A. Biblical hope is forward-looking faith. It is a confident belief Based not on things experienced but on the Word of God that the future He says will happen.
This document discusses the importance of living with purpose that comes from God rather than ourselves. It argues that purpose provides meaning and direction to life. Without purpose from God, life can feel chaotic and unsatisfying as we chase after fleeting pleasures. The document urges finding purpose by believing God created us with a plan, seeking Him through prayer and study, and putting faith into action through good works.
This document discusses why Christians should study the Bible. It provides several reasons:
1) To show ourselves approved by God as workers who do not need to be ashamed by rightly dividing the word of truth.
2) So that ministers can properly distribute God's word to meet the needs and circumstances of their listeners.
3) So believers will have reasons for their faith and hope in God that they can provide to anyone who asks.
The KJV translates Job 13:15 as "trust" whereas the NIV translates it as "hope". While trust and faith are related, trust refers to actively believing God's promises in all circumstances based on the faith given by God. Trust involves living out full acceptance of God's promises daily. The Bible emphasizes trusting fully in God alone rather than human understanding. Biblical hope also involves full confidence and assurance in God's promises, without any doubt, based on faith in God as the sure foundation. So both trust and hope as used in Job 13:15 refer equivalently to believing confidently in God despite difficulties.
This document discusses how to build real faith in God through 10 steps: (1) Ask God for more faith, (2) Prove what you believe from the Bible, (3) Study examples of faith in the Bible, (4) Stir up God's spirit through prayer and study, (5) Live by faith and trust God's word, (6) Endure trials with patience as your faith grows, (7) Keep a faith journal, (8) Daily devotion time with God, (9) Obey what God commands, and (10) Filter out distractions to focus on God. Building faith is a continual process that results in a deeper personal relationship with God and ability to accomplish great things through faith
The "Learning and Living the God-centered life" had a retreat in which the theme was The Gospel. Here is our Friday night teaching was specifically designed to exhort each of us to stay steadfast in Christ!
Repentance involves turning from sin and turning to God through a change of mind and heart that leads to changed actions. Faith is trusting in and embracing God through believing, relying on, and being fully persuaded of his character as revealed in Jesus. To have faith in Jesus for salvation, one must repent of their sins by acknowledging their sinfulness, confessing their sins, and turning from sin to trust fully in Jesus, his atoning death on the cross, and his resurrection as the basis for being restored to God.
This document discusses finding purpose from God rather than defining it oneself. It emphasizes living dutifully and diligently through faith, which requires believing God, seeking Him in prayer, worship and study, and putting faith into action through good works. Finding individual purpose involves believing God created us for good works, activating that faith through prayer, worship and study, and demonstrating faith through obedience and service.

Christian hope is defined as a certainty and confidence in our future with God. It gives believers strength to face challenges, teaches patience, and brings encouragement. Christian hope is based on God's promises throughout the Bible, such as the promise of a Messiah for Israel and God's covenant with Abraham. It culminates in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the promise that he will return. Hope keeps faith and love strong by providing confidence that hardship is not permanent and that God is in control of the future.

LESSON 1 OVERCOMING OBSTACLES PETER A FLAWED YET FAITHFUL FOLLOWER OF JESUS.pptxCarlenePierce1
It is often said that some are well qualified to teach and encourage others because of the many mistakes they have made and from which they have recovered.
They have learned form experience what was utter failure
and how to rebound to great success.
Peter was such and example.
In the previous chapters the main emphasis in the book was why we need a Savior and how we can accept Him. However, this chapter begins to deal with how a Christian ought to live out his salvation. There are many practical points to daily Christian living which begin in Romans 12 and continue to the end of the book.
The purpose of these lessons is to set forth the marks of the life of the Christian as they are presented in Romans 12.
This chapter contains some of the most practical and relevant teaching to be found in the Bible as it relates to living as a disciple of Christ, a child of God. The apostle Paul draws heavily upon that which precedes this chapter.
This document contains the introduction and opening litany for a Bible study on confidence in prayer. The litany includes responses between a leader and participants focusing on feeding on God's word, enlightening their understanding, inclining their hearts to God's word, being effective and fervent pray-ers, and not losing heart in prayer. The introduction emphasizes that prayer is essential for communication with God and decision making. It notes there is an enemy of prayer who tries to keep Christians from prayer, push them into error, and frustrate God's plan. The study will involve times of practical application where participants pray in groups of three on assigned topics for one minute each.
The document provides an overview of lessons from a course about the Holy Spirit. It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Hope Is The Confident Expectancy Of A Positive Result

7. B. Another Meaning Of Expectancy – Wait
In the Psalms, Proverbs, and many other books of the Bible, we find
commands to wait on the Lord” like this one: “Wait on the LORD: Be
of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on
the LORD” (Psalm 27:14, KJV).

8. Most modern translations use “wait for the Lord.”
To English readers, the idea of waiting on the Lord might seem like
a passive exercise, but a closer study reveals that it’s nothing of the
sort.

9. Patient, confident trust in the Lord is the central idea of the
exhortation to wait on the Lord.
The entire Psalm 27 is a prayer to God for help. It beautifully
illustrates the meaning of waiting on the Lord.
Throughout the psalm’s eloquent lines, David expresses authentic
faith and courageous trust in God, based on his confident
expectation that the Lord will rescue and save him in his time of
trouble.

10. We can wait on the Lord by trusting in Him.
David expressed great confidence in the Lord, who was his light,
salvation, and stronghold (Psalm 27:1–2).
This kind of dynamic trust dispels fear and despair: “When the
wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my
foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my
heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will
be confident”
(verses 2–3).

11. We can wait on the Lord by seeking Him.
David conveyed his trust in the Lord by longing to be with Him, to
commune in God’s presence and worship in His temple: “One thing I
ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house
of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the
LORD and to seek him in his temple” (Psalm 27:4).

II.B.2.
12. In God’s dwelling place, praising and worshiping the Lord, David felt
safe and secure: “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his
dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me
high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies
who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I
will sing and make music to the LORD” (verses 5–6).

13. We can wait on the Lord through prayer, as David did in eager
expectation of deliverance (Psalm 27:7–14).
David asked God for wisdom, direction (verse 11), and protection
(verse 12), wholly believing he would “see the goodness of the
LORD in the land of the living” (verse 13).
Those who wait on the Lord can fully expect Him to fulfill their hope:
“Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame” (Psalm 25:3,
ESV).

II.B.3.
14. Waiting on the Lord involves the confident expectation of a positive
result in which we place a great hope.
This expectation is based on knowledge of and trust in God. Those
who do not know the Lord will not wait on Him; neither will those who
fail to trust Him. We must be confident of who God is and what He is
capable of doing.
Those who wait on the Lord do not lose heart in their prayers: “This is
the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything
according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14). Waiting on the Lord
renews our strength (Isaiah 40:31).

II.B.4.
15. Waiting on the Lord by trusting, seeking, and praying establishes our
faith and brings serenity and stability: “I waited patiently for the
LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my
feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song
in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the
LORD and put their trust in him” (Psalm 40:1–3).
As this passage affirms, waiting on the Lord is also a testimony to
others who will see our faith and, as a result, put their trust in God.

II.B.5.
16. Waiting on the Lord brings God’s blessings: “Since ancient times no
one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God
besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him” (Isaiah
64:4; see also 1 Corinthians 1:7).

II.B.6.
17. Sometimes we might feel as though the Lord does not see or hear
us—that He’s not answering our prayers. During these moments, we
can put our complete faith and trust in the living God.
We can wait on the Lord in eager anticipation, knowing that He is
with us and in control of our lives. He will do what He has promised.
He will rescue and save us. He is always working for our good, even
when we don’t feel Him (Romans 8:28).
Through patient, courageous, active trusting, seeking, and prayer, we
can learn to wait on the Lord.

18. C. Another Meaning Of Expectancy - Wait
1. To remain or abide under the rule of someone, not
simply with resignation, but with a vibrant hope.
a. this remaining under is one's continual practice,
continually willing to yield one's will to God and
abide under (and in) His good and acceptable and
perfect will.

19. 2. The idea of enduring (remaining under the rule
of someone) is not just to "grin and bear it" but to
remain under trials in such a way that we glorify
God as we learn the lessons the trials are meant
to teach us, instead of seeking ways to get out
from under the trials and be relieved of the
pressure.
