Property values in Winchester hit an all-time high in January 2014, surpassing the previous peak in 2005 according to a monthly report from RE/MAX Leading Edge. The report analyzed data from 12 towns in and around Boston, finding that median home prices had rebounded significantly from their lowest point in March 2009 at the bottom of the housing market crash.
Melrose Housing Report, September 2013
While more homes have come on the market in Melrose after Labor Day as hoped, open house traffic has dramatically decreased compared to the spring. Bidding wars still occur for homes priced correctly, but the number of offers has reduced, with 2-3 offers instead of 10-15. Inventory increased 23% in Melrose in September compared to August, but the real estate market is seeing fewer eager buyers touring open houses and submitting offers on properties.
Somerville Housing Report, September 2013
The Somerville housing report for September 2013 found that the number of homes for sale decreased 10% from August, contrary to hopes that more inventory would come on the market after Labor Day. Open house traffic also dramatically declined compared to the spring, with only 10-15 people attending the first two open houses rather than 40-50 previously. Bidding wars continued but with fewer offers of 2-3 rather than the earlier 10-15 on homes priced correctly.
