Network operators' groups (NOGs) are forums for internet network operators to discuss matters of mutual interest and share experiences. They provide opportunities to network and hold training/tutorials. Key NOGs in the Asia Pacific region include APRICOT, SANOG, JANOG, TWNOG, NZNOG, AUSNOG, SGNOG, MYNOG, HKNOG, BDNOG, BTNOG and IDNOG. These groups are important for keeping the internet fit as new NOGs are being created and existing ones are collaborating with each other.
The document provides an update on the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) for 2015. It discusses the IGF's role in internet governance discussions and the importance of its continuation. It outlines the main theme and sub-themes for IGF 2015, and ways that technical communities can engage, including by submitting workshop proposals, participating in intersessional work, and indirectly through technical contributions and capacity building. Tips are provided on engagement and different stakeholders are encouraged to follow discussions and issues of relevance.
About the IETF: Presentation for the University of BotswanaInternet Society
This document discusses encryption and standards development at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It provides background on the IETF, including that it is an open standards organization with working groups that develop technical standards through an open process. The document notes that encryption usage on the internet has grown significantly in recent years. While encryption increases privacy and trust, it may have profound effects by limiting some network functions like caching, traffic management, and surveillance. The realities are that encryption shifts how certain parties can access traffic, but does not eliminate access. Standards continue to evolve to both increase security and avoid potential negative outcomes.
The document discusses the Next Generation Leaders Programme by the Internet Society which aims to identify and train emerging leaders aged 20-40 who can work across the fields of policy, technology, business and education to address challenges facing the future of the Internet. The programme blends coursework with hands-on experience at IETF meetings and other events. It helps participants develop skills in technology, policy, business and diplomacy to tackle issues around the open development, evolution and use of the Internet.

Internet Governance Community Use Slide Deck from ARINARIN
Internet governance determines how the Internet is managed and used now and in the future, with outcomes potentially affecting all stakeholders. It involves many competing interests as the Internet is a global resource and ecosystem with economic, social, and political implications. Key issues at stake include Internet innovation, open policy debates, resource policies, and user access, stability, and security. As a Regional Internet Registry, ARIN participates in discussions on Internet governance through various international organizations to advocate its positions on these issues.
The Bangladesh Network Operators Group (bdNOG) is a non-profit organization that aims to encourage knowledge sharing and operational research among Internet engineers in Bangladesh. It organizes biannual technical conferences to facilitate discussion of local Internet issues. The first bdNOG conference in 2014 included workshops on topics like BGP routing, network security, and virtualization, and attracted over 90 participants from Bangladeshi organizations that operate computer networks. BdNog also maintains a mailing list to further discuss technical issues and aims to connect the local Internet community with global technology developments.
The document provides an overview of ICANN and its role in coordinating the global internet's systems of unique identifiers. It discusses ICANN's multi-stakeholder community and governance structure. It also summarizes ICANN's Africa strategy, including capacity building programs, communication initiatives, and key projects like the High Level Governmental Meeting during ICANN 55 and the NextGen program for young Africans. Challenges facing ICANN's work in Africa include limited resources, low participation, language barriers, and lack of connectivity and awareness in local communities.
The Internet Society is a global non-profit organization with over 110 chapters worldwide and 80,000 members and supporters. Its goals are to promote the open development and use of the Internet through encouraging open protocols and standards, providing information about the Internet, and leading discussions on Internet evolution. The Deploy360 programme works to advance the real-world deployment of Internet protocols and technologies like IPv6, DNSSEC, and securing BGP by providing technical resources and educational events for network operators, developers and others.
IPv6 Deployment, Where are we now? - APEC TEL 48APNIC
