City, the new

HOW DO YOU ENVISION
THE CITY OF THE
FUTURE ?
 The city of the future must to be ecologically innovative
because it is a major issue nowadays. A clean and
environmentally friendly city but also a help to regenerate the
planet.
 I do not want to develop the innovations in terms of
technologies because it seems to me the most obvious part
when we envisage the future.
 Instead I would like to address challenges such as « how this
city will manage its autonomy ? » and « how to propose a new
societal model ? » as this interests me even more.
CONCEPT :
 We shall thus begin with a description of the technical
characteristics of this new city, then, shall develop its internal
functioning (we shall speak especially about a new education
system), finally, we shall explain how the city could manage to
become integrated and to remain connected with the rest of
the world.
 I. TECHNICAL ASPECTS.
 II. INTERNAL WORKING.
 III. GLOBAL INTEGRATION.
OVERVIEW :
 1. THE MAIN SPHERE

• Simplification
 2. THE OUTLYING SPHERE
• Characteristics
• Simplification
I. TECHNICAL ASPECTS.
1. THE MAIN SPHERE.
 Filtration of ultraviolet rays.
 Temperature regulator.
 Resistant to nuclear power.
 Rainwater collector at the top.
 Irrigation pipes linked to the sea.
 Cleaning center for water.
Purpose : protect inhabitants from natural disaster,
pollution, and other causes of disruption.
It is also a way to protect the environment even if there is
a huge population within the city.
CHARACTERISTICS :

collector .
Temperature
regulator.
SIMPLIFICATION :

MAIN SPHERE
2. THE OUTLYING SPHERES
 Identical as the main sphere but with settings specific to each
climate.
 Reconstruction of every climate (arid, tropical, continental…)
 CO2 produced in the main sphere is sent to the others to be
changed in O2 thanks to vegetation and come back in the
main sphere.
 Each outlying sphere is connected to the main sphere by a
non-polluting futuristic public transportation system, so that
inhabitants can travel from one sphere to another quickly.
CHARACTERISTICS :
Purpose: limite greenhouse gas emission, protect all the
types of fauna and flora, stop existence of threatened species,
preserve biodiversity.
« You know when I was
young, there were animals
which we called Panda. »
NO-ONE !

II. INTERNAL WORKING.II. INTERNAL WORKING.
1. A NEW ECONOMY
 No more physical currency only cards to facilitate
transactions.
 Every storekeeper of the main sphere are home-made
producers who make quality products. There will also be large
multibrand shopping centres with products from outside.
 Other shops will be situated in the corridors that connect the
spheres. These corridors have pedestrian walkways as well as
the public rapid transporatation system which runs overhead.
Purpose : Children could grow up in an healthy city, far from
any commercial incentive. Exposure to mass consumerism is a
choice, while inhabitants always have access to big brands.
SHOP
 No advertising in the street.
 New mode of diffusion : Customers can opt in to see virtual
advertisements of products while in the store they are
visiting. They can also rank and rate products. Products with
the best customer reviews will have premium positioning
within the stores making them easier to find.
Purpose : Stop massive advertising for a more efficient
publicity.
ADVERTISING
1. A NEW ECONOMY2. A NEW EDUCATION SYSTEM
 I trust in a new way of thinking. In this city, knowledge is the
most important thing ever. People want and live to learn.
Children are introduced to philosophy from their youngest
age.
 New methods of learning for a better education system
accessible to everyone. It would be more a pleasure than a
chore. The education system produces skilled thinkers who
strive for constant improvement and are keen to actively
participate in the improvement of the functioning of their city.
 Purpose : A more efficient system which develops the
creativity while giving the necessary knowledge. There would
be no racism, crime or any types of discrimination and
infraction anymore because the education is open minded.
FUNCTIONING
ILLUSTRATION
Dictation in natural place
with classical music in
backgroung.
At the end of the dictation,
questions about the
music.
Cultural
information :
« Mozart began to
compose when he
was 8 years old,
like you. »
« Now let us make as him
! »
Creativity time.
Learn constantly without making of distinction between every subject.
(Classical music help to
be concentrated.)
 1. MANAGEMENT
• Selection
• Mobility
 2. EXPANSION
• Characteristics
• Necessity
III. GLOBAL INTEGRATION.
1. MANAGEMENT
 In order to join the city, people are assessed on ethics and
moral values instead of on wealth :
 Respect
 Sens of community
 Integrity
 As the city is based on innovation and dynamism, the
selection will targets in priority young people
 Purpose : This new paradigm will make it possible to
facilitate the cohabitation, gathering people’s energy toward a
unique goal : evolution.
SELECTION
 The number of people entitled to live within the city will
depend on its size and capacity.
 A double mobility patern :
- For city residents, free outbound and inbound traffic.
- For non residents, visiting the city is allowed according to a capacity
check : a quota of visitors defines the number of persons that can
enter the city at a particular moment.
 Purpose : Avoid autarky for city inhabitants, and give them the
possibility to stay in touch with the rest of the world. Avoid
overpopulation within the city to not jeopardize well being of
both inhabitants and visitors.
MOBILITY
2. EXPANSION
 The first city will be a pilot in order to test the pattern, and
make adjustments. This will pave the way for a succesful
expansion of the model.
 The expansion is possible as the values upon which the model
and selection process are based are universal.
 The expansion must be realized step by step, in order to
constantly approve the process and improve the model.
 Purpose : make the city flourish and extand.
CHARACTERISTICS
 Expansion is a necessity to ensure survival of both the city
and the model. Even though the system is thought to allow
mixity and avoid the autarky of its population, the city will
suffer from its uniqueness in the long term.
 Creating the city of the future makes sens only if it can
influence cities to evolve and embrace this future.
 The ambition of the city is to become widespread and to
create a world of the future where way of living, way of
actings, mindsets would be dedicated to evolution,
improvement and well being.
NECESSITY
« There can be no keener revelation of a
society's soul than the way in which it treats its
children. »
Nelson Mandela
 If children are well-treated and well educated, they will not
commit reprehensible acts and will pass on these values to
the next generation.
 Environmental protection and respect humain beings,
collaboration towards the progress, human will evolve even
faster and for nobler causes. I trust in a better city, it would
be a new starting.
3. INNOVATIONS :WORDS OF THE END…
