Monolithic Architecture: A Closer Look at the Benefits and DrawbacksSun Technologies
A monolith architecture is a software application approach in which a single unit is constructed that is independent of other applications. The phrase "monolith" is commonly used to denote anything large and sluggish, which is similar to a monolith architecture in software design. A monolith is a huge computer network with a single code base that contains all business needs. To make a change in this sort of application, you must update the entire stack by accessing the code base and building and deploying an updated version of your service-side interface, which is cumbersome and time-consuming. Monoliths are important in the early stages of a project because they simplify code management, reduce cognitive overhead, and allow for quick deployment. Everything in the monolith can be released at once.
Maximizing Efficiency with Contract AI and O2C AutomationSun Technologies
Contract AI refers to using machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to streamline and optimize the management of contracts throughout their lifecycle. It involves the application of AI algorithms to analyze, extract, and interpret data from contracts, automate contract-related processes, and improve contract risk management and compliance. Contract AI aims to enhance efficiency, reduce manual labor, mitigate risks, and facilitate better decision-making in managing legal agreements and contracts within organizations.
Data lakes are central repositories that store large volumes of structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. They are ideal for machine learning use cases and support SQL-based access and programmatic distributed data processing frameworks. Data lakes can store data in the same format as its source systems or transform it before storing it. They support native streaming and are best suited for storing raw data without an intended use case. Data quality and governance practices are crucial to avoid a data swamp. Data lakes enable end-users to leverage insights for improved business performance and enable advanced analytics.

Robotic Process Automation involves using software robots or "bots" to automate repetitive, rule-based tasks typically performed by humans. RPA bots interact with user interfaces, mimic human actions, and execute tasks across various applications and systems. However, RPA alone is limited to specific applications or systems, and it requires a bridge to connect with external systems and leverage data from multiple sources. This is where APIs come into play.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

LF Energy Webinar: Electrical Grid Modelling and Simulation Through PowSyBl -...DanBrown980551
Do you want to learn how to model and simulate an electrical network from scratch in under an hour?
Then welcome to this PowSyBl workshop, hosted by Rte, the French Transmission System Operator (TSO)!
During the webinar, you will discover the PowSyBl ecosystem as well as handle and study an electrical network through an interactive Python notebook.
PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.
What you will learn during the webinar:
- For beginners: discover PowSyBl's functionalities through a quick general presentation and the notebook, without needing any expert coding skills;
- For advanced developers: master the skills to efficiently apply PowSyBl functionalities to your real-world scenarios.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Knowing how AI fits into the digital transformation
AI is essential for digital transformation, as it has the power to improve processes,
increase efficiency, and enhance customer experience. As a result, companies are
eager to adopt AI to reap the benefits it offers.
AI algorithms can interpret massive volumes of data rapidly and correctly, allowing them
to make intelligent judgments based on that data. AI-powered chatbots can manage a
high volume of consumer queries, freeing up human employees to address more
complex issues. AI is being applied in various businesses to enhance processes,
increase efficiency, and promote innovation. For example, AI is being used to evaluate
medical imaging, detect and prevent fraud, personalize the shopping experience for
customers, optimize routes and minimize fuel consumption, and automate mundane
jobs, freeing up people to focus on more complicated and strategic duties.
AI technology for the digital transition
AI-powered technologies are significantly impacting digital transformation, with four of
the most prominent AI-powered technologies being highlighted.

The following are the most notable AI benefits in digital transformation:
Cost savings
AI algorithms assist businesses in saving money by lowering the number
of personnel required to accomplish activities and enhancing accuracy.
For example, AI may process invoices and monitor and analyze massive
volumes of data, relieving personnel of the need to enter data manually.
Improved decision-making
AI algorithms may give insights into client preferences and habits, market
trends, and other critical information, helping businesses to make better
decisions and boost their competitiveness.
Enhanced competition
Artificial intelligence (AI) automates regular processes, enhances
efficiency and accuracy, and makes accurate decisions. It may also
evaluate client data and create customized experiences, resulting in a
larger market share and revenues.
AI challenges for your digital transformation
While considering digital transformation, addressing AI difficulties such as data quality
and bias, a shortage of qualified labor, and ethical constraints is critical. Therefore, a
