The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration released information about the potential impact of IRS processing delays on Arkansas tax filing. Some taxpayers who file electronic Arkansas returns using certain federal forms could experience delays, as the IRS needs extra time to update its systems for the Alternative Minimum Tax patch. Based on prior years, fewer than 1,000 Arkansas returns are expected to be affected. For returns not using the five specified federal forms, electronic filing through the IRS is expected to begin on January 14 as usual. The Department still encourages electronic filing for the fastest refund processing.
