2. The trailer opens with a couple of shots of heavy rain. I like this as an opening as it helps to set the mood and introduce a theme straight away. These are also very achievable shots for me to reproduce and alter for my own trailer.
3. The trailer opens with a couple of shots of heavy rain. I like this as an opening as it helps to set the mood and introduce a theme straight away. These are also very achievable shots for me to reproduce and alter for my own trailer.
4. Following from the rain shots, we are let with an establishing shot. This also gives the view an idea of the theme of the film. This however is not so achievable as there are no shabby motels I can get to. However this effect could be achieved by simply using a shabby hotel, if I choose to locate it in such.
5. Close up shots are used to convey emotion strongly. It also is used here to introduce us to the main character. I think that quick snaps of close up shots if used correctly can produce a very effective, tense feel to the film.
6. This shot of a girl running from one car to another is a very effective shot I feel as it increases tension. It is also fairy achievable for me to adapt for my own trailer. This however was paired with the dialogue ‘‘ HEY!’’ I feel that this although urgent could be adapted to make less typical.
7. Immediately after, we are shown this screen of text. A black background and glowing animated text. This adds to the eerie vibe we have started to recognise.
8. The second part to the text is shown on top of this quick shot of a car passing by. Just prior to this there is dialogue saying ‘It’s a dead end’’. I think that this is very cleverly placed as it makes the connection to the ‘‘ only if…’’ moments in everyone life, similar to this car not being able to make it past the floods.
9. The third part returns back to a black background, placing more emphasis on the words. Which quickly fades onto the next shot of someone getting out of a car. This then leaves a pause in the text and allows us to introduced to another character, a ‘policeman’ is this text suggesting that it is too much of a coincidence that a policeman would be caught up in the same situation?
11. The next is placed over the main character. There is a curious, inspecting glace which so insides with the text. For my own trailer, I would like to be able to really have a strong connection between intervening texts and the series of shots surrounding it. I think it makes for more intriguing viewing.
12. The frame is the held on this for a second or two as this is the last of the text before the peek of the trailer. I think that the phrase ‘When strangers share a connection’ is particularly grabbing, as this is something which the audience can relate themselves to. For my own trailer, I would want to pick a subject which most have always been spooked out by, like this one.
13. These next few slides are very flowing, along with the stillness in the music. One note is held throughout. This is a great device in that for a couple of seconds it becomes almost dreamy and surreal.
14. These next few slides are very flowing, along with the stillness in the music. One note is held throughout. This is a great device in that for a couple of seconds it becomes almost dreamy and surreal.
15. These next few slides are very flowing, along with the stillness in the music. One note is held throughout. This is a great device in that for a couple of seconds it becomes almost dreamy and surreal.
16. Before being interrupted by a bright white screen, in contrast to the darker colours we have been seeing prior. I really like the use of this plain screen as the music peeks, it gives a feel of fear and anxiety.
17. The white screen is then faded into this as the lighting strikes, before returning to a blank screen this time of black. This again is effective because as is dims it gives a sense of calm, much in contrast to the white slide. These transition slides seem to be put there to represent different feelings in the film.
18. The white screen is then faded into this as the lighting strikes, before returning to a blank screen this time of black. This again is effective because as is dims it gives a sense of calm, much in contrast to the white slide. These transition slides seem to be put there to represent different feelings in the film.
19. It is at the point of this close up when there is a silence in the music and a heart beat is introduced. I really love how this works here as the middle of the trailer seems to be a complete rollercoaster in contrasts of feelings. The dialogue here is ‘ people started dying’ close ups are very good as placing emphasis on dialogue rather than location or anything else.
20. This next shot is a fast tracking shot on a handheld camera. I think that it is a good start to the climax of the trailer as it builds tension and no longer are the audience guessing and assuming the eeriness, it is shoved right in front of them. I am going to consider recreating this tracking shot in my trailer.
21. After a couple of shots of some unfamiliar faces, we are faced with another white screen and similar to the last time, this indicates anxiety and fear. I like how the white screen indicates this, it think it gives the trailer more depth and an arty feel.
22. After a couple of shots of some unfamiliar faces, we are faced with another white screen and similar to the last time, this indicates anxiety and fear. I like how the white screen indicates this, it think it gives the trailer more depth and an arty feel.

24. This is one of my favourite shots of the whole film, although on for hardly a second. The composition, the framing the body shape all work well as it suggests, I think, that this is the person responsible for the happenings.
25. Then comes more use of the blank screen we have seen throughout. Here again, used to create tension in the climax of trailer.
26. Then comes more use of the blank screen we have seen throughout. Here again, used to create tension in the climax of trailer.
27. Then comes more use of the blank screen we have seen throughout. Here again, used to create tension in the climax of trailer.
28. I like the use of layering and silhouettes in this shot. It is something I would like to adapt and use for my own trailer as I think it could fit with my theme if slightly changed. I also think the angle makes for more interesting viewing.
