Is a Monolith Standing in the Way of Your Digital Transformation? Refactor fo...DevOps.com
Monolithic applications are defined as single-tiered software in which the user interface and data access code is combined into a single application for a single platform. Monoliths can impact your ability to create APIs, deliver capability quickly, and even perform routine application maintenance. Refactoring is the antidote to monolithic software. It can result in improved team agility and autonomy, plus it paves the way for API creation. Learn how DevOps for the Enterprise software can help you refactor- from discovery of your z/OS assets and impact analysis, to the modularization task itself, including editing, compiling, testing, and debugging.

IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions automates the deployment of VMware software-defined datacenters in the IBM Cloud, but this is only the beginning of successfully operationalizing an enterprise cloud deployment. One of the central tenants of DevOps is making sure you have properly versioned everything. Many distributed teams have moved to using Git for this purpose. Git is the software configuration manager (SCM) kids are learning in school and it's easy for anyone to pick up. You can even use it on your own machine to manage your own projects. Meanwhile, your z/OS code is sitting in an old SCM that no new developers know and that they don't want to use. If you're using GIT for all the rest of your source, why to do you limit your z teams with that host-based SCM? Come to this session to learn how GIT can be used for traditional z/OS development.

How to Balance System Speed and Risk for Multi-Platform InnovationClaudia Ring
Walking the line between speed to market and stability of mission-critical systems is something many enterprise organizations deal with on a consistent basis, especially when planning a major application release. Multi-speed IT is a term that connotes the difficulty of balancing speed and risk for these enterprises, but also one that inherently defines a solution; moving at different speeds depending on system requirements. While moving at various speeds based on whether you are releasing changes for Systems of Engagement (SOE) or Systems of Record (SOR) can seem negative, it can be used as a stepping stone towards complete enterprise agility and iterative improvements in release management across both types of systems. Join Rosalind Radcliffe, IBM Distinguished Engineer and Chief Architect for DevOps, as she discusses;
How to begin incorporating continuous testing into the release cycle for both SOE's and SOR's
How deployment automation can be incorporated into multi-platform deployments
How earlier, more frequent testing and automated deployments can help stabilize risk while increasing speed
Customer success with using these testing and deployment solutions to achieve agility across both SOE's and SOR's

Applying DevOps for more reliable Public Sector Software DeliverySanjeev Sharma
Government agencies and contractors must build the competency to deliver software with greater predictability, quality, speed and frequency. The alternative of higher costs and late delivery is no longer acceptable - politically, economically or justifiably. This session will share findings from client experiences and lay out the DevOps approach that is help agencies and their contractors address the challenges inherent in software application delivery.
Mobile to mainframe - The Challenges and Best Practices of Enterprise DevOps IBM UrbanCode Products
Delivering software is complex. Systems being developed are made up of multiple components, which in turn interact with other systems, services, application servers, data sources and invocations of 3rd party systems. In an Enterprise this complexity is further enhanced by the cross-platform nature of the infrastructure typical enterprises have. While the customers may be interacting with Systems of Engagement using Mobile and Web Apps, the core capabilities of the enterprise that the customers access are in Systems of Record that are running on large datacenters and more than likely Mainframe systems. Keeping these complex systems up and running and constantly updated with the latest capabilities is a task that requires constant coordination between the lines of business, various cross-platform development, QA and operations teams.
DevOps addresses these development and deployment challenges. The goal of DevOps is to align Dev and Ops by introducing a set of principles and practices such as continuous integration and continuous delivery. Cross-platform enterprise Systems take the need for these practices up a level due to their inherent complexity and distributed nature. Such systems need even more care in applying DevOps principles as there are multiple platforms to be targeted, in a coordinated manner, each with its own requirements, quirks, and nuanced needs. This talk takes a look at the DevOps challenges specific to Cross-platform Enterprise Systems and present Best Practices to address them.

How to Drive Maximum Business Value from IT Investments with the Flow FrameworkTasktop
When organizations connect and measure the impact of their IT investments on the business’ strategy, business and technology leaders are able to partner more effectively and accelerate the delivery of real business value.
But to do so, these teams must be seamlessly aligned throughout the delivery pipeline, able to quickly identify and resolve bottlenecks, and work together to optimize their processes end-to-end. Flow Metrics enable organizations to measure what matters in software delivery, optimizing the flow of business value from ideation to operation and turning IT from a project-oriented cost center to a profit-generating product operating model.
Key Takeaways:
Discover how to align business and IT leaders to optimize value delivery using the Flow Framework™
Learn how to use Flow Metrics to expose bottlenecks and reveal opportunities to improve time-to-market, responsiveness to customers, and quality
Understand how to create a seamless end-to-end flow of business value in large-scale application delivery using Blueprint Storyteller and Tasktop Hub

SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. To track such hacker activities on dark web sources like hacker forums, private Telegram channels, and other hidden platforms where cyber threats often originate, you can check SOCRadar’s Dark Web News.

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.
