How to cook a basic stir fry
10 easy steps to a tasty meal
Step 1:
purchase ingredients
You will need:
• One green pepper
• Two carrots
• One white or red onion
• One carton of mushrooms
• One bunch of broccoli
• Quarter pound of snow peas
• One bottle of pre-made sauce
Step 2:
julienne green pepper
• Cut into quarters
• Cut away white part of pepper doing a
horizontal cut.
• Slice each quarter from the top to bottom of
the pepper, to 1/8 inch strips.
Step 3:
slice carrots
• Wash and/or peel carrots
• Slice at 45 degree angle(for presentation’s
sake) into ¼ inch thick pieces.
• Set aside
Step 4:
Julienne onion
• Slice in half, along two pointed ends, making
the rings visible.
• Slice the long way, at a 45 degree angle, into
1/5 inch thick strips
• Remove the center pieces.
• Set aside
Step 5:
Slice mushrooms
• Cut into halves or quarters, depending on size.
• Set aside.
Step 6:
Cut broccoli
• Remove stalk, and cut larger pieces in half or
quarters, you should end up with 1 ½ inch
squared pieces.
Step 7:
Slice beef
• Slice beef into 1/4 inch thick pieces that are 2
inches long.
Step 8:
Begin sautéing beef
• Heat a tablespoon of sesame oil in a wok.
• Add beef.
• Quickly brown each piece of beef, without
fully cooking.
• Set aside.
Step 9:
Begin sautéing vegetables
• Add a quarter cup of oil to wok.
• Add vegetables and periodically rotate them
in the wok.
• Cook until vegetables are slightly under
desired softness.
Step 10:
Add sauce and beef
• Pour half cup of premade store bought or
homemade stir fry sauce into wok with
vegetables.
• Add beef.
• Sauté for 3-5 more minutes to finish cooking
beef and vegetables.
Step 11:
Enjoy
• Scoop desired portion over rice.
• Enjoy your easily prepared and tasty stir fry.
