Goodyear (United States) Reports Second Quarter, First Half 2020 Results
• Goodyear’s second quarter 2020 sales were $2.1 billion, down 41% from a year ago. The decline was driven by lower industry volume
and reduced sales from other tire-related businesses. These factors were partially offset by improvements in price/mix.
• Tire unit volumes totaled 20.4 million, down 45% from the prior year’s period. Industry demand during the second quarter was
significantly affected by the actions governments, businesses and consumers took to slow the spread of COVID-19, with the greatest
impact occurring in April and May.
• Goodyear’s second quarter 2020 net loss was $696 million ($2.97 per share) compared to net income of $54 million (23 cents per
share) a year ago. The decrease was driven by a decline in segment operating income, a non-cash asset impairment charge and higher
rationalization charges.
• Second quarter 2020 adjusted net loss was $437 million ($1.87 per share), compared to adjusted net income of $58 million (25 cents
per share) in 2019. Per share amounts are diluted.
• The company reported a segment operating loss of $431 million in the second quarter of 2020, down $650 million from a year ago.
The decline primarily reflects lower volume and reduced factory utilization.
Year-to-Date Results
• Goodyear’s sales for the first six months of 2020 were $5.2 billion, a 28% decline from the 2019 period, primarily due to lower volume
and reduced sales from other tire-related businesses. These factors were partially offset by improvements in price/mix.
• Tire unit volumes totaled 51.7 million, down 31% from 2019. Replacement tire shipments decreased 28%, reflecting lower industry
demand. Original equipment volume declined 41%, driven by lower global vehicle production.
• Goodyear’s net loss was $1.3 billion for the first six months of 2020 ($5.62 per share) compared to a net loss of $7 million (3 cents
per share) in the prior year’s period.
• Goodyear’s net income for the comparable period in 2019 included rationalization charges of $107 million, primarily related to a plan
to modernize two tire manufacturing facilities in Germany.
• Goodyear’s adjusted net loss for the first six months was $575 million ($2.46 per share), compared to adjusted net income of $103
million (44 cents per share) in the prior year’s period. Per share amounts are diluted.
• The company reported a segment operating loss of $478 million for the first six months of 2020, down $887 million from a year ago.
The decrease was primarily due to lower volume and reduced factory utilization. These factors were partially offset by lower SAG,
driven by reductions in payroll and advertising expenses.
Executive Commentary
“Although our first half results were greatly affected by difficult industry conditions as a result of the ongoing COVID-19
pandemic, the decisive actions we took to safeguard our business helped mitigate the impact on our results,” said Chairman, chief
executive officer and president. While we are encouraged to see industry demand gradually recovering in most major markets,
our plans for the second half consider the challenges and uncertainties that remain. We continue to focus on the wellbeing of our
associates, servicing our customers and supporting our brands while appropriately managing our costs and working capital. We
are also committed to supporting the strong growth we are seeing in our e-commerce and mobile installation businesses. These
investments in distribution will strengthen our leadership position and support our long-term growth prospects as consumer
buying behavior continues to evolve within the tire industry.”

Hella (Germany) Presents Final Figures for The Fiscal Year 2019/2020
• Consolidated sales adjusted for currency and portfolio effects fall by 14.3
percent to € 5.8 billion, adjusted earnings before interest and taxes fall to € 233
million, adjusted EBIT margin stands at 4.0 percent
• Reported EBIT comes to minus € 343 million due to non-cash impairments;
dividend payment to be suspended
• Adjusted free cash flow from operating activities at € 227 million despite the
clearly negative market environment
• Automotive sales fall significantly, but continue to perform better than the
market; Aftermarket impacted by market weakness in the workshop and spare
parts business; Special Applications impacted by weak business for
agricultural and construction vehicles and also by the Covid-19 pandemic
• Forecast for current fiscal year 2020/2021 reflects the high level of market
uncertainty and lower light vehicle production
Executive Commentary
"Global light vehicle production collapsed by around 18 percent in the past
fiscal year. This means that some 16 million fewer vehicles were
manufactured than the previous year", said HELLA CEO. "One significant
reason for this development is the global Covid-19 pandemic. But the
markets were already in decline beforehand. In light of the challenging
market environment, we can nevertheless be satisfied with our results
overall. By taking resolute action at an early stage, we were able to
partially compensate, specifically on the costs side, for the loss of
business."

Porsche SE (Germany) acquires stake in Aurora Labs
Porsche Automobil Holding SE, Stuttgart, expands its venture portfolio by investment in
Aurora Labs Ltd (Aurora Labs), Tel Aviv / Israel, for 2.5 million US dollars. This
represents a stake in the low single digit percentage area. Founded in 2016, Aurora Labs is
specialized in the validation and verification of software in the field of automotive and
connected devices. The technology of Aurora Labs is especially suitable for efficient and
safe software updates via mobile interface, so called ‘over-the-air’ updates. This represents
a fast-growing market since the amount of software related applications as well as the
requirement for instant update ability in cars will further increase in the coming years.
Compared to solutions currently available, Aurora Labs with its machine learning based
technology is able to detect and predict software errors and perform system updates to the
entire car with zero downtime. If an updated software is faulty, Aurora Labs' technology
can be used to immediately restore the previous software version. This comes along with a
reduction of time necessary for updates by as much as 90 percent, leading to a substantial
decline in cost for memory, data and energy consumption. The capability of Aurora Labs’
technology has already been confirmed in several proof-of-concept projects. Aurora Labs is
entering serial implementation within the next two years.
Executive Commentary
Member of the board of management since 1 July 2020 in charge of investment
management, says: “In the future software will be the major differentiating factor in cars
and efficient software updates will play an increasingly important role. Through our
investment in Aurora Labs we add a company to our portfolio in a market with strong
growth potential.“ Porsche SE expects such services to become increasingly relevant for
automotive manufacturers such as the Volkswagen Group.

Schaeffler (Germany) generates positive operating earnings in the 1st half of
2020 despite significant decline in revenue
• The Schaeffler Group’s revenue for the first six months amounts to 5,574 million
euros (prior year: 7,226 million euros). As a result of lower demand due to the
coronavirus pandemic, revenue for the period decreased considerably at constant
currency, falling by 21.8 percent; the decline for the second quarter amounted to 34.5
percent.
• The Schaeffler Group earned 65 million euros (prior year: 556 million euros) in
EBIT before special items in the first six months of 2020. This represents an EBIT
margin before special items of 1.2 percent (prior year: 7.7 percent). The deterioration
compared to the prior year was primarily attributable to the decrease in gross margin
as a result of the volume-related revenue declines.
• EBIT for the reporting period was adversely affected by 288 million euros (prior
year: 73 million euros) in special items. These included an impairment of goodwill
allocated to the Automotive OEM division by EUR 249 million recognized in the
first quarter.
• Special items additionally comprise 39 million euros in expenses incurred to
expand the programs RACE (Automotive OEM division) and FIT (Industrial
division), especially in connection with reducing headcount. Including these special
items, EBIT amounted to 223 million euros (prior year: +483 million euros).
Executive Commentary
CEO of Schaeffler AG, stated: “Due to proactive management we have been able
to generate a better Free Cash-flow in the first half of 2020 than in the previous

BorgWarner (United States) to Supply EGR Modules for FCA Mild Hybrids
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com

Solution Description
BorgWarner supplies its exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology to the latest FireFly gasoline engine, which was developed for the Fiat
500 and Panda hybrid models. The complete BorgWarner EGR module includes cooler and valve and is the company’s first gasoline EGR
module to be used on mild-hybrid engine technology for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region.
Its compact package reduces weight and therefore lowers the emissions of Fiat’s naturally aspirated 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine. The
technology is used to contain combustion temperatures and increase engine efficiency by recirculating exhaust gas back into the intake air,
delivering reduced brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and improved fuel economy, supporting industry goals for cleaner-running hybrid
applications. Moreover, it also reduces brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) due to dethrottling within the part load area. Featuring hybrid
tube technology and materials, BorgWarner’s EGR coolers are proven to resist fatigue caused by the high temperatures in gasoline engines.
Additionally, the valve directly measures valve lift which increases the accuracy of EGR control. BorgWarner offers a broad range of versatile
and multifunctional EGR solutions for gasoline and diesel applications in the light- and commercial-vehicle markets. These solutions include
individual components as well as complete modules equipped with valves and coolers for high- and low-pressure EGR systems.

Solution Description
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has become more intelligent in many areas, and the driving experience reaches new heights. The digital innovations in e.g.
MBUX include new features that make driving even more enjoyable and even safer: among them are rear-axle steering with a large steering angle and safety
innovations such as the rear airbag. Furthermore – as a new function of PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side – the vehicle body can be raised just before a side impact
thanks to the active E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension. Following systematic further development, the driving assistance systems are a further step
towards autonomous driving. Thanks to improved environmental sensors, for example, the parking systems give the driver even better support when
manoeuvring at low speed. While visualisation reaches new levels by virtue of integration into the intuitive operation of MBUX. Can a luxury saloon with a
long wheelbase be almost as manoeuvrable and agile as a compact car around town? Yes, if it has rear-axle steering with a large steering angle at the rear
axle. Are more safety innovations even possible in the interior? Yes, as the S-Class demonstrates: The rear airbag for severe frontal collisions deploys from
the front seat backrests, extending the protective systems for the two passengers on the outer rear seats. Can the active E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL
suspension improve not only comfort, but also safety? Yes, because in addition to the well-proven PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side system, the new S-Class is able
to raise the entire vehicle body immediately before an impending side collision. This can benefit all the occupants.

Hyundai Mobis (South Korea) makes inroads into the global ‘safety technology’
market with the world’s first roof airbag
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com

Solution Description
Hyundai Mobis said on 26th, March that the company is concentrating on enhancing the reliability of the new safety devices like the roof
airbag and is planning to leverage its differentiated technology to take on the global market. Hyundai Mobis’ roof airbag is deployed under
the surface side of the vehicle in a rollover accident, covering the entire roof in just 0.08 seconds, protecting and preventing all passengers
from being ejected out of the sunroof. Since it began mass-producing its first airbags in 2002, Hyundai Mobis has continuously introduced
advanced airbag technologies. Recently, the company is developing convergence technologies in safety on full scale. Meanwhile, the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducted a safety evaluation of Hyundai Mobis’ roof airbag. Last January, NHTSA gave
a presentation on the 'Status of NHTSA’s Roof Ejection Mitigation Research’ at 2020 SAE Government/Industry Meeting hosted by the
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and disclosed the evaluation results of Hyundai Mobis’ roof airbag. NHTSA is a US government

Hyundai Mobis (South Korea) to utilize front grill to create artificial engine sound
for EV
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
19
Solution Description
Hyundai Mobis, which has been accelerating the development of the core components of environmentally friendly cars, developed an artificial engine sound
system using the grill cover of the electric vehicle for the first time in the world. Unlike internal combustion engine vehicles that have holes in the front grill to let
the air flow in, the front of an electric vehicle is completely blocked. Based on this fact, Hyundai Mobis creatively changed the way we think and used the cover
itself as a component of the speakers and developed a new system as a result. Hyundai Mobis greatly improved the efficiency and performance of this new system
compared to existing products and added such functions as the turn signal sound and charging status alarm as well as the artificiall engine sound. In keeping with
the age of future cars when autonomous driving becomes common, it is necessary to inform pedestrians of the direction in which the vehicle is going or whether
it is operating so that they can be prepared in advance. Also, it can be used as speakers for playing music during outdoor activities, such as camping. Acoustic
Vehicle Alert Sound (AVAS) is a speaker system that produces a sound outside of the vehicle so that pedestrians can sense an oncoming environmentally-friendly
car that emits almost no noise. It is differentiated from ASD which produces an artificial engine sound inside the vehicle for the fun of driving. Governments around
the world are making the artificial engine sound system mandatory to prevent accidents involving pedestrians from becoming more common as environmentally
friendly cars are too quiet. This system, developed by Hyundai Mobis, installs the existing product, which used to be installed inside the vehicle in the form of
complete speakers, on the back of the grill cover located on the front of the vehicle, in the form of a half-finished product. A speaker consists of the actuator, which
actually generates sound, and the diaphragm, which propagates the sound to the outside. Hyundai Mobis separated the actuator, attached it to the grill cover and
used the grill cover as the diaphragm of the speakers. Unlike existing speakers installed inside the electric vehicle with a blocked front, the grill cover, exposed to
the outside, produces sound in this system and there is no acoustic pressure loss. So it is very efficient.

Hyundai Mobis (South Korea) develops the next-generation V2X control technology,
or the Integrated Communication Controller for the first time in Korea
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
20
Solution Description
Hyundai Mobis announced that the company developed the Integrated Communication Controller, which enables real-time communication
of various vehicle information with other vehicles or infrastructure through external communication networks. It succeeded in localizing the
core connected car technology that connects vehicles, people, things and infrastructure with high-speed communication networks. It is
expected that various kinds of vehicle and driver data will be utilized to apply a wider range of services that provide safety and convenience.
The Integrated Communication Controller, developed by Hyundai Mobis, connects various Electronic Control Units (ECU) mounted on the
vehicle, e.g. the powertrain, multimedia, airbags and brake systems, through wired communication to collect and analyze various kinds of
vehicle operation data in real time. It can process large amounts of data, including the data from various sensors like radars, lidars and
cameras, and autonomous driving-related data. It also communicates this information with the outside through full-time wireless network
connectivity. It can also implement various connected car services, such as remote vehicle control and automatic update of the software of
various systems, and functions like eCall which automatically transmits accident information in case of an emergency.

Hyundai Mobis (South Korea) develops ‘in-cabin systems’ utilizing the autonomous
driving sensors!
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
21
Solution Description
Hyundai Mobis said that it successfully developed the system for detecting rear-seat passengers with a ‘radar’ (ROA, Rear Occupant Alert), and it is
planning to propose the system to global automakers. The ROA is a device for preventing passengers from being left unattended in rear seats. In the
past, the weight sensor of children’s car seats or the ultrasonic sensor were used in general. Hyundai Mobis vastly improved detection accuracy by
replacing them with the radar sensor. It is expected to greatly help prevent heatstroke accidents caused every summer by children being left unattended
in vehicles and other safety accidents. If a passenger is left in the rear seat, the passenger detection system alerts the driver with the sound made when
the door is closed, or through the instrument panel or smartphone. The system, developed by Hyundai Mobis, is known to have secured electromagnetic
reliability so that it works normally near high-voltage lines and railroad tracks, and be precise enough to distinguish adults, infants and pets. Hyundai
Mobis is planning to develop a radar capable of measuring the heartbeats of passengers and expand the biometric function this year. Hyundai Mobis
proactively developed related technologies because key global markets, such as North America and Europe, are introducing laws and regulations to
prevent children from being left unattended in vehicles one after another. In addition to this radar-based passenger detection system, Hyundai Mobis
developed Driver State Warning (DSW), which prevents dozing off at the wheel by using the ‘camera’ to track the pupils, last year. The company is
planning to secure sensor fusion technologies, which combine radars and cameras, one after another, and preempt the in-cabin sensor market. The
in-cabin sensor technology is an infrastructure technology that provides passenger safety and convenience in the high-level autonomous driving mode.
In level 3 or higher autonomous driving, no driving is necessary in autonomous driving mode. As a result, it is estimated that various safety and
convenience technologies for passengers will arrive quickly and quite robust in nature.

Hyundai Motor Group (South Korea) Develops Air-Conditioning Technologies to
Maintain Clean Air in Vehicles
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
22
Solution Description
Hyundai Motor Group announced new technologies to improve the quality of air in vehicles and create a more pleasant indoor environment for
customers. Recognizing the growing concern about air quality, the Group unveiled three new air-conditioning technologies – ‘After-Blow’,
‘Multi-Air Mode’, and ‘Fine Dust Indicator’. The technologies will be introduced initially on select models in Korea and expand to upcoming
Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles worldwide in the future. ‘After-Blow’ dries the condensate on the evaporator and suppresses mold growth in
the air-conditioning system, which can cause an odor during hot weather. After the engine is turned off and the condensate on the evaporator drains
naturally for about 30 minutes, ‘After-Blow’ activates for 10 minutes to dry the evaporator and any condensate leftover in the air passage. The
air-conditioning system automatically allows influx of outside air during this time to prevent humidity from building up. The technology uses an
intelligent battery sensor (IBS) to monitor the battery and stops functioning when the battery is low, allaying any concerns about batter discharge.
It also de-activates when the air conditioning system is not in use for a certain period of time, or when the outside temperature is low.

Continental And aft automotive Set Up Joint Venture For The Future of Mobility
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com

Technology company Continental and system supplier aft automotive are setting up a joint venture to manufacture couplings made of high-performance
plastics for the for the future of mobility. The partners have signed a relevant agreement to create a 50/50 joint venture. The two companies have already
been jointly developing special couplings that connect the cooling circuit or the turbocharger/charge-air cooler with units in the engine compartment
since 2016. This successful development partnership is now being further expanded by setting up a joint venture. Unlike conventional vehicles, electric
vehicles require multiple cooling circuits with sophisticated thermal management. Batteries in electric vehicles achieve optimum operating efficiency
at temperatures between 20 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius. This temperature span enables long ranges, allows the batteries to work more
efficiently and extends battery lifetimes. For that reason, in similar fashion to drive and power components, the batteries have to be either cooled or
heated, depending on the outside temperature. That results in complex circuits that significantly increase the demands on the individual components.
The weight of the new hose generation is also being further reduced. Smaller line cross-sections, for instance on the high-pressure side and in the battery
cooling system, mean that less coolant is needed when compared with previous systems. The right mixture of rubber, polyamide and aluminum
materials and an ingenious line geometry ensure the system has adequate inherent stability. Special lines and couplings made of high-performance
plastics are developed for this.

BMZ and Continental (Germany) are making a rubber supply chain digitally traceable for
the first time
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
44
For the first time ever, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and technology company Continental are
making a rubber supply chain seamlessly electronically traceable – from cultivation in Indonesia and further processing through to tire production.
Continental is collaborating with the German development cooperation specifically in the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan in Borneo. The
Kapuas Hulu district has two national parks with extensive natural forests, designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The project partners document all
steps in the supply chain with a digital traceability system. The 450 small farmers involved so far achieve significantly higher sales prices than usual
for the high-quality natural rubber they produce. This is due to the fact that they are trained in sustainable cultivation and with better technology, such
as how the trees need to be cut in order to obtain as much rubber as possible. The small farmers thus significantly increase their surface yields and can
use the trees for longer. The digital traceability system allows the production and supply chain of the rubber to be evaluated in detail. The production
areas mapped by GPS, the raw rubber deliveries and sales prices achieved are documented in the system directly on delivery in the warehouse. In
addition, the system checks the raw rubber quantity delivered with regard to the production area. If the delivered quantity exceeds the expected
production volume, the system indicates this. In this way, employees can prevent rubber from entering the supply chain from non-registered areas, e.g.
illegally deforested areas.

most storied landmarks, styled in five Danish designers’new collections that incorporated face masks they had either created or customized. A face

long-standing relationship with Copenhagen Fashion Week can be traced back to 2009, when Mercedes-Benz began facilitating shared fashion
show locations for several designers each season. More recently, Mercedes-Benz has focused on collaborating with one designer in a more in-depth
capacity, often to create engaging social media content and impactful visuals around their show or event. Recent partnerships include the likes of
