This educational webinar, outlined the key legal requirements that need to be considered when implementing a corporate wellness program. We will discuss successful ways that companies have developed communication with their population, to not only get them engaged, but to get them fully on board.
The rules and regulations required by HIPAA, GINA, the ADEA and the ADA will be addressed, as well as the changes brought about by PPACA. This webinar will provide the knowledge and guidance needed by first time - and long time - managers of corporate wellness programs.
Wellness programs are an effective method to maintain group health plan costs, motivate employees to take control of their health, while assisting employees lead happier, healthier and more productive lives. Employers seek solutions by offering incentives that are tangible, easily accessible and tailored to the employees work/life balance for voluntary participation.
Prior to the passage of the Affordable Care Act, navigating the legal landscape of wellness programs and incentives could be treacherous. However, the Affordable Care Act seemed to be a clear endorsement of standards-based wellness programs by the government. PPACA generated even more opportunities to get creative with these wellness programs, but it is important to understand the risks.

Nursing Career Planning
Individual career planning is essential in the transitional journey from being a student to becoming a professional in your chosen career. I can imagine that it will be challenging as a nursing student to transition from school to the practice setting, but with perseverance, guidance and mentoring from fellow nurses and nurse managers my professional development will be successful. In this paper, I will discuss how I will transition as a nursing student into the nursing profession in my home state of Florida and outline my goals for lifelong learning, career development and advancement. Additionally, the paper will discuss how I will aim to achieve balance including the stressors and challenges that I may encounter in both my professional and personal life.
Transition To Nursing Profession
Each qualified and registered nurse needs to assume an essential part in the nursing profession. Individual responsibility and due ingenuity is principal. Along these lines, one ought to arrange as needs be for self-awareness and improvement lifelong learning by taking part in testing undertakings and reports that will make somebody progress in his profession. I will have a consistent professional improvement that will be indicated by expert inputs and occupation examinations directed at the work environment every year. I will involve myself in challenging activities and undertakings to help me in developing and building up the professional skills and knowledge (Feldman, 2003, p. 38). At last, in all the professional practices and viewpoints, I ought to be guided by the rule of genuineness and integrity as per the nursing codes. I ought to work decently with no inclinations and have an interest in feedback, as this is the thing that shows me areas of weakness and strengths for professional development (Drucker and Institute, 2013, p. 13). I will be guided entirely by the nursing code of practice, ethical codes and work standards as outlined by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
I have to take into consideration the advancement of nursing as a profession to only my personal development. In each angle, I ought to further my studies so that I can do research in specific areas that will add the fund of knowledge in nursing and improve evidenced-based practice in the clinical settings. Every one of the components where I feel that I am knowledgeable and skilled I should record it as a strength and for weaknesses I will indicate them as areas for improvement. The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

Title: Sense of Smell
Presenter: Dr. Faiza, Assistant Professor of Physiology
Qualifications:
MBBS (Best Graduate, AIMC Lahore)
FCPS Physiology
ICMT, CHPE, DHPE (STMU)
MPH (GC University, Faisalabad)
MBA (Virtual University of Pakistan)
Learning Objectives:
Describe the primary categories of smells and the concept of odor blindness.
Explain the structure and location of the olfactory membrane and mucosa, including the types and roles of cells involved in olfaction.
Describe the pathway and mechanisms of olfactory signal transmission from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Illustrate the biochemical cascade triggered by odorant binding to olfactory receptors, including the role of G-proteins and second messengers in generating an action potential.
Identify different types of olfactory disorders such as anosmia, hyposmia, hyperosmia, and dysosmia, including their potential causes.
Key Topics:
Olfactory Genes:
3% of the human genome accounts for olfactory genes.
400 genes for odorant receptors.
Olfactory Membrane:
Located in the superior part of the nasal cavity.
Medially: Folds downward along the superior septum.
Laterally: Folds over the superior turbinate and upper surface of the middle turbinate.
Total surface area: 5-10 square centimeters.
Olfactory Mucosa:
Olfactory Cells: Bipolar nerve cells derived from the CNS (100 million), with 4-25 olfactory cilia per cell.
Sustentacular Cells: Produce mucus and maintain ionic and molecular environment.
Basal Cells: Replace worn-out olfactory cells with an average lifespan of 1-2 months.
Bowman’s Gland: Secretes mucus.
Stimulation of Olfactory Cells:
Odorant dissolves in mucus and attaches to receptors on olfactory cilia.
Involves a cascade effect through G-proteins and second messengers, leading to depolarization and action potential generation in the olfactory nerve.
Quality of a Good Odorant:
Small (3-20 Carbon atoms), volatile, water-soluble, and lipid-soluble.
Facilitated by odorant-binding proteins in mucus.

Examples: Hydrogen sulfide (0.0005 ppm), Methyl-mercaptan (0.002 ppm).
Some toxic substances are odorless at lethal concentrations.
Characteristics of Smell:
Odor blindness for single substances due to lack of appropriate receptor protein.
Behavioral and emotional influences of smell.
Transmission of Olfactory Signals:
From olfactory cells to glomeruli in the olfactory bulb, involving lateral inhibition.
Primitive, less old, and new olfactory systems with different path
New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

2. Introduction
The career I have chosen to research is Health Services
Administration. For a healthcare administrator, the job
itself requires a diverse set of job responsibilities.
Through a variety of healthcare systems, administrators
lead and manage staff and work with administrative
personnel to assure the organization runs smoothly,
operationally, legally and professionally. This field of work
interests me, because there are so many different
opportunities to pursue. I hope to learn about the
different healthcare facilities and how I can contribute to
the field of healthcare.
3. History of Health Services
Administration
In the late 1800s, little patient support was offered for the
sick by medical institutions mainly because there was very
little funding or knowledge of medical treatment.
In 1920, the thought of having a staff of individuals who
managed and delegated financial and administrative duties
were now in the process of being a requirement.
A training program was to be prepared for individuals who
were to manage and assume administrative responsibilities.
The first “health systems management program” began in
1934, awarding the first Master’s Degree in healthcare
administration. Originally called an “HA” or “Hospital
Administration,” the degree has predominantly evolved into
today’s Health Care Administration degree.
4. Health Services Administration in
America
Healthcare administrators focus on the health of individuals,
families and communities. They try to analyze and develop
healthcare programs with the goal of reaching as many people
as possible.
Health administration professionals work to administer, lead
and manage healthcare systems, such as hospitals, hospital
networks or large healthcare systems.
Healthcare administrators work with other healthcare
professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible
care.
They also administer programs that teach healthy lifestyle
habits and prevention of disease and illness, in the hopes of
promoting a healthier overall community.
5. Work Environment and Salary
Some work environments involve hospitals, physician group
practices, nursing homes and home health agencies.
Some environments may be public such as hospitals, while
others may be private such as pharmaceutical companies,
health insurance providers, consulting firms or companies
that make medical supplies.
There are many different types of positions within health
services administration, thus salaries may vary. Data from the
US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that medical and health
services managers earned an average annual salary worth
$92,810.
The lowest earned $54,000
The highest earned $151,000
6. Growth Potential
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare
administration professionals are expecting a growth in the
field by 23% from 2012-2022 (much higher than the average
for all occupations).
This growth is expected to stem from a healthcare system
that will see increased demand from an aging baby boomer
population, as well as, technology that allows patients to live
longer lives.
This demand will mean more hospitals, clinics, physicians and
other healthcare professionals will be needed, and that
means more healthcare administrators will be needed to help
organize and administer care.
7. Education and Licensure
A Bachelor’s degree (four years) is the typical entry-level needed for
healthcare administration positions.
Some employers will promote from within or hire other professionals
with related experience (such as nurses), who are ideal for an
administrative role, because of their direct healthcare knowledge.
For high-level executive positions, a graduate education (two to three
years) is usually the starting point.
In most areas of healthcare administration, a license is not needed.
One notable exception is for administrators of long-term care/skilled
nursing facilities and some assisted living facilities. State license
requirements vary state to state, but a licensing examination, proof of

11. O*NET Profiler Interpretation
I would agree with the results the O*Net profiler compiled.
1. Social: I enjoy working with others to help prosper or overcome different task
and activities.
a. Ex: I have been a golf camp counselor the past two summers to assist children ages 10-
17 learn the game of golf and help them improve in different aspects of the sport. This
applies to my field of work by involving myself in situations, where I can work with
people that may not know or need help in difficult situations.
2. Enterprising: I enjoy working with people to help influence and perform for
organizational goals.
a. Ex: I am on the Clemson Women’s Golf Team, which has provided me with the
opportunity to work with different personalities and create a common goal to work
towards to improve our team as a whole. This applies to the real world, where I would
need to learn to work with others in order to succeed in the field of Health Services
Administration.
3. Artistic: I enjoy working in situations where I have to use my imagination and
creativity.

different drills that would help each individual work on specific parts of their game

situations that may come up.

14. Conclusion
Overall, health services administration is a growing field
with more and more job opportunities opening up. It is
recommended to have a Master’s degree in order to be
selected for a higher ranked position in administration,
but a Bachelors degree will also be acceptable. When
choosing a career like health services administration, it
comes with a lot of responsibilities such as making
tough decisions to make sure that patients are getting
the best care possible. In determining if this would be a
good fit for me, I will be shadowing and interning at
various places to finalize my decision on continuing my
career in health services administration.
