• Benefits of IEEE membership not reaching everyone.
• Frustrations of low returns despite heavy membership fees.
• No method to measure and reward member contributions.
• No log of individual member contributions.
• Identification of students for formation of special task
groups and committees is difficult.
• Low level of interest in research activities among students.
In order to solve these problems, an incentive based system,
called the IEEE-RASET reward points system, is proposed.

• Every IEEE-RASET student member has a reward
points account associated with her/him.
• The student execom identifies IEEE-related tasks and
activities that help enhance the value of her/his IEEE
membership.
• Student members are rewarded points on accomplishment of
these activities/tasks.

• Each task/activity is to be assigned a specific amount of
points, as decided by the college execom.
• Points earned vary, depending on the effort required for the
activity, task or achievement.
• Members may be offered badges such as “senior member”,
“diamond member”, etc. depending on their point status.
• At the end of the academic year/semester, members with the
maximum accumulated points will be rewarded at a
specially organised function.

IEEE-RASET reward points scheme is in tune with the IEEE
global initiative to pump up brand identity, value and
visibility.
• Increase motivation and interest among students.
• Quantitatively measure member contributions, and arrive at
how effectively the IEEE membership was utilised.
• Encourage students to come up with new ideas, opening a
window of opportunity for growing their technical and
managerial skills.
• Encourage research interest in IEEE related topics.

• Educate members about lesser known benefits of IEEE
membership.

execom may consider for rewarding IEEE-RASET reward
points:
• Volunteering for IEEE events.
• Participation in contests, seminars, conferences, workshops
or any other such activities organised by the IEEE.
• Completion of an IEEE project.
• Writing and/or publishing a research paper (including white
papers).
• Participation in WIE activities.

• Selection into the LiNK team.
