2. What is HydroSpatium?
• Knowledge management
system used as decision support
tool in the scope of water planning
and management.
• It keeps properly organized and
easily accessible information
required to water planning and
integrated management, under the
perspective of the European Water
Framework Directive (WFD).
• It can be adapted to other legal
frameworks and languages.

3. Main functionalities
• It´s a web system to access and
edit different kind of information
related to water and implied in water
planning process.
• All information is associated to
geographic elements that can be
visualized on a map inside of the
application: river sections, lakes,
aquifers, masses of surface water,
masses of groundwater, water
collection points, and other points of
interest.
•Each element has its data sheet including a lot
of attributes that render possible a detailed
characterization and than can be adapted adding
or eliminating fields.

• Link to any kind of document, image,
diagram, spreadsheet or even audios.
This option allows the use of existent
information of an element and improve its
description. All documents have their
associated metadata under ISO standards
an can be located by external catalogues
• Visualization on a map. HydroSpatium
has its own specialized viewer but can use
other viewers clients have installed in their
information systems.

implemented in Water Directorate of La Rioja to
manage information required by hydrological
planning and Water Framework Directive
HydroGeoEbro manages Ebro River Basin
Authority data and is used as a support tool for
hydrological planning process.
