In this second of four sessions of our “Being and Making Disciples” workshop help in Sacele on September 1,2012 we answered the question “How Did I Begin to Disciple Someone?. We started by looking at things we should take into consideration even before we start discipling someone like how we should model Jesus, the importance of focusing on relationships and the goal of what we do in discipleship. We then went on to look at five key things we should do to help those we are discipling to get off to a good start.

This is the first of four sessions of our "Being and Making Disciples" workshop held in Sacele on September 1, 2012. In this session we answer the question "What Does It Means to be a Disciple of Jesus?". We did this by first looking at what the word "disciple" means and then looking at what Jesus, Peter and Paul had to say about being a disciple and then we finished by looking at Jesus' life to learn from His example.
What does John think about faith? How is faith “knowing Jesus Christ and his Father”? What kind of “knowledge” is he talking about? How does it relate to the Promised One, the Holy Spirit? Who initiates faith? How does faith relate to “eternal life” and when does that happen? What does John think about the words of Jesus? What is the opposite of faith for John? Unbelief?

We have lots data. Let’s use it create more credible estimates to help tame the growth beast. In spite the estimating community’s efforts to provide credible estimates, government programs still seem to deliver less than promised, cost more than planned, and take longer than needed. When estimates are consistently biased low:
- Decisions of choice are distorted
- Cost growth causes more growth as programs are stretched out to fund portfolios with fixed budgets
- Taxpayers become more cynical and negative about government
- The estimating community’s credibility is seriously questioned

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
