IMAX cinema projection standard was developed by late 1960s and early
1970s in Canada.
Unlike standard projectors, the film runs horizontally, therefore the image
width is greater than the width of the film.

In the year 1929, Fox Film Corporation introduced Fox Grandeur, the first
70mm film format.
