The BlackBerry Z3 is the latest offering from the iconic brand in India, and for its asking price, is also the most affordable one running BB OS 10. The 5-inch smartphone boasts a solid build quality and reasonable specs, and from what we've seen, comes across as a dependable workhorse. Here's a quick review of the BlackBerry Z3, covering its specs, features, interface, camera and performance.
The OPPO N3 is a phablet with a 5.5-inch display and a unique motorized 16MP rear camera that can swivel 206 degrees. It has good performance powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM, but is thicker and heavier than most other phones. The Galaxy Alpha marks a departure from Samsung’s usual design philosophy, and rocks top-notch specs too. Features like the built-in fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor we saw on the Galaxy S5 have made their way to the Alpha too, but sadly, the latter isn’t impervious to water like its more accomplished sibling. With the metal frame as its mainstay, we wanted to know whether the Galaxy Alpha can impress us overall as a compelling option and prove its mettle as a worthy daily driver. And that’s exactly what we hope to accomplish with this review.

If there was one thing that was missing in the Nokia Lumia lineup, it was dual-SIM support. The drought has ended with the Lumia 630, an entry-level smartphone from Nokia that holds two firsts to its credit – it's the first Windows Phone dual-SIM device, and also the first to run the very latest version of the OS, i.e. Windows Phone 8.1. Here's how this notable device fares when it comes to real-life usage...
The Apple iPhone is one of the most iconic gadgets ever, and so far, the brand has always focussed on the device’s one-handed utility. Giving in to the market dynamics and the ever-increasing demand from its loyal fan-following, Apple has now gone the phablet way… and the result is the iPhone 6 Plus. Apart from the screen size, battery capacity and a few other features like optical image stabilisation thrown in, it’s not too different from its sibling the iPhone 6. Here's our review
The Lenovo A6000 Plus has a 5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 8MP and 2MP cameras, and a 2,300mAh battery. It has a sharp and clear display but lacks screen protection. Performance is good for regular use but it can heat up during gaming. Battery life lasts through a full day. While it has competitive specs for the price, its Vibe UI is cluttered and the power button feels flimsy. At Rs. 7,499 it currently has no direct competition but that may change soon.
The Nokia X is Nokia's first Android device, running a customized version of Android 4.1 without Google services. It has modest specs including a 4-inch 480x800 screen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 3MP rear camera but no front camera, and provides up to one day of battery life. While it lacks full Android capabilities and multitasking, the Nokia X offers Nokia services like Maps and MixRadio, sturdy build quality and customizability through sideloading apps. However, its low-end specs and camera mean it is best suited for basic smartphone use rather than power users.
The Oppo R5 comes with a nice set of features offering great functionality, above all the build quality offered by the device is amazing, and there are barely any flaws with the design except the missing 3.5mm audio connector, which takes away some part of the functionality. If you are looking for a smartphone with a powerful snapper, the R5 is certainly not the one and as its closest competition the Yu Yureka, beats the R5 in every domain and mostly in the price by being available at one third of its cost. But, if you are looking for a well built device which you can flaunt, the R5 is there for you, however you would be paying heavily for looks.

It is powered by an Intel Atom processor and has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It also has a large 3,300mAh battery that provides all-day battery life. The review praises the phone's design, display, camera performance and long battery life but notes the dated Android 4.3 operating system and low screen resolution as flaws.
The Moto X has special features like always-on display, touchless control, and interactive stories. It has a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 10MP camera, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Unique features like active display and touchless control redefine the user experience. Touchless control allows interacting with the phone using just voice commands. The built is solid and it has good battery life and camera performance. However, the specs are not flagship level and storage is non-expandable. Overall, it is a well-built phone that takes interaction to the next level with innovative features like touchless control.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 has a metallic rim and glass back panel, 5-inch HD display, 13MP rear camera, 2,300mAh battery, and runs Android 4.4 Kitkat. It has a pleasing design, long battery life, and good cameras, but middling performance. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away
