Professional Profile
An enthusiastic and dedicated Technical Services Engineer/Project/Site Manager with extensive
experience in all areas of plant maintenance throughout the Petro-Chem. industry. A time served
Mechanical Fitter who has progressed into management to become a successful leader who is able to
develop and motivate others to achieve targets. I am a proactive individual with a logical and determined
approach with the ability to manage projects from conception through to a successful completion within
limited timescales and budgets. Widely travelled throughout Europe and the Middle East on both onshore
and offshore installations and enjoys performing effectively within a highly pressurised working
environment.
Objective
I am now looking to build on my extensive range of technical skills within the Petro-Chem. industry with a

Career Summary
1986-date
PROJECT MANAGER (South Africa/Europe) – Koch Glitsch (Full time 2010 – Date)
Responsible for the planning and execution of large contracts carried out in South Africa and
Europe with manpower in excess of 140 men and budgets exceeding £4.5m.
Promoting and enforcing that all Safety guidelines are being met and strictly adhered to as per the
companies Safety Policy
Leading a team of Superintendants, Supervisors, QA/QC and Site Agents and ensuring that each
individual is compliant in his role and realises his responsibilities and expectations.
Working closely with the client and lead project executioners to control expenditure and maximize
performance with regards to meeting schedules and deadlines efficiently.
Assessments of employees to guarantee suitability of employment within the organisation.
TECH ENGINEER- Koch-Glitsch (2002-2010)
Successful completion of long and short term contracts in Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia,
India, Malaysia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Lithuania and throughout the UK, Europe and
Scandinavia. Also offshore work in the Caspian Sea, North Sea and off Newfoundland Canada.
Liaising with clients to ensure contracts are carried out effectively within their pre-determined
timescale.
Advising and reviewing method statements and risk assessments to execute jobs efficiently and
safely. Daily Completion of Job safety Analysis to highlight and minimise any hazards.
Reporting daily with clients’ management and engineers and submitting progress reports and
delivering detailed end of job reports with recommendations for future contracts.
Resolving any technical queries which arise regarding all aspects of installation and modifications
to be carried out.
Carrying out surveys and thorough inspections prior to installation to determine any shortfalls or
deviations from the drawings. Issuing new as built drawings as necessary.
Responsible that all permitry is correct and being strictly adhered to. Checking isolations of all
vessels and columns prior to initial confined space entry.

SITE MANAGER / SUPERINTENDANT- KIRSTALL (2005-2010)
Responsible for the successful execution of numerous contracts throughout the UK and Europe
from pre-shutdown planning to final completion and sign off.
Managing the safety and welfare of up to 100 employees per shift whilst adhering to all HASAW
guidelines and conforming to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 European standards.
Liaising with clients to establish positive manufacturer and customer relations.
Controlling and monitoring man-hours, budgets, shift patterns, extra work orders and devising
spreadsheets to contain all the relevant information.
Carrying out tool box talks and motivating employees prior to all work, co-ordinating
accident investigations and issuing reports along with recommendations for safety
improvements.
Assisting in work related training and breathing apparatus mask fitting tests.
Issuing and overseeing the completion of QA documentation.
MECHANICAL FITTER / SUPERVISOR- KOCH-GLITSCH (1992-2002)
Working as part of a team carrying out major revamps and installation of column and drum
internals on shutdown and emergency work throughout the UK, Europe and Scandinavia.
All types of tray work and distributors including random packing, structured packing and
mist eliminators.
Working to very fine tolerances using specialised tools and equipment including laser levels
and a variety of pneumatic tools.
Carrying out isolation work to all vessels. Removal and reinstatement of pipe work and
valves with the use of craneage and lifting equipment.
MECHANICAL FITTER- CAMMELL LAIRD SHIPBUILDERS (1990-1992)
Testing, fitting and flushing of the weapons hydraulics system.
Commissioning of the reverse osmosis plant.
Testing of the refrigeration units.
APPRENTICESHIP- MECHANICAL FITTER- ASSOCIATED OCTEL (1986-90)
4 year apprenticeship gaining experience in the overhauling and replacement of mechanical
seals, gland packing, shafts and bearings.
Overhauling rotary and reciprocating compressors.
Refurbishing and replacement of plug, ball diaphragm and gate valves.
Training in the use of Lathes, Milling machines, surface and pedestal grinders and all hand
tools.
