A common error is pouring water on electrical fires. If an
electrical fire does occur,avoid pouring water on the flames as
water will further fuel the fire and could cause electrocution.
Keep a fire extinguisher on site if you’re worried about electrical

your home and call the fire brigade.

Ensure ISI marked standard electrical wires & fittings are used in your house.
Avoid overloading of electrical outlets.
Unplug appliances when not in use.
Regularly inspect electrical cords and appliances for damage.
Extension cords shall only be used for temporary purpose. If new appliances
have been added then get, proper electrical wiring done and get. Power load
increased by approaching your power distribution Company.
Never run cords under rugs / carpets, doors or windows.
Make sure cords do not become tripping hazards.
Keep flammable materials away from electrical heat sources.
Make sure appliances are fixed to proper wattage plug points.
Keep a Fire Extinguisher [CO2 / DCP or Clean Agent type] readily available.
Make sure that all the Wet Equipments such as Geyser, Dish Washers etc. are
routed through RCCBs of 30mA sensitivity.
Block unused sockets and keep electrical appliances away from children.
