The Institute of Malaysian & International Studies (IKMAS), UKM and The
Embassy of The Bolivarian Republic Of Venezuela have jointly organized
The Simon Bolivar Public Lecture that simultaneously marks the launch
of the Centre for Latin American Studies (iKAL) UKM.
As of August 15, 2013, based on the UKM Board of Directors’
Decision 85/2013, the Institute of Malaysian and International
Studies (IKMAS) consists of five research centres: Centre for Asian
Studies (iKAS), Centre for Occidental Studies (iKON), Centre for Latin
American Studies (iKAL), the Centre of Western Asian Studies (iKRAB)
and Centre for African Studies (yet to be operationalized). The new
configuration impacts the areas of Knowledge Management, Position of
Academic Staff, Governance Structure, and Graduate Studies Program.

The launch of the Franz Kafka Exhibition was organized on the occasion
of the Czech National Day on 28 October 2013. This exhibition gave
recognition to one of the best literary figures of the Western world who is
of Czech origin, Franz Kafka. As writer of novels and short stories, Kafka
is regarded by many critics as one of the most influential authors of the
20th century.

This roundtable examines the shared and transnational histories of
Malaysia and Thailand through the cooperative efforts of experts from
both countries. The terms “shared” and “transnational” are explored with
a particular intent here.

language of Costa Rica,
English is widely used as
well. But for the sake of wider
knowledge diffusion, they have
