All have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard. When a person becomes a Christian, all of their sins - past, present and future - are forgiven. God's solution to sin is found through Jesus Christ. When He died on the cross, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins so that we might be forgiven and made righteous through faith in Him.

The first teaching in the series "Growing Deep in the Gospel". In this teaching we answer the question "Why is the Gospel Important?" by looking at Romans 1:16, several other Bible verses and quotes from pastors and Christian authors. " faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Did you notice that faith involves "evidence" of things "not seen"? The marginal rendering of "substance" is "assurance." Faith involves an assurance "of things hoped for." But, if something is hoped for, that something has not yet been received.
