3. VERY important!

4. You have to have a lot of
biofiltration in aquaponics.

5. All of that waste coming
from the fish consumes a
TON of oxygen.

6. Especially in the nitrification
process.

7. Remember...

8. Lots of ammonia or ammonium
enters the system from fish
production.

9. If we let that straight into
our DWC,

10. It will crash our oxygen.

11. That’s bad!

12. We must separate all of our waste-
processing from the actual plant
production.

13. That’s where biofiltration
comes in.

14. Biofiltration processes all of the
waste before passing it off to the
rest of the system.

15. It pull out solids, clarifies, and
oxidizes compounds before sending
the solution to the plants.
