenario is that you get kicked
out of your room and have to find another place to live, and if you can not find a
place, maybe your mom and dad will take you back. If you get lucky, they might let
you off with just a massive fine, but it is gonna be money out of your pocket either
way. Plus, you still did not get to vape. No matter what, you lose money, and
everyone is ticked off. I think everyone relates to being constricted by too many
rules. Some people would not mind that they can not vape whenever they want, but
if you refuse to follow all of their rules, you can still vape. There are many ways to
be smart about this.
It seems to me that the easiest solution would be to just go off campus or even just
outside if you just really need to vape. It sounds like it wouldn t be worth it but,
you honestly would not have to go far. There are two parking lots just across the
street, and nobody who cares even looks at them for most of the day. Just take a few
seconds to go down the elevator and a then it is a short walk

The world was definitely looking better for Galileo at this time. On July 10, 1610
Galileo was appointed Chief mathematician and philosopher of the Grand Duke of
Tuscany. Reassuring to the doubt of Galileo s finding s as being anti religious, Pope
Paul V promised support. However, this did little to prevent the onslaught of
attacks starting in 1614 by Friar Coccini. In December of 1615 Galileo set out to
Rome to put a stop to the accusations of him being anti religious. By 1616 Galileo

Las Vegas Gambling History
Las Vegas or the meadows as its Spanish name translates is the largest city in the
state of Nevada. Las Vegas was born in 1905, when William Andrews Clark sold
110 acres of land adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks for $265,000.
Officially incorporated in 1911, over the course of just 100 years, the small railroad
town grew to become the most populous American city that was founded in the 20th
century. Today, Las Vegas has a population of 603,488 and a wider metropolitan
area of above 2 million, which makes it the 29th largest city in the USA. With 4,000
to 8,000 people moving here each month, it s also one of the fastest growing cities in
the country.
Mostly famous for its mega hotels and casinos, Las Vegas is considered to be the
gambling and entertainment capital of the world. The major events that shaped Las
Vegas as a gambling center occurred in 1931, when the construction of the Hoover
Damn began, bringing thousands of workers into the city. At the same time, the state
of Nevada decided to legalize gambling. Consisted solely of males from across the
country, the work force created a market for large scale entertainment.... Show more

In addition to its glamour, the desert metropolis is also home to many museums,
such as the Mob Museum, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, the
DISCOVERY Children s Museum, as well as the Neon Museum, which displays
many of the historical signs from Las Vegas old businesses and casinos. There are
over sixty parks in Las Vegas, with plenty of golf courses. Other outdoors attractions
include the Death Valley National Monument, Red Rock Canyon, the Hoover Dam
and Lake Mead, which is one of the largest man made lakes in America. With over
300,000 students enrolled in the school system, Las Vegas is also an important
education center, home to top rate universities such as the University of Nevada, the
Nevada State College, and the College of Southern
Scope of Managerial Economics
Q1. Yes. Firms represent a combination of people, physical assets, and information
(financial, technical, marketing, and so on). People directly involved include
stockholders, managers, workers, suppliers, and customers. Businesses use scarce
resources that would otherwise be available for other purposes, pay income and
other taxes, provide employment opportunities, and are responsible for much of the
material well being of our society. Thus, all of society is indirectly involved in the
firm s operation. Firms exist because they are useful in the process of allocating
resources producing and distributing goods and services. As such, they are basically

Omaha s Warren E. Buffett, the billionaire head of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., also
looks for companies that have strong franchises and enjoy pricing flexibility, high
ROE, high cash flow, owner oriented management, and predictable earnings that are
not natural targets of regulation. Like Price, Buffett has profited enormously through
his investments. To apply Price s and Buffett s investment criteria successfully,
business managers and investors must be sensitive to fundamental economic and
demographic trends. Perhaps the most obvious of these is the aging of the
population. Health care demands will continue to soar. In recognition of this fact,
investors have bid up the shares of companies offering prescription drugs, health care,
and health care cost containment (e.g., home health agencies). Perhaps less obvious
is that an aging and increasingly wealthy population will save growing amounts for
their children s education and retirement. This bodes well for mutual fund operators,
insurance companies, and other firms that offer distinctive financial services. As the
overall population continues to enjoy growing income, spending on leisure activities
is apt to grow; companies that offer distinctive goods and services in this area will
do well. Helping well heeled customers have fun has always been a good business.

Free Cash Flow, Issuance Costs, and Macroeconomics Risk
Abstract
This research proposal develops a dynamic framework analyzing the impact of
macroeconomic conditions on dividend policy, equity issuance policy, stockprices
and agency costs of free cash ow. I begin by observing that both equity issuance
and agency costs both depend on the aggregate state of economy. However, the
existing literature is silent on the stock price dynamics and agency costs of free
cash ow in the presence of macroeconomics risk, issuance and agency costs. I then
describe the expected results: (1) Characterizing the rm s optimal equity issuance
and dividend pay out policies in dierent regimes; (2) Study on the stock price and
asymmetric volatility under the optimal cash management policies in the presence
of macroeconomic risk; (3) The model would probably predict free cash ow
problem is more severe in expansion regime than that in contraction regime. A
literature review is added to talk about the prior research in the related areas. I also
analyze the rst best benchmark case where
Motivations Of Persuading The Listeners In Animal Farm
By...
Everyone has different opinions. That s because we re all different individuals. In
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, There are these two pigs that both have the same
intention of persuading their listeners through their speech to achieve their goals. But
for what reasons?
The pigs motivations of persuading the other animals is completely different from
each others. Like I said, this is because they are two different individuals.Their
delivery, their way of persuading the listeners, their impact on their audience is
similar, but also hugely diverse at the same time.
In any speeches, motivations do a big role, especially when the intention is to
persuade the listeners. In this case, Old major and Squealer were thinking something
completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s extremely important, because if you don t use the right way or words to give
the message, some people might not know what you re actually trying to say. Old
Major s delivery was more than expected. Unfortunately, Squealer also did a good
job delivering his message to his listeners. Old Major, uses logos and pathos to
persuade his listeners. He uses logos, to state the facts that needs to be stated in
order to continue his dream. Every animal in the farm knows that their lives are
miserable. They just don t talk about it because they don t actually know what real
happiness is. Old Major did a very good job of explaining what their lives should be
like using Pathos. Pathos is a quality that evokes pity or sadness, according to the
dictionary. He keeps coming to the point about how miserable their lives are, and
how he truly believes that they could be better. Again, Old Major just wants the
equality of all animals. Nothing bigger. Then again, there is Squealer, who
surprisingly uses ethos to describe his opinionated facts to persuade the animals. He
even uses lies and exaggerated facts to reach his goal. Literally, his job is to lie and
hide the fact that Mr.Jones hasn t given up yet. Also, When the animals asked why
the pigs had to take the milk and the apples, Squealer says that they must take them
because they contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig.
Seems like Squealer can
Interview On The Killing Of Jeremy Mardis
CNN reporter Nick Valencia was the interviewee for my topic of the killing of
Jeremy Mardis. This interview was information gathering because Nick had
reported on the story of Jeremy. Both Nick and I had established a rapport because
I was scheduled to meet with him to ask him about his career and professional
advice. Nick was called in for a story which led to us doing a thirty minute telephone
interviewthat was moderately scheduled for a Saturday afternoon in which I asked
Nick various questionsabout the story and why/who he interviewed. The way I set up
the questions for the interview was using the hourglass sequence in which I would
ask a open question, then go to a closed question and so on. It all started with my
opening.
In starting the interview I used a verbal opening technique in which I stated the
purpose of why I was conducting the interview. The way I tried to conduct the
interview was by using the nondirective approach. I had a list of questions prepared
to ask, but I wanted and needed to listen to see where Nick s responses would lead
me. Even though I took the nondirective approach one of the main focus for myself
that I tried to do was just have a conversation with Nick and not make it feel like an
interview. The first question I asked was open ended about how does he mentally
prepares himself to interview someone about a tragic event. Nick said, I know the
situation the best I can before I go into it and know that it is going to be a sensitive

Why Did A Golf Ball Grow So High Essay
Discussion:
From the information gathered from graph 1, we can see that each of the ball s
bounce heights did not vary significantly. Unexpectedly, the golf ball bounced the
highest, smashing the tennis ball s results. While each of the balls shared similarity
in terms of their bounce height, the golf ball was the only ball which bounced
considerably higher than the others. The table tennis ball followed the tennis ball, but
the ball which achieved the least height was the baseball. There was a significant
difference between the bounce heights of the baseball and the golf ball
I believe that the reason of why the golf ball bounced so high was because of the
material from which it is made out of. As the golf ball hit the ground, its molecules ...

This could have been improved if a clamp was used to hold the ball on the 1 meter
mark, and if the clamp was slightly lower or higher, at least all the balls would be
dropped at the same height.
To ensure that the ruler is level to achieve an accurate result, a spirit level could be
used. Even though it may not make a difference when on a flat surface, it is always
worth checking if you would like your results to be as accurate as possible.
Conclusion:
The results from this experiment show that the elasticity of a ball does not affect its
bounce height. The golf ball was not as elastic as the tennis ball, but its results were
much higher than that of the tennis ball. The results in this experiment tell us that
while elasticity does have some affect on the bounce height of the ball, another
variable is altering their bounce height. The information gathered from the table and
the graph did not support the
Alcohol Problems among Young People in Britain
This essay has been developed to discuss the increasing alcohol problem in young
people in Britain, also to raise the reasons behind why young people drink and
suggest possible solutions for the young people of today and to also carry on to the
next generation.
One of the main reasons for young people to use alcohol is peer pressure, this is
when young people socialise with their friends and feels they cannot say no in fear of
being left out.
Other reasons could be what goes on in their home environment, it is estimated that
1.3 million children are affected by their parents alcohol problems, Also boredom,
many young people feel they have to drink for something to do or to even block out
problems they are having i.e. bullying or some ... Show more content on

If there was more for young people to do like youth clubs, drop in centres or
attractive venues at low cost this could help young people keep off the streets and
perhaps help the situation with boredom.
Schools could also be helping with more education on the effects in alcohol
especially for when they get older and try to get a job, there could be an alcoholics
anonymous councillor at the school perhaps monthly or even weekly to talk with
classes and individuals, regular talks with police/nurse to explain the dangers of
alcohol abuse from pregnancies, STI and other diseases, liver failure to violence, a
nurse could also talk about contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies or STI s.
Perhaps recovering alcoholics could talk with teenagers and give advice on how their
lives have changed from starting drinking to giving up.
Advertisement to be kept at a minimum and only show alcohol adverts on television
late at night and show more adverts on binge drinking and the devastating effects it
may have, also shops to keep posters and bright coloured notices of special offers at
a minimum as these special offers attract young people. Perhaps security cameras
outside shops and in streets to help stop young people from standing outside these
places and being a nuisance to nearby residences.
The age to buy alcohol is 18yrs and the 21yrs policy applies, perhaps if the UK was

me a bunch of questions about the band. You really are a big fan. How old are you?

Rhetorical Situations In Broadcasting
Inside the discourse community of broadcasting there are a variety of genres that are
used. These genres or forms of writing are all shaped by different situations and
factors that the author experiences as a whole. Which can change how to the writing
is produced. Utah State professor Keith Grant Davie explains ...examin[ing] rhetorical
situations as sets of interacting influences from which rhetoricarises, and which
rhetoric in turn influences is...one of the most important things we can do (Grant
Davie 264). Grant Davie goes on to add that certain aspects regarding rhetorical
situations. The ones that he lists are the purpose of it being produced, the contributors
to the product, those who will be absorbing the information, and the context... Show

These are only used by sport broadcasters therefore someone who would is
videographer might not be able to understand it, someone who is already member of
the broadcasting discourse community. Also if they audience is unfamiliar with
stats in certain sports when the broadcaster might read off one they will be lost
and confused. For example, if an announcer who was calling play by paly for
football said that the quarterback has a completion percentage of fifty, someone who
doesn t understand football fully will not understand. In some sports like baseball
that are being introduced with new stats everyday like holds, war, effectively, etc.
Might even confuse the audience who might be knowledge about that sport. That s
why sometimes when they might mention an unfamiliar statistic; they ll explain how
it s measured. Finally since each spotting board is different depending on the rhetor
there can also be constraints between those who also use spotting boards too. The
spotting board genre is quite fascinating. Ted Husing was a broadcaster in the 1920 s
and he even used spotting boards, but he admits that the broadcasters before him used
them too (Lewis 3). Therefore the origin of this genre remains a mystery inside the
broadcasting discourse community. This causes many factors that all play a part in
affecting its rhetorical
Is the Prolonged Span of Life by Medic Care Technology a...
It has long been debated whether the longer life span granted by the advanced
technology and medic care system that came with the industry revolution is a
triumph of humanity or instead, a tragedy. A number of people suggested that a
longer life span has always been the wildest dream of mankind and now it s being
achieved to some extent by our advanced science and technology. Others argued that,
an increasing amount of older population due to a longer life span proved to be a
huge burden of the society as well as themselves.
However, as far as I m concerned, the key to the debate whether this prolonged life
span should be considered a triumph or a tragedy does not lie in the life span itself,
but rather, its quality.

To begin with, there are health issues eating up the life quality of elder people.
Nowadays, the health system is still exerting more efforts on quantity instead of
quality of life for elder people. Life quality could always be sacrificed for the sake of
longevity. Such an idea has put millions of elder people living long lives living in
long term pain and suffering. Firstly, our health care professionals haven t become
aging ready. Little resources are invested into the study of Geriatrics: Less than 20%
of the medical schools in the United States have full departments of Geriatrics. Dr.
Ken Dychtwald once said: Our 21st century health breakthroughs have given us old
people, and now we can t figure out how to keep them healthy. Secondly, too little
freedom is placed in the hands of elder people in deciding their own lives. They ought
to be granted full authority in things such as whether to accept aggressive medical
treatments conditioning on their consciousness.
In addition, as the population is aging, there exists an increasing financial burden on
the elder people as well as their families and the entire society. Advanced technology
and health care have already brought us into the age of longevity, but the financial
intelligence in the meantime hasn t figured out a proper method to pay for it. In
China, more than half of elder people are living in poverty, struggling under the shade
of an immature social security system

Nick Carraway as Honest Liar in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
Everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I
am one of the few honest people that I have ever known (Fitzgerald Gatsby 64). So
writes Nick Carraway in F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, characterizing
himself in opposition to the great masses of humanity as a perfectly honest man. The
honesty that Nick attributes to himself must be a nearly perfect one, by dint of both
its rarity and its cardinal nature; Nick asserts for himself that he is among the most
honest people he has ever encountered. Events in the book, however, do not bear this
self characterization out; far from being among the most honest people in ... Show

The discussion immediately preceding the characterization is most pressing on an
interpretation of this self characterization, as it provides a clear example of Nick s
dishonesty just moments before he claims to be perfectly honest. Nick says of
Jordan Baker, Her grey sun strained eyes stared straight ahead, but she had
deliberately shifted our relations, and for a moment I thought I loved her (63). But,
however, before he could actively pursue Miss Baker, he acknowledges, there was
one little matter he had to deal with:
But I am slow thinking and full of interior rules that act as brakes on my desires,
and I knew that first I had to get myself out of that tangle back home. I d been
writing letters once a week and signing them Love, Nick ...Nevertheless there was a
vague understanding that had to be tactfully broken off before I was free. (64)
Immediately preceding his statement about being one of the few honest people he has
ever known, he admits to both falsely proclaiming his love and perpetuating a vague
understanding he had no intention of fulfilling. What s more, Nick takes his long
belated decision to now, finally, deal with the situation as evidence of his perfect
honesty ignoring entirely the preceding weeks and months of deception!
This matter of the girl back home warrants further study. This is the girl whom Daisy
and Tom ask about, and the subject of whom Nick clearly (and
Internet Law And The Economy Essay
Internet Law and the Economy Introduction
This week s article review is taken from Ubiquity, an ACM IT Magazine and forum.
The article is The New Economy: Are Rules Irrelevant? by Daniel W. Uhlfelder,
Esq. In this article it is discussed how the new economy of the Internet move
forward and enact laws that would be beneficial to all parties involved. This will be
hard if not impossible because the Internet can cross boundaries where laws could
not cross. The each country and each region uphold and maintain laws and
regulations specific for their purposes. Therefore, jurisdiction is a key issue in order
to determine what laws, regulations, taxation or other concerns apply. As crimes are

It is now important to know the different laws and develop new laws by which
these new relationships interact. The key is to understand the different laws and
how they are used, where and how should they be enforced and how to protect our
interests and the interest of others and how we can use and develop laws to the best
advantage of society. According to Daniel W. Uhlefelder
Security, Internet taxation, electronic signatures, privacy, copyright, minority, small
business development, and contract formation in cyberspace: These are just a few of
the important legal issues members of the new economy are going to face.
(Uhlfelder, 2000)
Laws relating to our worldwide commerce are going to be needed to avoid ciaos in
our economic society. If we cannot keep up with these changes, then there may be ill
effects to our society and economy. Federal Trade Commission Chairman Robert
Pitofsky reminds us that when enacting laws we must remember:
Protect the marketplace, and don t undermine the incentives for innovation. And that
is what this is about. The incentives for innovation seem to be very important in this
area. On the other hand, you don t want people taking advantage of the fact that
claming that В‘Well, We re high tech. The antitrust laws don t apply to us. That is
not an acceptable defense. (Uhlfelder, 2000)
Predators exist everywhere and the internet is no exception. There are always people

Most are found incidentally during upper gastrointestinal series or esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Symptoms are often hemorrhage or duodenal obstructive symptoms which are mainly due to ulceration of the lesions. Histologically, Brunner s gland hamartoma consists of components of Brunner s gland cells, containing glandular, adipose and muscle cells. In this study we report a case of a 30 year old man presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and obstructive symptoms due to a giant Brunner s gland hamartoma in the duodenal bulb. The hamartoma was removed successfully by endoscopic resection without significant complications. Microscopically, the lesion was found to be entirely composed of variable Brunner s glands and adipocytes. Key Words: Brunner s gland, Hamartoma, Gastrointestinal Bleeding Case report... He was treated conservatively and subsequent abdominal ultrasound and colonoscopy findings were normal. The patient received 8 units of blood transfusion twice for iron deficiency anemia. However, the patient did not improve over three months, and had ongoing dizziness and nausea. He was then referred to this hospital for further investigation of gastrointestinal bleeding and known duodenal lesion. The patient denied weight loss or use of non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). His height and weight were 180.9 cm and 145.8 kg, with a body mass index (BMI) of 44.5
  • 3. The Effect Of Peer Pressure On Children Just take one sip, your half drunk best friend says. You know you do not want to, but you are hesitant to say no, why? Children and teenagers everywhere are being constantly pestered by their peers to do what is cool in order to fit in. Unfortunately, some people will cave in to the enticing offer in order to keep their friends and a popular reputation. This is known as peer pressure. Peer pressure is the influence an individual feels from a personor group of people around his/her age to do something he/she would not consider trying. In addition, peer pressure provides a number of negative effects such as, tempting an individual to try bad activities, causing him/her to rely too much on the group of people, and leading a person poor choices. There are a surplus amount of negative effects peer pressure can provide for adolescents around the world. One negative effectof peer pressure is it will tempt an individual to try bad activities. To begin, by being with immature friends that encourage wrong activities, they can influence he/she to make those bad decisions. Most teenagers what to be popular or fit in, so they feel obligated to do what is favored amongst their peers. Even though teenagers know it is the wrong decision, they are still hesitant to say no. In addition, once an individual tried a bad activity, it starts to become a habit. According to the Underage Research Drinking Initiative, в…” of tenth graders and в…– of eighth graders tried alcohol. As a result,
  • 4. The Battle Against Grendel s Mother Beowulf sets his sights towards Grendel s mother shortly after the second attack on Heorot. Grendel s mother is similarly linked to Cain just as her son was. According to the selection, it is said that after Cain was cast away by God, his mark of murder followed him. Everywhere Cain walked, monsters and shadows arose from the ground in which Grendel s mother is a result of. It is interesting to note that the story of Beowulfeffortlessly contorted the Christian story of Cain by adding Pagan influences such as monsters. Nonetheless, like previous battles, the fight against Grendel s mother was a result of vengeance. Grendel s mother lived miserably in dark, monster infested waters, but caused no harm until the death of her son whom she was obligated to avenge. Soon after her introduction into the story, the reader is informed that she injured many, but it was the murder of the king s closest advisor that was most troubling . As one can imagine vengeance is necessary to bring justice to the situation even though the Pagan principle of vengeance defies Christian ideals. The characters in the story understand that this fiend is no weak one, and they offer Beowulf gear in preparation for the battle. As Beowulf prepares to avenge the death of the king s advisor, he is given Hrunting, a special sword. This once again introduces another Pagan element. As the aforementioned, Paganism strongly believed in magical entities; special swords are no exception. Hrunting was
  • 5. Anne Bradstreet s Upon The Burning Of Our House William Bradford was one of the main reasons that the Puritan movement got rolling. He led puritans to the New World. When people wanted to give up he pushed them to keep moving. Bradford believed in something, stood for it, and did something about it. It was because of him that the Puritans could live and have freedom of beliefs. His writings were historical narratives. He talked about the lifestyle of Puritans. He wrote Of Plymouth Plantation, which was about the colony s first years in America. Bradford gives a telling account of how the Pilgrims were forced to flee to Holland in 1608, the immense suffering they underwent while there, their manner of living in that alien land, and their eventual determination to sail to the New World. Bradford... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was serious, plain, and to the point. They felt it needed to be practical. Religion played a huge role in the lives of Puritans. They ate, slept, and breathed this. Through each of the writings of William Bradford, Anne Bradstreet, and Jonathan Edwards readers can see the essence of Puritanism. The three principles of Puritans (God s grace, simplicity, and divine mission) can be mirrored through each author s works. My personal favorite author of the three is Anne Bradstreet. I am an emotional person and I admire that all of her writings are from the heart and completely relatable on every level. There is something about the way that she writes that makes you feel what she is feeling, because in some way in your own personal life there is a similar situation. In her poem Upon the Burning of Our House she talks about watching her house burn. Although I have not watched my house burn, I have seen things so dear to me get caught in flames so to speak. God has more than once tried to put things in perspective for me and remind me that this world is temporal and not eternal, that my focus should be on Him. I can relate with Bradstreet on the value of earthly and eternal treasures. Anne Bradstreet s poetry spoke more than just in the colonial times. It is ever more present in today s time and just as
  • 6. Christian Meta-Narrative In The Book Of Revelation It is said that the basic Christian meta narrative of history is present throughout the Book of Revelation. But, what does this mean? First one must understand simply what a meta narrative is. A meta narrative is a narrative or story which claims to explain something totally. The Christian meta narrative provides a theological worldview centered on Jesusvictory at the cross and derives its understanding of the world through the teachings of the Bible. The Book of Revelationprovides for its readers images to coincide with the Christian meta narrative. These images can later be used to relate the themes of Revelation to how they are held true in the past, present, and future of the world. War is waged against an already victorious lamb. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Revelation 20:1 15 tells how the angel of God came down and chained up the Dragon (Satan), and then all of the souls who had died for Jesus and the word of God came to life and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The thousand years referenced in this bible verse was symbolic of Christ s resurrection victory over death and how the people of God were going to share in His glorious reign. Examples of these events can be pulled from the world, Church, and even events of history and the Bible. This image is a particularly true representation of a time of unrest in a country. Many wars are started and fought long and hard, but long before the wars officially ends there can be seen an evident and certain victor. This is especially evident when looking back upon wars fought in history. Though it did not seem so at the time, the victor was clearly when looking back upon them from the future. The theme of the image is interpreted to mean that Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, has already died and saved us from our sins; however, Satan is still present in the world seeking the ruins of souls. The work of Satan can easily be contradicted thanks to the victory of Jesus Christ, opening up the gates of heaven for us and offering us redemption from our
  • 7. Battle Of Hastings Dbq The Battle of Hastings happened on the 14th of October 1066 in East Sussex which is outside of Hastings. The battle was between Harold Godwinson and William, duke of Normandy. There are three main reasons why William won the Battle of Hastings; this is because William had a head start and he also has cavalry. The main reason he won was because during the battle William ordered his foot soldiers to run away so that the English would go downhill after them. One reason why William won the Battle of Hastings was because of his preparation and readiness for the battle. His army were provided with cavalry that were trained to kick, bite and head butt. This is shown in the Bayeux Tapestry and source 3 where there are soldiers seen fighting on horses. I know that William s half brother organised the creation of the tapestry so the information on it is likely to be accurate. This meant William won the Battle of Hastings because he had an extra weapon that the English didn t have therefore could surprise them, attack and leave more damage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... William ordered his foot soldiers to fake retreat. This is found in Source 5 because it shows William and Harold s movements. My opinion is that doing this is very intelligent because doing this tricks the opposing team. This meant that William won the Battle of Hastings because it this meant that the English got confused so they followed the Normans down the hill, therefore breaking the shield wall. When they were at the bottom of the hill, the Normans killed the Bretons quickly so without William making this decision, it would ve been less likely that the Saxons would ve won the Battle of

In addition, it has been designed that the JLTV would support C3 in both immobile and mobile modes, various wider ranges in complex and dynamic operational environments. Nevertheless, initial concept composed of three variants based on different payload capabilities, four passenger Combat Tactical Vehicle (CTV) and a two passenger Combat Support Vehicle (CSV) variants were survived as a final choice. The Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) of the DoD that provides a close oversight to joint acquisition programs and makes recommendations to the Defense Acquisition Board has approved the JLTV program which would be led by the Army in November 2006. It was notable that, even though, joint Army/Marine Corps had intended to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Technology Development Phase by October 2007, the Pentagon s acquisition executive, John Young disapproved the issuance of the RFP due to deep concern on funding adequacy, technical maturity, and shifting requirements.

  • 10. Descriptive Essay On The Park I was walking towards the park my father always took me to do my project when I was little, Let me go! I heard a girl scream. I tried to see where it was coming from, as I looked across the green grass wondering if it was my imagination or not. The grass had been recently mowed and the trees had animals on them as if the whole city was perfect. I heard it again, Please let me go! I decided to put my textbooks and the designing journal down on the bench. In the city we live in, there is no crime so nobody would steal my stuff. I tried to hear where the scream came from. As I walked around the whole park, the sound grew fainter. I found where the sound was coming from. I hid behind a big, green, and growing tree. She looked tired but strong. The guards didn t look happy. It was rare seeing them since there is no crime in Yasashi. They had her in handcuffs. She scanned the park. We locked eyes. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of purple. A growth stock is a stock of a company that produces tolerable and considerable positive cash flow. A secondary issue is also known as a secondary market offering, which is a registered offering of a huge block of security that has been issued to the public beforehand. There are two basic types of stock, including common stock and preferred stock. Both types have pros and cons, so before buying a corporations stock, it is better to choose which one is most pleases. In addition, a common stock is the basic stock that a corporation issues. For example, it shows that people own a part or fraction of the company. Failures and successes of the company are directly influenced by the common stocks. Common stocks are more of a gamble. Since there is a greater chance of making profit, their dividends or profits issue the common stock, after the preferred stock, (Whang Seunjgjin, 720). After all of the common stock has been issued, companies start to deal out preferred stock. A preferred stock is an important equity security that has properties as both equity and a debt instrument and is basically considered a hybrid instrument. Before the common stock owners, the preferred stock owners supplied their dividends. If the company ceases to do business, and liquidates, the preferred stock owners are repaid the money, in which they invested before the stockholders are balanced. The main disadvantages of preferred
  • 12. Fate In Plutarch s Works Parallel to objects that gleam brilliantly, stars are nothing more than a beacon; for man has the power to illuminate the road towards his own destiny. Fate does not shape one s destiny, but rather one should strive to define their own fate. Plutarch, a Greek philosopher in Rome during the 2nd century A.D personifies the notion of fate and destinywith his tales about Julius Caesar in a historical document titled Lives of the Nobles:Julius Caesar. Likewise, William Shakespeare, an English poet, embodies the same overall ideal of fate and destiny, but with some minor alterations in his play, The Tragedy of Julius as it s based upon Plutarch s work. In both pieces of literature, though, the account of Caesar s rise to power is illustrated. Shakespeare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare made this change most likely to highlight Caesar s thirst for power to the point where he would view himself as a God. Similarly, Shakespeare also illustrates that Caesar is a sufferer of seizures and that the pressure from having to reject the crown was too much for him, resulting in a seizure which also further uncovers his lust for power. This arrogance is also illustrated by Caesar disregarding the premonition from the Soothsayer. Further, other characters that are transformed by Shakespeare include Brutus, who is actually the true main character in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. I do fear for the people. Choose Caesar for their king. Yet I love him as well (Shakespeare scene 2, line 78 82). The Tragedy of Julius Caesar depicts mostly his inner conflict of choosing between his loyalty to Caesar or his own endearment towards the citizens and country of Rome. Based on Brutus s love for the people and the troubles he is willing to endure for them reveals that he is a noble, yet easily manipulated character. Cassius, a character also introduced in Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, attempts to manipulate Brutus, who is lost and muddled in his inner conflict to murder Caesar. • 14. Alcohol Consumption Among College Students Abstract Alcohol consumption is an important social concern for many people. This study opted to analyze how gender affects the level of alcohol consumption among college students. After conducting a survey with 30 participants, the results proved that H1 hypothesis Gender significantly affects the level of alcohol consumption was validated with a p value of 0.026. Additionally, H2 hypothesis Men significantly consume more alcohol than women do was also validated with a mean of 2.4 in terms of consumption. H3 hypothesis Women significantly consume more alcohol than men do was nullified because of the average mean being only 1.27. The p value of significance provided insight on the level of alcohol consumption, further solidifying the claim. It can be therefore concluded that gender played an important role as a determiner of the impact on level of alcohol consumption and men tend to consume more alcohol. The data are backed up by recent studies and similar assumptions and conclusions. Introduction Alcohol consumption among college students is steadily increasing due to the nature of the environment inducing such behavior to alleviate stress, as a form of recreation, or a means of establishing a lifestyle. According to Randolph et al. (2009), the frequency of alcohol consumption is bound to increase in the decade because of observed behavior and peer pressure. Additionally, according to Ceylan Isik, McBride, and Ren (2010), alcohol consumption resulting in

Of all the things that we are surrounded by every day, what has not been placed through the design process? Extend Your Understanding (Optional) Engineers need to know what problems they are addressing. They must have an idea about the degree to which the solution should be carried out, along with what the solution should do to solve the problem. The engineer must also work within constraints, such as time and budget. A design brief is a tool that is used to concisely identify the problem, solution expectations, and project constraints. The engineer will often return to the design brief throughout a design process to assess the progress and validity of his or her creative work. Imagine that you are part of that design team. The project leader has given you the responsibility of creating a design brief that defines the problem, states the expectations that the solution must meet, and identifies the project criteria and constraints. This theme is one of the major themes in the novel and it has been developed in two different ways using the three main characters, Hester, Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth. Take Chillingworth as an example, he made the very principle of his life to consist in the pursuit and systematic exercise of revenge (Chapter 24, pg. 257) due to his inability to forgive Dimmesdale. A perfect instance that supports Hawthorn s perspective would be murder. Even though there are some cases that people would kill without a motive, for money, for fun, etc... A majority of the cases have reasons behind it and they are commonly associated with vengeance. People would commit murder as a form of punishment, but none of this punishment would have been required if they are willing to forgive. Hawthorn s perspective on the theme vengeance and forgiveness still applies to our modern society because some people are still not willing to forgive, just like

They used irony, derision, and wit to attack human vice or folly. One method the satirist utilized to catch their readers attention, while also making them feel uncomfortable, was to describe those things that were deemed inappropriate to discuss openly in society. The classical example of a topic that was discussed behind closed doors, yet the satirist used freely, was sex. In Rochester s Upon His Drinking a Bowl, Rochester joins the aspect of alcohol with that of sex: Cupid, and Bacchus, my Saints are, May drink, and Love, still reign, With Wine, I wash away my cares, And then to Cunt again. This attitude of sex and drunkenness is often associated with the ancient Greeks and Romans, who Rochester makes reference to through Cupid and Bacchus. The wine serves as a tool to rid oneself of their grasp on reason. It often drives away the feeling of anxiety that often exist between a man and women during times of intimacy. It allows one to satisfy their bodily pleasure. The graphic word quot;Cunt quot; not only serves as a symbol of sex and the female genitalia but is also used to bring about the disgust of any moralist or any rational individual. In this poem, the author deliberately chooses a mother to serve as the primary speaker to create a dramatic scene as she powerfully expounds her approach on life to her son, who also serves as the audience. She makes it her responsibility to pass on wisdom to her son by alluding to the accomplishments and failures she has experienced through the duration of her life.

  • 24. Judicial Restraint Essay Judicial restraint and judicial activism are two opposite approaches to the checks and balances system found within the legal system of the United States. Although both approaches are used to prevent the use of any fraudulent power within the government, judicial activism is the interpretation of the Constitutionvia contemporary traditions and values. Judicial restraint, on the other hand, limits the power to strike down a law by faithfully applying precedent. This polarity may be difficult to distinguish between, however three methods have been developed to easier analyze which approach has been used. Based on the actions of the Supreme Court, if the outcome of a case upholds laws and statues, upholds stare decisis, and strictly adheres to the Constitution, the judge used judicial restraint. Moreover, judicial activism would not necessarily uphold the laws and statues, stare decisis, or adhere to the Constitution. Therefore, the most distinguishing factor that sets these two apart is their ability to influence a change to public policy; judicial activism is a direct form of public policy change. The distinction between judicial activism and judicial restraint may seem very prominent and clear cut now, yet the 2010 McDonald v. the city of Chicago case arguably uses both approaches. On June 28th, 2010, the Supreme Court ruled (5 4), that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, applies to state and local government as well as to the federal government (BRITTANICA). The suit was filed to challenge the provisions of a 1982 Chicago law that generally banned the new registration of handguns and made registration a prerequisite to owning a firearm. This case is the perfect example to showcase how judicial restraint and activism both act on the outcome of a case. The 2010 McDonald v. the city of Chicago case upheld precedents established on the Duncan standard a more inclusive test based on the Duncan v Louisiana case compelled the court to reject, on stare decisis, the main defendant s argument. The Supreme Court adhered strictly to the Constitution, however, and based their outcome on the fourteenth amendment. This amendment, focused on

  • 28. Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective. Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research is, emotional intelligence. The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background is very dark but three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the ground plane of the painting, an orange carpet can be seen covering the entire floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens and blues. The cool toned colours are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears to be a cabinet or a desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with detailed designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red rose can be seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no signs of withering in its petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to stand out on

The author advises that people should focus more on the possibilities in every situation and not on the obstacles. Obstacles will always be there, but when we choose to ignore it and focus only on things to get us around it, then that is a winning attitude. Chapter 9 describes the effects of worry and fear on our physical body. In fact, the author pointed out that worry is the source of many diseases like Hypertension, arthritis. Robert Neale pointed out how we can expunge worry and fear from our mind and fill it with thoughts of faith, victory, positive expectations. Chapter 10 deals with finding the right solutions to problems. In the journey of life, it is inevitable that we will encounter problems. Planning and effectively mapping out a strategy to deal with problems have proven very successful. The strategy the author was referring to is partnering with God. The author outlined

Middlesex By Jeffrey Eugenides Essay Questions Middlesex Final Test Prompt 2: In the event of Cal working for the Sixty Niners in the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, he learns to come to terms with both himself and his gender identity. An example would be how when Cal joined the Sixty Niners, he met other hermaphrodites like Zora who taught him how to come to terms with himself and supported him throughout the process. This is shown in the quote Look at you. No one would ever know. I want people to know, Cal. How come? Zora folded her long legs under herself. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prompt 3: The central conflict of the book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides is gender identity which is shown through Calliope s struggle with determining and accepting her true gender as a hermaphrodite. The conflict also affects other characters as it causes grief, confusion, and leads to. Calliope s first encounter with her gender identity crisis was when she develops feelings and sexual attraction to the Object which is stated in Jerome knew what I was, as suddenly I did, too, for the first time clearly understood that I wasn t a girl but something in between. I knew this from how natural it had felt to enter Rex Reese s body, how right it felt, and I knew this from the shocked expression on Jerome s face (375). The experience of having intercourse with Jerome and fantasizing being in Rex s position shows that Calliope isn t just a female but something in between and that adds more to her suspicion and confusion of her actual gender. This also affects other characters as it leads up to Calliope having a sexual relationship with the Object which reveals the Object s true feelings towards Calliope and her actual sexuality. She also has another encounter with her gender identity when she discovers that she s biologically a boy who had been raised as a girl. In the file by Dr. Luce, it describes Calliope s condition with the description As the girl s gender identity was firmly established as female at that time
  • 37. Reaction Rate Of Reaction Background: A clock reaction generally involves a mixture of solutions that, after a certain amount of time, displays a sudden colour change. This process demonstrates chemical kinetics in action, which is the study of chemical processes and rates of reaction where the reaction rate is the speed at which the chemical reactionproceeds. It is dependent on several factors that rely on one basic underlying principle called collision theory. In order for a reaction to occur, the reactant molecules must collide with each other with a certain minimum energy called the activation energy to break and form the appropriate bonds as well as have the correct orientation when colliding. If the favourable amount of collisions increase, then the rate of the reaction would increase. However, if the reactant particles do not collide frequently or collide with less energy than the activation energy, they bounce apart and the reaction would then proceed slowly or not at all. Concentration is one of the factors that affects reaction rate. Raising the concentration of the reactants, alters the number of particles per unit volume. Thus the more molecules present in a given volume, the greater the probability of them colliding. If they have energies equal to or greater than the activation energy, a higher concentration would therefore result in an increase in the reaction rate. The opposite is true if there is a lower concentration of reactant molecules. The relationship between rate and

It is a cleaner, better smelling replacement for standard cigarettes, but sometimes they still make smoke detectors go off. If you are in your own house, that is fine, but it gets to be a problem when everyone in the entire dorm has to evacuate because your vapor set off a fire alarm. You will have a long, stressful talk with the people that run Langdale and maybe a cop or two. The worst case scenario is that you get kicked out of your room and have to find another place to live, and if you can not find a place, maybe your mom and dad will take you back. If you get lucky, they might let you off with just a massive fine, but it is gonna be money out of your pocket either way. Plus, you still did not get to vape. No matter what, you lose money, and everyone is ticked off. I think everyone relates to being constricted by too many rules. Some people would not mind that they can not vape whenever they want, but if you refuse to follow all of their rules, you can still vape. There are many ways to be smart about this. It seems to me that the easiest solution would be to just go off campus or even just outside if you just really need to vape. It sounds like it wouldn t be worth it but, you honestly would not have to go far. There are two parking lots just across the street, and nobody who cares even looks at them for most of the day. Just take a few seconds to go down the elevator and a then it is a short walk

In recognition of this fact, investors have bid up the shares of companies offering prescription drugs, health care, and health care cost containment (e.g., home health agencies). However, the existing literature is silent on the stock price dynamics and agency costs of free cash ow in the presence of macroeconomics risk, issuance and agency costs. Old Major s delivery was more than expected. Unfortunately, Squealer also did a good job delivering his message to his listeners. Old Major, uses logos and pathos to persuade his listeners. He uses logos, to state the facts that needs to be stated in order to continue his dream. Every animal in the farm knows that their lives are miserable. They just don t talk about it because they don t actually know what real happiness is. Old Major did a very good job of explaining what their lives should be like using Pathos. Pathos is a quality that evokes pity or sadness, according to the dictionary. He keeps coming to the point about how miserable their lives are, and how he truly believes that they could be better. Again, Old Major just wants the equality of all animals. Nothing bigger. Then again, there is Squealer, who surprisingly uses ethos to describe his opinionated facts to persuade the animals. He even uses lies and exaggerated facts to reach his goal. Literally, his job is to lie and hide the fact that Mr.Jones hasn t given up yet. Also, When the animals asked why the pigs had to take the milk and the apples, Squealer says that they must take them because they contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig.
