The group hosts webinars, meetings at conferences, and an open online community to easily involve new LIS professionals worldwide in networking and skills development.

Introduction to residency models by Bridgette Hendrix and Sebastian Wilke during NPSIG program "Residency Models on the Rise: Chances and challenges for new librarians, educators, and employers" at WLIC 2014 in Lyon.
This document provides an agenda for a conference session on best practices and models for connecting new librarians globally. The session includes a short presentation on the topic, time for participants to choose from parallel workshops, and workshops on library residency programs, connecting librarians globally, the importance of leadership over management, and advancing leadership potential.
The NPSIG report summarizes recent and upcoming activities of the New Professionals Special Interest Group. Molly Schwartz has been selected as the incoming NPSIG Convenor for the next two years. The IFLAcamp Library Creative Laboratory was held in May in Kaliningrad, Russia. Upcoming events include a joint session at WLIC 2013 on best practices for new librarians and a NPSIG workshop at BOBCATSSS 2014. Plans are underway for IFLAcamp at WLIC 2014 in Lyon, France and a second Library Creative Laboratory in 2014 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

It describes how the authors, two of whom were new professionals at the time, engaged and empowered other new library and information professionals by creating and nurturing the New Professionals Network. This grassroots movement provided new professionals with opportunities to influence and transform CILIP. It gave individuals a community for mutual support and raised the profile of new professionals within the larger field. The network has significantly impacted LIS governance in the UK. The document aims to inspire both current new professionals and veterans to get involved in their professional associations and effect change.
