There are 8 Directions:
• Main direction(Disha)
• East (Purva)
• West (Paschim)
• South (Dakshin)
• North (Uttar)
• Sub direction(Updisha)
• South-East (Aagnaya)
• South-West (Nairuktaya)
• North-West (Vayavaya)
• North-East (Ishan)

3.1 The North Direction (Uttar)
• The principal God of this
side is Kuber who has
incalculable stores of wealth
and prosperity.
• Northern side should be low
lying area than other sides.
• North side also called as
matrusthanm.

• The Gods on this side are 1.
Diti 2. Aditi 3. Sarpa
(Serpent) 4. Som or Chandra

(Cobra) All these are
auspicious Gods giving
happiness and prosperity.
• Guest room, Living room,
study room should be
constructed at North direction.

3.2 The North –East Direction (Ishaan)
• God himself rules this
direction.
• Therefore, there should be no
construction in this
direction, toilets, sundry
room etc. should not be built
in this direction.
• At this corner is combination
of magnetic energy of North
direction as well as Solar
energy of East.

• However, wells,
underground tanks, boring
wells etc. give auspicious
results, if built in this
direction.

• This direction should be open.
• We can provide main entrance of
the house at east direction.
• Slope towards east provides health

children.
• If borewell, well at eastern
side will provide happiness,

3.4 The South - East Direction (Agneya)
• This direction lies
between the South and
the East directions.
• Agni (fire) is the
principal God of this
direction.
• This direction is used for
Hom -Havan (oblations
by fire to a deity in a pit)
and burying Vastupurush.

3.4 The South - East Direction (Agneya)
• The kitchen should always be in
this direction.
• No storage of water at S-E
corner.
• S-E corner should be lower .
• Do not construct Toilet at S-E
corner.
• Don’t construct Bed room at
this corner which will affect on
relationship between Husband
and wife

• Lord Yama is the principal
god of this direction.
• There are seven Gods in this
direction 1. Usha 2. Vitatha
3. Yama 4. Krutanta 5.
Gandharva 6. Bhrungraj 7.
Mriga.
• The south direction is
banned for all auspicious
functions.

• South direction should be at
upper level than north
direction.
• Min number of doors and
windows should be provided
at south.
• South direction is related
with ladies so the
organization carried out by
ladies is good for
development.

• The corner between the
South and the West
direction is known as the
South -West direction.
• Nairuti(Putna demoness)
is the authority of this
direction. Therefore, it is
banned for all auspicious
functions.
• Do not store water at this
corner.

• This direction should be
filled with heavy
unmovable goods Pits,
wells, septic tanks, water
storage tank, toilets or
bathrooms should not be
constructed in this
direction.
• This is because cruel forces
are contaminated or get
dissolved in the pits or
water and it can prove
harmful to man.

3.7 The West Direction(Pashcim)
• The West direction
belongs to the Lord
Varuna who has control
and power over the rain
and water.
• Western side of the house
should be at high level
than eastern side.
• If we have to provide
entrance then the door
should be placed at centre.

3.Shesh(Cobra)
4.Asur

7.Sugriv
8.Dwarpal
9.Sugriv
Out of these Gods Rog, Pap, Asur,
Dwarpal and Pitar are having cruel
powers.

3.8 The North –West Direction (Vayavya)
• This direction is in the
corner of the North and the
West directions.
• This is the direction of Vayu
Devta (The God of wind).
• Air is necessary for all
living beings, therefore, tall
structure should not be built
in this direction. Tall trees
should not be planted in
this direction.
