This document provides an overview of a class for students transitioning from high school to university libraries. It discusses how university libraries are different than high school libraries in their collections and resources. The class will help students become familiar with the academic library catalog and key databases for research. Students will participate in activities to practice searching databases and the library catalog for specific topics and articles. They will learn about different types of materials available in academic libraries beyond online resources, including government documents, journals, archives and special collections.
