Slowfish Manifesto presentation at UNESCO (Bergen) and Terra Madre (Turin)Magnus Johnson
This is a multi author presentation of the Slow Fish manifesto. Slow Fish are a chapter of the Slow Food movement. Words written by John Wedgewood Clarke after extensive discussions by a group of activists, scientists and producers. In Bergen I gave it with Lucy Gilliam on behalf of Slow Fish (part of the Slow Food movement) to highlight the problems facing artisanal fishers. I presented it again at the 2014 Terra Madre Slow Fish workshop.
This document outlines the needs of patients in three categories: healthy people, sick people, and empowered patients (e-Patients). For healthy people, the focus is on accessing and adding to their own health data through diet, exercise, education, and gym/exercise plans. For sick people, the needs center around research into biomarkers, diagnostics, prognostics, treatments and their side effects/efficacy, as well as education and community/support. For e-Patients, the key needs are education, legislative empowerment to access experimental therapies and medical staff contact information, and financial empowerment through communities, research, and culture shifts toward collaborative care and ownership of health data.

Business owners must also reevaluate their daily work and goals, and consider whether they need help from experts to grow their business to its full potential rather than trying to do everything alone.

The Fish Bowl - Professional Development that WorksBen Summerton
A presentation detailing the Professional Development model developed by the EdTech Department at Korea International School for presentation at Learning 2.0 in NIST Bangkok 2014. Presented by Steve Katz and Ben Summerton.
The document describes the fishbowl discussion structure. It involves multiple concentric circles of chairs, with an inner circle for discussing a topic while others in outer circles listen. Those in outer circles can tap someone in the inner circle to replace them and join the discussion, after which they must finish speaking and leave the inner circle spot. The fishbowl structure is meant for large group discussions and allows for exchanges between experts and others.
The fishbowl method is a discussion strategy where a small group of students sit in the center ("the fishbowl") and discuss a topic while the rest of the class listens in around them. It allows students to practice conversation skills and develop different perspectives. There are five main steps: 1) selecting a topic, 2) setting up chairs in a circle for the fishbowl, 3) preparing students, 4) discussing discussion norms, and 5) debriefing the discussion afterwards. The method provides greater interaction but requires ground rules to keep conversations focused.

The document describes 3 management games to promote team building and problem solving skills. Game 1 has employees create marketing plans to sell random office items. Game 2 has employees take tissue paper squares and share personal facts in return. Game 3 challenges a group to lower a stick from waist level to the ground while maintaining contact, testing communication, planning, and concentration. The purpose is to encourage bonding, creativity, and evaluate how teams work together to solve problems.
This document provides examples of different scoring systems that can be used to modify a simple word game and influence the behaviors and learning of players. It describes scoring based on quantity, length, bidding, time limits, uniqueness, creativity, and more. The goal is to illustrate how changing the scoring changes what is measured and rewarded in a game.
The document summarizes key aspects of personal income taxation and the 30% ruling for expatriates in the Netherlands. Personal income tax uses a progressive scale with four tax brackets, with higher incomes facing higher tax rates up to 52%. Assets are also taxed, with a 4% deemed return taxed at 30%. The 30% ruling provides expatriates a substantial income tax exemption of up to 30% of remuneration for up to 10 years to offset higher costs of living abroad. The employer grants a tax-free allowance and the exemption can be renewed after 5 years if the employee still meets conditions.
Peace and conflict is a presentation about choosing peace over war. It encourages the audience to follow Gandhi and Mother Theresa's examples of being active in promoting peace and helping others, rather than engaging in war which is described as "S-T-U-P-i-D". The document contrasts the good works of peace advocates like Gandhi and Mother Theresa with the evils of war and figures like Adolf Hitler.
Metals have strong metallic bonding that gives them useful properties. They conduct electricity and heat well due to mobile electrons. Common metals include iron, copper, and aluminium, which are used in things like cars, wiring, and greenhouse frames due to their strength, conductivity, malleability, and other qualities. Recycling metals has advantages like reduced costs and environmental impact compared to extracting raw materials, but collecting, sorting, and processing scrap metal can also be challenging.

Louis Riel was born in 1844 in the Red River Settlement and attended schooling but did not complete training to become a priest or lawyer. He went on to lead the Métis people and establish a provisional government to protect French rights, but in 1885 he led the North-West Rebellion and surrendered after Batoche fell. Riel was then tried and convicted for treason, with his trial and execution making him a controversial figure, but his legacy and contributions to Métis rights are still discussed today.
Dogs are often stressed by Halloween for several reasons. The costumes, masks, and loud noises from parties or trick-or-treaters can be frightening for dogs unused to such stimulation. Owners are advised to keep their dogs comfortable inside away from the Halloween activities if their dog seems anxious or scared.

Covey says most people look for quick fixes. They see a big success and want to know how he did it, believing (and hoping) they can do the same following a quick bullet list.
But real change, the author says, comes not from the outside in, but from the inside out. And the most fundamental way of changing yourself is through a paradigm shift.
That paradigm shift is a new way of looking at the world. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People presents an approach to effectiveness based on character and principles.
The first three habits indeed deal with yourself because it all starts with you. The first three habits move you from dependence from the world to the independence of making your own world.
Habits 4, 5 and 6 are about people and relationships. The will move you from independence to interdependence. Such, cooperating to achieve more than you could have by yourself.
The last habit, habit number 7, focuses on continuous growth and improvement.
