...a book trailer
Intended audience:
This book is good for anyone who feels
stuck in their life, the neighborhood, or
circumstances. If you are looking to find
out who you are and where you belong,
then this is a must-read.
Setting:
The story takes place in a latino
neighborhood in Chicago. The events of
the story are in modern times.
Protagonist:
Esperanza is a young latina woman in her
early teenage years who hates her run-
down house in her run-down
neighborhood.
Plot synopsis:
Esperanza’s family has moved from an
apartment to their home for the first time.
It is not anything close to what Esperanza
had hoped for in her head. Esperanza
spends the novel trying to figure out
where she fits in while dreaming every
moment of getting out.
audio/visual joy:
There’s no movie though it has been
made into a play. The slide from
Schmoop that follows has good trailer for
the book though with a thought provoking
examination about why expressing
ourselves matters.
