1. 7th CIA Poznan
The 7th CIA - Controlling Intelligence Adventure –
the ICV International Controller Congress took place
on April 18-19, 2013 in Poznan. We could welcome
more than 160 participants, also a guest from
Singapore (see the interview below), Russia,
Ukraine and Germany. We were extremely happy
about Prof. Horváth giving a great speech on the
subject „Results of the ICV Idea Workshop’s work”.
Also a lot of Polish WG-Leaders gave an insight into
questions of international controlling in their
lectures and in the panel discussion.
The speeches showed how wide Controlling,
in the English speaking area called also
“German controlling”, is spread on the
international level. And how high quality has
It’s admirable, how despite big economic – or
maybe because of (?-!) – changes Polish
enterprises found the way into the 21th
century; thanks to controlling.
As always in Poznan, there was also an
evening party, with music and dancing
– possibility to exchange ideas and
thoughts; it was a long night…
Thanks to the Organization Team.

2. Singapore – Poznan, a long trip for good Controlling
One of guests of the 7th CIA in Poznan had been Mrs. Joyce Yu, controller at Miba bearing group in
Singapore. We asked her to give us a short
interview:
Mrs. Yu, what has been the reason for coming to Europe, to Poznan?
I have seen the programm of the CIA in Poznan. There are no special meetings for English
speaking Controllers in Asia and therefore I decided to fly to Poznan.
Where and how did You learn „Controlling“
I studied economics and then passed all 5 steps at the Controller Akademie. It gave me a lot and
now I am working at Miba in Singapore as a Controller.
Since when are You working as a Controller for Singapore-branch of the austrian Miba-group –
and what are You doing practically?
It makes very much fun to work at Miba – now for nearly 15 years. My job is to help my boss, he is
Austrian, to learn from the past to make the companies future better. In Singapore we call it
Management Accounting, but it´s more the „German controlling“ taught in Gauting.
What did You expect in Poznan – and with what kind of impressions do You fly back to Singapore?
I intended to learn new ways of controlling, but beside I learned much about the people here in
Poland: That Controllers life in Europe is not only learning and working, but also laughing, singing
and even dancing. I enjoyed the days in Poznan and tomorrow I am flying back with lots of new
knowledge and impressions.
