This document provides 5 steps to make a home more eco-friendly: 1. Save energy by using energy efficient light bulbs and motion sensing lights. 2. Use water-based, lead-free paints as lead is toxic, especially to children. 3. Separate waste into bins for organic and non-organic waste to aid decomposition and proper disposal. 4. Plan the kitchen to use electricity efficiently during daylight and gas economically by assembling ingredients before cooking. 5. Use organic household items like bamboo, cotton, jute, and paper products. Small changes can collectively make a positive impact on the environment.

3. Step One:Save Energy
● Use energy efficient
bulbs(Compact
Fluorescent lamps or
CFL).
● Inexpensive,Easily
available but consume
five times less energy !
● Also Motion Sensing
Lights can be used.

4. Step Two:Painting wall Ecofriendly
● Use water
based,lead free
Paints.
● Lead causes harm to
children under Six..
● Causes nervous
system damage,
stunted growth,
kidney damage, and
delayed
development.

● The United States' Consumer Product Safety
Commission (CPSC) banned lead paint in 1977
● Use less toxic elements:Titanium,Zinc
● If you are concerned about a specific brand of paint,

lead and trail digits) and the "batch" number on the

6. Step Three:Separate Dustbins
● Use two dustbins..
● One for collecting
Organic wastes( fruit
and vegetable peel,
used tea leaves, leftover
food etc)and empty
them in garden.
● Another Non-
Organic(tin, plastic etc)
wastes and dispose the
left overs..

7. Step Four:Plan the Kitchen
● Kitchen should be in
bright and airy place..
● Less electricity can be
consumed during day
time..
● Use the gas
economically by
assembling all the
ingredients required for
cooking in front of you..
● Use Induction cooktops.

8. Step Five:Use Organic Households
● Try:
bamboo planters,
➢ cotton bedcovers,
➢ jute chicks for window
covering,
➢ hand-made earthen
sculptures, sea shells,
➢ paper mache, and lamp
shades made of paper..
