Maruti Suzuki started manufacturing and selling mini small car maruti 800 in 1983. 2- In early 1990's GOI de-licensed the automobile industry. 3- Companies like FORD,GM, TOYOTA, HONDA entered the market. 4- Hyundai motors company (HMC) of south korea too entered the indian automobile market in 1996 and setup its subsidiary called HMIL. 5- The facility had an initial capacity to produce 120,000 cars and 130,000 engine transmission units p.a.
