1. HOW TO REPLACE AN

2. When it comes to replacing empty ink cartridges every inkjet printer is a little
different, however they all follow the same basic steps.
Step 1. Make a note of the printer model number. You will need to have this
information in order to find the correct replacement ink cartridges. The model
number is generally located on the reverse of the printer.

3. Step 2. Switch on your printer and open the lid/cover that houses the ink cartridges.
The cartridges will slide to the center of the printer. You might have to press the Ink
button on the front of the printer – it may have a “drop” icon on it, to allow the
cartridges to slide out. Please DO NOT pull the print head out of its housing. It should
move out automatically, either when the lid is opened or a button is pressed.

4. Step 3. Carefully remove the ink cartridges you want to replace. Depending
on the model of your printer, there may be up to six cartridges to choose
from. The cartridge’s ink color is normally displayed on its label. Do not If
you leave a print head empty for too long can dry it out.

5. Step 4. After removing the packaging on the new cartridge, gently shake
the new cartridge. A gentle shaking will help circulate the ink around the
cartridge. Don’t forget - make sure you shake the cartridge BEFORE
opening the bag to prevent any leakage.

6. Step 5. Remove the protector tape that covers the ink cartridge. These
differ by brand, but usually all ink cartridges will have a protective sticker or
piece of plastic over the dispenser that needs to be removed before
installation.

7. Step 6. Install the cartridge into the printer. Insert it in the reverse way that
you remove it from the printer. Keeping it at the correct angle the ink
cartridge should fit in with little effort. Most newer cartridges will lock or
‘click’ into place automatically with a little pressure.

Step 7. To check that the cartridges that the cartridges have been installed
correctly print a test page. This will get then ink flowing and let you know if
you need to perform a head cleaning operation. This is also useful if you
discover that the print heads need re-aligning, adjustments can be carried
out at this stage.
