Of all the features introduced throughout Joomla 3, subforms is the one I rely on most. Subforms are a field type like text, dropdowns, and date pickers. Subforms solve important content issues and significantly improve usability in managing content and settings.
In this presentation I will provide an introduction to subforms, what they can do, and the flex points where we can customize them within our own projects and extensions. Then I will demo and discuss the various ways I have deployed subforms across projects. I’ve come across interesting client needs, and I will illustrate some creative solutions using subforms.

Your Webi report is based on a universe which you just can’t edit(maintained by operation team) and also can’t copy and paste a new one(still have bugs to be fixed). What will you do ? 1.Problem The users requires the LOV for calendar year/month dimension only include current and last year, but the universe I can’t change happens to have LOV value from 1900-01 to 9999-12. It’s obviously not user-friendly for users to choose certain year month, even if you could use search, the long list of LOV is a little overwhelming for end users. 2. Solution Webi has a powerful feature called Result from another query. Picture as below: Get it ? We may add one more query in Webi let’s call it A, and filter the calendar year/month LOV in A, then apply the powerful feature on the query which we can’t change, let’s called it B. We can’t change the universe behind B, but the LOV value in B is from A(we can change). I’d like to say good job to myself. 3.
