Commercial institutions attempt to counter the BBC's power by becoming larger through vertical integration, where a company owns all parts of production and distribution. For example, Warner Bros Entertainment is a fully integrated entertainment company that owns film studios, distribution channels, and some cinemas. Warner Bros is itself part of the even bigger conglomerate Time Warner, a huge media company that uses horizontal integration to consolidate its power by purchasing competitors within the same market section.
