IAGZ activities summary for first 4 months of 2012
1. Indian Association of Greater Zurich
Our activities so far...
With the first four months of the year behind us, it is time for a sum- 27th April 2012
mary of what exactly your EC has been up to and what we have in store
for you.
Rang Barse (Holi)… The new EC’s inaugural event was “Rang Barse”
to celebrate Holi, held on March 10 at the Kirchgemeindehaus in Kil-
chberg. Attendance outdid all our expectations and our natural feelings
of unease and trepidation regarding our ‘virgin’ event were put to rest
barely an hour into the event. The evidence was there for all to see. En-
tertainment, food, drinks, fun, colourful attire – you name it, it was pre-

sent. Those who were there know that a good time was had by all. And
those who were not have surely found that out by now through the jun-
gle grapevine. Good news travels fast after all!
IAGZ unveils its logo!!... We had simultaneously launched a Logo
Design competition for IAGZ. The winning logo, chosen by two artists
from within our community, was created by Shalmali Patkar Barve.
Hearty congratulations to her!
IAGZ now recognized by Indian Embassy… A great feather in our
cap was the official recognition by the Indian Embassy who endowed us
with a generous grant to help us organize events to spread and retain
Indian culture amongst our community. Endearingly entertaining performances by children at
Rang Barse (Holi)
We cheered for Saina Nehwal… Some members of the EC as well
as many others from the community travelled to Basel to cheer on Saina
Nehwal at the Swiss Open. Surely it was (at least in part) our unrelent-
ing support that helped her retain her title.
Upcoming Events… And now we are in the throes of planning our
next event(s). First up is a musical concert on June 10 (details to follow
shortly). Please mark the date in your calendars already, because be-
lieve us; you will not want to miss this event! Then we will move on to
the annual summer picnic (details will be sent in due course), culminating
with the much loved and eagerly awaited Dandiya and Diwali in October/
November. All information related to the events will be put up on our Kirchgemeindehaus Kilchberg Venue of Rang Barse (Holi)
website which is being newly-launched in mid-May. And of course,
don’t forget to check our FB page for up-to-date news. It is our endeav-
our and intention to be there for the community and our members in
