The cloud presents organizations with a new way to deliver IT services. It can significantly lower costs, improve efficiency, and, if implemented well, provide significant competitive advantage. But cloud computing takes a number of forms: private, public hybrid and combinations of these. These options can be confusing in terms of their technical implementations as well as their economics.
This session describes the various types of clouds and major trends in the cloud market. It also looks at the economic issues to consider when making the decision on whether to go with cloud, and if you choose cloud, which path to take.

General Electric Overview Presentation of TRIZ Deployment presented to NASA-t...Richard Platt
This is a presentation by Oliver Mayer from General Electric, made back in October 2014 to NASA on their deployment of TRIZ as a part of the Innovation capabilities they had developed and deployed internally.
The Cloud topic is everywhere, not only for big software companies, but also for our customers and of course for all service providers.
How to move from the traditional IT to a full Cloud environment and how to manage the transition phase?
We show you the Trivadis Cloud transition approach, standardized and proven, which leads you into a safe and optimized usage of cloud services in your daily business.
It’s all about Data - a Trivadis core competence for decades - no matter which deployment model we choose.
In this presentation we shed light on various Cloud strategies and concrete technologically aspects.
A presentation to explain the microservices architecture, the pro and the cons, with a view on how to migrate from a monolith to a SOA architecture. Also, we'll show the benefits of the microservices architecture also for the frontend side with the microfrontend architecture.

Robust Algorithm Development for Application of Pinch Analysis on HENIJERA Editor
Since its genesis, Pinch Analysis is continuously evolving and its application is widening, reaching new horizons. The original concept of pinch approach was quite clear and, because of flexibility of this approach, innumerable applications have been developed in the industry. Consequently, a designer gets thoroughly muddled among these flexibilities. Hence, there was a need for a rigorous and robust model which could guide the optimisation engineer on deciding the applicability of the pinch approach and direct sequential step of procedure in predefined workflow, so that the precision of approach is ensured. Exploring the various options of a novice hands-on algorithm development that can be coded and interfaced with GUI and keeping in mind the difficulties faced by designers, an effort was made to formulate a new algorithm for the optimisation activity. As such, the work aims at easing out application hurdles and providing hands-on information to the Developer for use during preparation of new application tools. This paper presents a new algorithm, the application which ensures the Developer does not violate basic pinch rules. To achieve this, intermittent check gates are provided in the algorithm, which eliminate violation of predefined basic pinch rules, design philosophy, and Engineering Standards and ensure that constraints are adequately considered. On the other side, its sequential instruction to develop the pinch analysis and reiteration promises Maximum Energy Recovery (MER).

e-Clouds A Platform and Marketplace to Access and Publish Scientific Applicat...Mario Jose Villamizar Cano
Cloud computing promises to offer great opportunities for research groups; however when researchers want to execute applications in cloud infrastructures many complex processes must be accomplished. In this presentation we present the e-Clouds project which will allow researchers to easily execute many applications on public Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions. Designed for being a Software as a Service (SaaS) marketplace for scientific applications, e-Clouds allows researchers to submit jobs which are transparently executed on public IaaS platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). e-Clouds manages the on-demand provisioning and configuration of computing instances, storage, applications, schedulers, jobs, and data. The architectural design and how a first application has been supported on e-Clouds are presented. e-Clouds will allow researchers to easily share and execute applications in the cloud at low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and without the complexities associated with details of IT configurations and management. e-Clouds provides new opportunities for research groups with low or none budget for dedicated cluster or grid solutions, providing on-demand access to ready-to-use applications and accelerating the result generation of e-Science projects.

Big Data LDN 2018: USING FAST-DATA TO MAKE SEMICONDUCTORSMatt Stubbs
Date: 14th November 2018
Location: Fast Data Theatre
Time: 14:30 - 15:00
Speaker: Neil Condon
Organisation: Edwards Vacuum
About: Semiconductor fabrication plants build devices with billions of components, each 1000x smaller than the human hair, with some features that are only a few atoms across. They are the most highly automated manufacturing environments in the world: In large fabs, time-series sensor data alone tops 50 TB/day, and combining that data with subject-matter-expertise fast enough to keep the automated production equipment functioning, is a major and growing challenge. The level of collaboration required to build high-performance real-time analytics, combined with the IP-sensitive nature of the data, results in a unique DataOps environment, where the use of Cloud resources serves to complicate rather than simplify the value equation. We’ll explore some of the challenges, and discuss the attributes of a PaaS that could help the industry tackle its fast-data challenges.
Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
Sachpazis:Terzaghi Bearing Capacity Estimation in simple terms with Calculati...Dr.Costas Sachpazis
Terzaghi's soil bearing capacity theory, developed by Karl Terzaghi, is a fundamental principle in geotechnical engineering used to determine the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. This theory provides a method to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity of soil, which is the maximum load per unit area that the soil can support without undergoing shear failure.
