After World War II, a massive housing shortage affected the United States. The war effort prompted movement from rural areas to cities where munitions manufacturing and other war work was being handled; after the war, many people who had formerly worked on farms opted to stay in more populated areas to take advantage of new opportunities generated by post-war prosperity. Builders such as Jack Nagel of Decron Properties promoted the American dream of home ownership by constructing attractive, quality homes at affordable prices.
