What others are saying about our cloud services “ From HP’s perspective, the best part about the new service is likely to be that it takes HP’s cloud consulting a step beyond what IBM (or anybody else, really) currently offers. For now, IBM’s cloud consulting options resemble HP’s prior collection in that they revolve around creating business models that utilize cloud computing, but do not address the ground-level concerns of actually building a cloud infrastructure. ” – GigaOm “ While Cisco adds an essential piece of the cloud computing puzzle at the layer 2 level, HP is trying to provide a comprehensive framework for its customers to work toward a cloud future. When you're talking about both cloud service providers and consumers, not to mention early adopters of the private cloud, that's a tall order…..The long, slow march toward greater agility and optimization of resources is basically the story of IT. It has had many names (beginning with re-engineering in the '80s), and HP has done a pretty good job of articulating the latest cloud version….”– InfoWorld

  • #6 April 1, 2010 HP Confidential
  • #9 High Level – Platforms as a Service, provide abstraction, modeling and other UI centric ways to build “applications”. Like SHAREPOINT! Logic, Data Store, Workflow Enterprise MashUp Platform Low Level – Platforms as a Service, provide some type of programmatic coding/scripting
  • #10 The promise of the Cloud is appealing: reduced costs, greater agility, flexibility and scalability. At the same time, IT organizations need to recognize that the Cloud introduces a number of issues around security, data integrity, compliance, service level agreements, and data architecture that must be addressed. According to a 2009 IDC survey, the top 3 concerns around moving to the cloud are: 1) Security, 2) Performance, 3) Availability – enterprises are looking for assurances that they are not adding risk to the business by leveraging the Cloud. For many, moving to the Cloud is a leap of faith.
  • #11 We delivered many cloud workshop with enterprise customers globally in the last 8 months. What we hear from our customers is consistent with what we hear from you. It’s not just about IT anymore. It’s a different operational model. Clients see cloud as strategic and must-have vision for the future of IT. Hard dollar savings is still top of the list, partly because economic uncertainty still continues to an extent. However , flexibility and speed-to-market for new services is the real business need mentioned after cost savings. IT organizations feel they are behind the business and there is still a way to go to become a true service provider. Understanding this service provider model is important in these cloud discussions. Some direct quotes from clients include: We are under pressure from our business to either create a cloud strategy or launch cloud services “ We are interested in how to build, structure and document a cloud services portfolio “ We are not aligned as a team on cloud definition and where we want to be 5 years from now as a company” “ Our investments in cloud will be important. We want to make sure we have not forgotten anything” We want to launch cloud services like our competition” “ we believe we can save money through adoption of cloud services” “ we want to become an internal cloud service provider” On the next slide we’ll look at 3 approaches to the cloud….
  • #12 Just because we believe a lot of customer will go to hybrid model, they need a structured approach to integrate the approaches together. If you have cloud and non-cloud services, this requires a well-thought service lifecycle approach. Solution integration within your environment Transformation consulting Cloud Infrastructure workshops to build the vision and mobilise the organization POC and pilot capabilities and an integrated technology solution to build trust in the model ROI services to develop the business case
