The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Editor's Notes
[Lukas] Our school is in the middle of the city of Brno. And some 484 students go there We have three separate buildings. First building is on Rašínova street and second is on Husova Street. And there is also a small, one-class nursery school which is not far from Rašínova.[Adela] We also rent a swimming-pool which stands some 100 metres from Rašínova, where our teachers teach swimming to pupils from our and 16 other Brno schools.[Lukas] And sometimes we have PE lessons there, too. YUCK!
Snímek 4[Lukas] The school is almost 130 years old. It was founded in 1889. Husova was called after imperial Crown Prince Rudolf who killed himself in his early thirties, and Rašínova was the School of Crown Princess Stephany. [Adela] In the past, the schools were boys-only, girls-only schools, but these days we go all together.
Snímek 5 - Caretaker monster[Adela] Talking about the past, we found some scary stories that happened at our school. For example, in the seventies the school care-taker hanged himself at Rašínova though till today, nobody knows why.[Lukas] This is not him, though some say they met him stalking the corridors... But they were not sure what they saw. May be it wasn’t his ghost … maybe it was one of the teachers.
Snímek 6 - dalton[Adela] Our school was awarded a title of International Dalton School in 2008. We belong among four schools that started introducing Dalton method into education in 1994. Our school is one of the schools that founded Czech Dalton Association.[Lukas] And we were one of the members who founded international organization Dalton International in 2000. Every year Dalton International Conference takes place at our school in May.
In the first grade, our pupils have “dalton lessons” - some 60 to 150 minute blocks where they work on some activities like revisions, test preparation or new topics We also use dalton boards which you know!At the second grade, we do some other activites. Our teachers prepare “projects” for us which we work on either at school or at home. These projects are FUN, though we have to write many tests on them.
Snímek 8 - ředkvičky[Lukas]These are some of the activities we do. We work in classrooms - doing projects like this on Human body or we go somewhere else - like to a greenhouse not far from our school where we learn how to grow some vegetables.
Snímek 9[Adela] And here are some more pictures…
Snímek 12[Lukas] At the end of the school year we have celebration. Some students prepare program for us. Or sometimes our teachers take us from the school and we learn outside. We can go into some hobby groups in the afternoons. Our school offers many after-school activities. There are language studies, like French or German lessons, music, sports, aerobics, pottery making, somearts group and many, many others.
[Lukas] We can have a lunch in our school. When we want, we go to lunch there. Our lunches are very good. We Czechs typically eat HUGE meals at noon. We usually have some hot soup, main dish and sometimes we add some salads. The main dish is something like your dinner - we have rice with meat, potatoes with steaksor spaghetti or … you know. This is our lunch from last Wednesday. (fotka je v prezentaci) What’s interesting is that we pay only for a part of the lunch price. The rest is paid by the state.
[Adela] We do a lot of activities out of school. For example, our school choir sings in many shows. Here you can see their piece for international European Music Festival. And here they sing at famous Brno café.
