                             2009 - 2010 Current Events:

The Assignment:
Throughout the quarter, you will be compiling a PowerPoint presentation of current
events that occur from week to week that deal with “Earth Science Issues”. Use your
book as a tool. Any concept that the book talks about is fair game (Even if we haven’t
covered it yet). Match the concept with the article (online or from newspaper/magazine,
etc…) and you’re well on your way.

Extra Credit Opportunities:
One current event will be required on your PowerPoint each week. You may include up
to 4 extra credit current events on your PowerPoint for a possible 10 extra credit points
(Up to 2.5 points for each extra event).

What to include in your PowerPoint:
Slide 1:
    1. Title of the Article
    2. Who wrote it, when it happened, and where did it come from (what newspaper,
        magazine, internet site).
    3. Great Pictures!! That’s why we’re making this assignment a PowerPoint.
Slide 2:
    4. A summary of the article (in your own words)
    5. A summary of how it relates to Earth Science and the book (Include the chapter
        and page from the book).

Where Do I Find Current Events?
