HOPE
LAUNCHING YOUR FINEST
FROM THE DEPTH
Rev Albert Kang
He put a new song in
my mouth, a song of
praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in
the Lord.
Psalm 40:3
The rest of the Bible speaks TO US
but the Psalms speak FOR US
A Set of 15 Psalms from 120 to 134
Gradual Psalms * Songs of Degrees * Songs of Steps
Songs for Going Up to Worship * Pilgrim Songs.
Great is the Lord and greatly to be
praised in the city of our God!
His holy mountain, beautiful in
elevation, is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north, the city
of the great King.
Psalm 48:1-2
The Feast of Unleavened Bread
(Pesach/Passover)
The Feast of Weeks
(Shavout/Pentecost)
The Feast of Booths

HOPE IN RESTORATION
Out of the depths
I cry to you, LORD;
PSALM 130:1
AN EMERGENCY CALL
It’s not a casual call
but a call of desperation
I cry to you, LORD;
Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive to my
cry for mercy.
STATE YOUR LOCATION
Out of the depths
I cry to you, LORD;
PSALM 130:1
You might be at your lowest state of misery
Your soul is buried in the graveyard of deadly silence
Your spirit is lingering in the abyss of despair
Life is made of everything
that is happening in this
imperfect and sinful world
Evil, wickedness, disasters
and injustice happen!
WHAT ABOUT
NATURAL DISASTERS?
The earth is governed by various
laws of nature and God has
allowed those laws to operate.
Jesus said, “In this world you
will have trouble”.
John 16:33
Pain and suffering are in this
fallen world until Jesus comes
back again.
Do not confuse the FACTS OF LIFE
with the ACTS OF GOD!
Place the blame on
the FACTS OF LIFE
and not on the
ACTS OF GOD
Disturbed!
Disappointed!
Discouraged!
But Not Defeated!
Disturbed!
Disappointed!
Discouraged!
But Not Defeated!
Our Savior Walks On Water
The good news is that the
ACTS OF GOD
can redeem the
FACTS OF LIFE
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my
supplications
(pleas for mercy).
Psalm 130:2
THE HANDING-OVER PRAYER
You do not pray so that God can love you more
You pray because God is already loving you
You can trust the God who loves you
And He will take care of whatever you hand over to Him
Beneath the floods prayer lived
and struggled; yea, above the roar
of the billows rose the cry of faith,
it matters little where we are if we
can pray; but prayer is never more
real and acceptable than when it
rises out of the worst places.
Deep places beget deep devotion.
Charles H. Spurgeon, Treasury of David, p118
Pain and suffering are the soils
upon which our faith in God
sprouts stronger, our hope in
Him grows sturdier and our
prayer rises more fervently.
Albert Kang
The more distressed we are, the
more excellent is the faith which
trusts bravely in the Lord, and
therefore appeals to Him, and to
Him alone.
Charles Spurgeon
What, then, shall we say
in response to these
things?
If God is for us, who can
be against us?
Romans 8:31
Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or
nakedness or danger or sword?
Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or
nakedness or danger or sword?
Romans 8:35
No, in all these things we are
MORE THAN CONQUERORS
through Him who loved us
Romans 8:37
HOPE IN COMPASSION
PSALM 130:3-4
If you, LORD, kept a record of
sins, Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is
forgiveness, so that we can,
with reverence, serve you.
RECORD OF SINS
God records every act,
but He has yet to act
upon it.
“Come now, and let us reason
together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.”
Isaiah 1:18
30
Justice is getting what
you deserve.
Mercy is not getting
what you deserve.
Grace is getting what
you absolutely do not
deserve.
JUSTICE - MERCY - GRACE
Christ died on the cross
Your old being was in Christ
You also died on the cross
Now if we died with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with Him…
Romans 6:8
And it shall come to pass
“That whoever calls on the
name of the LORD Shall be
saved.”
Acts 2:21
Joel 2:32
For “whoever calls on the
name of the LORD shall be
saved.”
Romans 10:13
ROMANS 8:1
Therefore, there is
now no
condemnation for
those who are in
Christ Jesus,
ROMANS 8:2
… because through Christ Jesus the law of the
Spirit who gives life has set you free from the
law of sin and death.
HOPE IN ANTICIPATION
PSALM 130:5
I wait for the LORD, my
whole being waits, and in
His word, I put my hope.
Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus
Mark 10:46-52
When we are in deep crisis,
we do not just wait
superficially but wait with
our body, soul and spirit
deep in the situation.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
PSALM 130:6
THE BENEFITS OF WAITING
Learning to wait develops a
submissive heart.
Learning to wait allows you to
appreciate the blessing better when
it comes.
Staying Present And
Presence of Christ
Let the waiting be
fruitful
Learn to practice the
presence of Christ
The process of waiting is
just as important as
receiving the result
When You Become
Impatient With Waiting
When you catch yourself
drifting to doubt and fear
When your mind becomes
clouded and crowded with all
kinds of wild concerns
Use the 5-second rule and
get back to the present and
presence of Christ
HOPE IN REDEMPTION
Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for
with the LORD is unfailing love and
with Him is full redemption.
PSALM 130:7
And He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:8
God proves that our faith is real
because it has the power to help us in
responding positively to suffering.
We who trust in Jesus, “the Pioneer
and Perfecter of faith” (Hebrews
12:2), will not be crushed by
suffering.
Meanwhile, God also uses
pain and suffering to draw
us closer to Himself so that
we will learn to fully trust
Him in all situations.
These trials will show that your
faith is genuine. It is being tested
as fire tests and purifies gold—
though your faith is far more
precious than mere gold.
1 Peter 1:7
So when your faith remains
strong through many trials, it will
bring you much PRAISE and
GLORY and HONOR on the day
when Jesus Christ is revealed to
the whole world.
1 Peter 1:7
